The Walking Dead has entered its final stage. The stage where they’ve said “screw it” and now all bets are off. Should they make an episode starring Eugene in a neo-noire storyline that involves a mystery the audience already knows the answer to and give him a 3.5 minute tantrum monologue at the end of it? Yes they should. Maybe they should also ham-handedly slam some heavy socio-political commentary in there as well? Yes they should. And maybe you want to hear us talk about it? The Walking Dead is back for the second, but not final, premiere of the eleventh season and so are we to praise it where it's good (yes, it's occasionally good) and to blow it up like it was hit by the hwacha when it's bad (it often is). Okay, okay, the liquid in the vial is blue! A.Ron concedes. And acknowledges he might be colorblind. Do you want to emit EMPs from your cells and then put on a cover concert of 20th century rock and roll? Yes? Well, then you may want to look into getting borg-ified like Agnes Jurati. Join Jim and A.Ron as they tackle an episode that ranges from impromptu concerts to the aftermath of domestic abuse, a topic very personal to Patrick Stewart’s own childhood.  Send feedback and tell us your thoughts, theories, or references we missed at picard@baldmove.com.  Hey there! Check out https://support.baldmove.com/ to find out how you can gain access to ALL of our premium content, as well as ad-free versions of the podcasts, for just $5 a month! The zombie apocalypse is a lot nicer when you have noodles and drinks. Jim hated this episode of The Ones Who Live, A.Ron found a few things to like. Jadis gets her moment in the spotlight (ew). There’s a new zombie type. George Lucas must have written the dialogue. Next week is the series finale! Send your feedback to twd@baldmove.com! On this episode of The Ones Who Live, silly action is balanced out by the stunning performances. Danai Gurira not only plays Michonne, she also wrote the script. A.Ron appreciates the emotional levels of this episode, Jim says “beep, boop”. Will Rick come back to his family? Doubtful since Judith was never mentioned.  Send your feedback to twd@baldmove.com! Rick and Michonne are in love and they need to hide it better. Surely Jadis knows her haircut is stupid. Jim and A.Ron have some strong opinions on fries vs. onion rings…and on The Ones Who Live, of course! (Stay focused, guys.) Dredd (2012)

Dredd (2012)

2024-03-0601:30:17

Dredd (2012) is already well-loved by Jim and A.Ron. This project was brought to you by Pete Travis (Vantage Point) and Alex Garland (Ex Machina, 28 Days Later). Find out how this action, sci-fi created a whole world with the minimum number of sets and actors. The effects are equal parts stunning and gruesome. Though this movie stars Karl Urban and Lena Headey, the slow motion might have stolen the show.  There’s a Matt Berry song in this movie.  Hey there!  Check out https://support.baldmove.com/ to find out how you can gain access to ALL of our premium content, as well as ad-free versions of the podcasts, for just $5 a month! The second episode of The Ones Who Live catches up with Michonne. Danai Gurira’s stellar performance overshadows the classic silliness of TWD. The Harfoots make an appearance. Once the Grimes are combined, it’s go time. What special name would you give to the zombies? Send your feedback to twd@baldmove.com! Dune: Part Two (2024)

Dune: Part Two (2024)

2024-03-0138:48

The highly anticipated sequel to Dune is here. Director Denis Villeneuve takes us back to the gray and brown wasteland of Arrakis where an uprising is brewing. Did this blend of sci-fi and fantasy intrigue Jim and A.Ron? Can Denis justify the THREE HOUR run time for half of one book?  Hey there!  Check out https://support.baldmove.com/ to find out how you can gain access to ALL of our premium content, as well as ad-free versions of the podcasts, for just $5 a month! Jim and A.Ron are back in the world of The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live. Scott Gimple’s fingerprints are all over this new project. Rick now matches his original comic book representation, a new super grain, and flaming hot zombies. Beware those Delts! Send your feedback to twd@baldmove.com! Ethan Coen sets out as a solo director once again to give us Drive Away Dolls. A quirky romp full of intentionally offensive humor, one unforgettable MacGuffin, and drug-fueled sequences. It’ll make you laugh, it’ll make you cringe. And Jim can’t think of any innuendos off the cuff…probably a good thing. The next Bald Move First Run movie is Dune 2! Spaceballs (1987)

Spaceballs (1987)

2024-01-3101:27:01

Spaceballs holds a special place in comedy and sci-fi cinema. The iconic lines and legendary performances are still so quotable. But does the movie as a whole hold up? Jim and A.Ron are here to find out. One thing is for sure, it’s got the same level of sanity as the current Star Wars sequels.  Thank you Joe for commissioning this podcast! Starship Troopers (1997)

Starship Troopers (1997)

2024-01-2401:24:41

Starship Troopers is the pulpy, sci-fi, satire that tried so hard to be a commentary that it seemed to miss its own point. From Paul Verhoeven, the director behind RoboCop (1987) and Total Recall (1990), comes a movie about bugs and fascism. Between the CGI and blatant metaphors, Jim and A.Ron explore the guts and glory of this weird adaptation. I don’t understand this recording, it’s about 25mins of them talking, and then it repeats the exact same 25mins again and again. Goofed recording?

That American Experience "Command & Control" episode it honestly one of the best hours of television I've ever watched. Anyone that hasn't seen it yet and is into Chernobyl, should definitely check it out. The story will not only shock you, but make you see how the United States don't necessarily have their nuclear power under 100% under control. It'll blow your mind to hear the amount of "Broken Arrows" the USA can't account for!
