A very well spoken woman dressed in rags arrives at Watson's home with the urgent request for his services. Soon he is taken to a run down building with a huge well furnished room in which a crowd of people wearing an assortment of beggars clothes and fine dress wear are gathered at what they profess the be the site of a murder. Later, Watson reports what he sees to Holmes, and soon Holmes is asked to solve the murder. THE HAUNTING OF SHERLOCK HOLMES: Holmes, while on vacation, becomes witness to the arrest of a female spy, and upon hearing the evidence, refuses to investigate the case.  Soon after, Holmes also witnesses the womans execution, but later hears the supposedly dead spy singing along while he plays his violin   

The Unfortunate Tobacconist- Three owners are killed in an East End tobacco shop and Holmes is asked to investigate The Purloined Ruby- Holmes and Watson are invited to a London stage play to see themselves portrayed in a play concerning the theft of a ruby by Dr. Moriarty, Holmes long-time rival who Holmes believes is dead. These two episodes were written by Edith Meiser and the episodes were aired on American Radio First season (October 1930–June 1931) This series comprised only stories adapted from Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes stories.[3] The season aired from 20 October 1930 to 15 June 1931 and included 35 episodes, including two broadcasts of "The Noble Bachelor", adapted from "The Adventure of the Noble Bachelor". The first episode was "The Adventure of the Speckled Band", and the last episode of the season was an adaptation of "The Adventure of the Abbey Grange", titled "The Adventure of Abbey Grange".[18]

A London Train with two passengers and three crewmen goes missing on a sunny afternoon and no one can locate it or solve the mystery.. It just disappears between stations. Holmes puts in a brief appearance without mention of his name. For American radio, the heroine of Holmes on the radio was Edith Meiser, an actress who loved the stories and was convinced they would make great listening. She scripted several Conan Doyle stories and took them around. Meiser entrepreneured a fitting sponsorship for the show herself, and went back to the network triumphantly. Beginning in the early 1930s, she single handed wrote the show for over a dozen years, first working from the Conan Doyle canon, and then continuing to create stories in the spirit of the originals.
