Are your kids getting ready to leave for college? Are you trying to manage all the emotions that come with that but still not feeling ready? What does life look like when they go? How do we set up a great foundation so that our relationship with them stays strong even when they aren’t under our roof? Suzanne Mayernick knows a thing or two about raising kids and maintaining a solid relationship with them once they leave for school and beyond.  We discuss all the feelings leading up to the oldest leaving and she offers a great perspective on how to look at it.   Suzanne also tells us about her 9th “child”, her passion project Love One International, a center in Uganda that receives, rehabilitates and resettles malnourished children. We talk about marriage and how it ebbs and flows through raising kids and the importance of making sure you still know (and like) the person you married beyond having kids. I can’t wait for you to listen as I know so many of you are gearing up to send your kids off to school this year.   Suzannes story will leave you feeling inspired, hopeful and with some great ideas to utilize with your own kids. After much demand, our favorite OBGYN is back!  Answering all the questions we didn’t get to ask the last time she was here.  We are going more in depth, and really getting specific with our most intimate questions and concerns from STD’s to male birth control and so much more. Have you heard of the new upswing of men getting vasectomies as a form of birth control? Is that a wise idea?  How much do you really know about Plan B and how it actually works?  What is the best way to keep up our hygiene “down there”?  What is a fibroid and how do you know if it needs to be removed? I’m asking all the uncomfortable questions so you don’t have to. Also as a disclaimer, this PODCAST is for entertainment purposes only and you should always see your own doctor for your personal concerns. Dr. Kristin Daniel practices as an OBGYN at WOMEN Obstetrics & Gynecology in Nashville, TN. https://www.womenob.net/meet-us/kristen-daniel-md/

If you are in the depths of trying to have a baby, struggling with infertility, going through treatments or exploring the adoption option this is an episode you won’t want to miss. Our guest today is here today to bravely share her story in the hopes of helping other women who find themselves in the same place she was just a few years ago.  Her and her husbands struggle on their journey to become parents, the highs and lows, hopes and disappointment - all make up her story and what I believe so many of you will relate to. We discuss all the struggles of  infertility, treatment options, pregnancy loss and domestic adoption.  Melissa shares advice from experience of what to do and not to do, what’s normal and not, and how much does all of this cost? There is a happy ending to their story but the road there was one that honestly could be made into a movie. I hope you enjoy listening as much as I did and if you know anyone struggling with infertility right now I would encourage you to share this with them.
Today we sit down with Katie Kadan, who you’ll remember from Season 17 of NBC's The Voice, where she finished in 3rd place.  After hearing her sing, Kelly Clarkson said, “That's what we need in the music industry, just a revamp of actual talent.” Katie opens up in this raw conversation about life on one of the most acclaimed music talent shows and what life has been like since. We talk about what life was like for her growing up, being “different” from the other kids and how that held her back from following her dreams of music for so long. With the help of some great friends she was able to take the step onto the biggest stage of her life and come out on top. Katie's insight into body image, self love, society standards and even bullying will have you laughing and crying all at the same time. She truly is one of the most joyful people I have ever met and I just had to get her to share some of that light with all of you. I can’t wait for you to meet the woman behind the voice. If you are in peri menopause, menopause or post menopause you are probably very familiar with the term HRT.  You are also likely very overwhelmed or even frustrated by all the information out there and just want to know what's best for you! Today I have the woman who I credit to totally changing my life (for real) on the podcast.  When I stepped into Lisa Grissim's office at Restore Hormonal Vitality and Wellness Center here in Nashville just over a year ago, I was a dulled-down version of my former self and certainly of the one I am today. The lack of information about HRT baffled me and once I started talking about it, the feedback was so overwhelming I knew I had to make it an episode. Lisa is here today to answer questions that you sent in and I hope it gives you some answers and direction. Please consult your own medical doctor for your individual care.  Resources Lisa mentions in the episode: https://www.simplehormones.com https://worldlinkmedical.com
In part 2 of my conversation with Margaret Lantz, she opens up about their lives after Caroline was first found to be “free of disease.”  They were sent home and she thought life would go back to normal, why wouldn’t it?  This is what they had dreamed of.  Was it too good to be true? In this honest and raw conversation, Margaret opens up about her struggle once they came home and the therapy that she credits as being life saving and changing for her. She also tells us about the phone call she received while at therapy that blew their world up once again. In 2017 at the age of 5, Margaret Lantz's daughter Caroline was diagnosed with Stage 4, high risk neuroblastoma, an aggressive cancer that had spread throughout almost all of her body, including her bone marrow. Margaret and her family have been through so much over the past 6 years and we often hear the story of the patient going through the cancer but we don’t really hear about the family or the parents of the patient and how it affects them. Margaret is here today to bravely share her story with the hopes that it could help others going through the same thing. You will be so emotionally moved, I can’t wait for you to hear this one. In 2016, Dr. Annabelle Manalo-Morgan welcomed her 3rd child, Macario.  After a normal and uncomplicated pregnancy and birth, the days that followed were anything but. At 5 weeks old, Macario required a 9-hour surgery where doctors removed 40% of his brain due to daily, uncontrollable seizures.  At six months old he still had the functions of a newborn and Dr. Annabelle could not accept that as his forever life.   As a cellular biologist, she believed she had the tools to at least try to change the course of her son's life. This began the creation of MASAYA, a pure form of CBD that she administered to him through his feeding tube.  After a short time, she watched as Macario began to move, make eye contact and start to thrive.  Today he is an able-bodied, functioning 8 year old boy and you truly would never believe this little boy was once lethargic.  Dr. Annabelle is here today to share the story of her son and how CBD saved his life and about her mission to educate people on its power.  We also talk a lot about her passion to marry traditional medicine with alternative, and the positive impact that could have for you as the patient. It’s a story you have to see to believe! You can follow Dr. Annabelle on Instagram @drannabelleofficial You can purchase or learn more about her CBD company, MASAYA on Instagram @masayamedical You can purchase her best selling book "MIGHTY FLOWER, How Cannabis Saved My Son" anywhere you buy your books.
Ladies this one’s for you! If you grew up in my generation or older, you probably didn't get a lot of information given to you about your body. You probably had to ask a friend or read an article in Seventeen magazine that gave you a very one-sided piece of information as your answer.  And now, the same generation of women who had limited information on their own bodies are now mothering girls, and how do we feel equipped to share with them if we are still uncertain ourselves? Yes we can Google just about anything, but if you Google the same question enough times you’re likely to find 5 different answers that all promise to be right. Today I have my own OBGYN Dr. Kristin Daniel here to set the record straight on an array of topics that we AND our daughters have to deal with. We go through the spectrum, starting with puberty and periods (when should you take your daughter for an exam?) to birth control and conceiving (when do we start to worry?), STD’s (how and often do we screen for those?) pregnancy & recovery, postpartum depression and of course… menopause. If you’ve been feeling overwhelmed either with your own body or with how to handle dealing with your daughter's as she enters the tween years, you’re going to Iove this episode. *This podcast is for entertainment purposes only and is not intended as medical advice. You should always see and speak to your own doctor about any personal concerns or health issues. Dr. Kristin Daniel currently works as an OBGYN at Women Obstetrics & Gynecology in Nashville, TN
In 2012, mother of 3, Betsy Mikesell had a need she couldn’t solve with anything on the market, an easy way to make her twin boys bunk beds while still looking the way she wanted it to. It was on a walk with her best friend, while sharing this frustration that the idea was born. Two years later, the two would be shipping their first order from their newly started company in Utah, Beddy’s Zipper Bedding. By 2020, Beddy’s had seen immense growth and life was going great. Until a day that was supposed to be just an ordinary day of fun took an an almost fatal turn when Betsy, her husband, her twin boys and the couples best friends were on a plane that crashed. Betsy is here to share two miraculous stories. The first of how she was able to turn a need into an idea and then into a multi million dollar business. The second of the day of the plane crash, the days following, the recovery and how life changed for all of them after the crash.
