Description

Hi, I’m Dax Shepard, and I love talking to people. I am endlessly fascinated by the messiness of being human, and I find people who are vulnerable and honest about their struggles and shortcomings to be incredibly sexy. I invite you to join me as I explore other people’s stories. We will celebrate, above all, the challenges and setbacks that ultimately lead to growth and betterment. What qualifies me for such an endeavor? More than a decade of sobriety, a degree in Anthropology and four years of improv training. I will attempt to discover human “truths” without any laboratory work, clinical trials or data collection. I will be, in the great tradition of 16th-century scientists, an Armchair Expert.

Money doesnt make you happy bc youve had it for awhile now. I believe that is the key factor in that answer. Ask any human on earth that struggle to pay bills (of all kinds), then all of sudden dont have to, they are happier. I'm actually sick of hearing that. Its not true.

This episode was frustrating. I'm not the most spiritual person, but it's frustrating when Dax tries to nail the guest to the wall then in the next breath or in his retort says flat out he barely knows anything about the subject matter that he is trying to use to nail her to the wall. Just shut up and let the expert speak on her area of expertise instead of slamming something you admittedly have very little knowledge of.

Dax is too enamored by Gates to the extent that he judges Congress's tough questioning of billionaires who've accomplished a lot. The importance of it cannot be emphasized enough. It's a system of checks and balances for businesses and conglomerates, from building monopolies, and keeping these guys (who can easily adopt godlike thinking) honest. Luckily Gates has some semblance of self awareness. It certainly isn't true for many 1 percenters.

Dax is so full of himself. He calls Gates naive, WTF is wrong with this guy. Bezos would have corrected him and put him in his sweat factory. Elon would have glared at him at the least... Not a Gates fan for more reason than one but he doesn't like Elon so that's another reason.
