Your world can start small and grow as you grow. We're gonna help you get started.  Secondly ... It's here! The version of Justice League we hoped existed and it's better than we could have thought. We all have a beginning to our gaming story, and for us that has to be comic books. Before there was anything remotely like the internet, we used to have to consume our content the old fashion way, printed words and drawings on paper. Going to the comic store was an adventure in of itself, as there weren't many out there and the printings were limited. It was rough, but it was worth it, and those early Marvel, DC and other independent comics got us started in fantasy, sci-fi, horror and more. Fast forward to today and the it feels like it's all become this huge monster with all the different facets connected together. Comics have become moves, games and tabletop RPGs.    Elfquest https://amzn.to/2URGdXz  Works by Joseph Michael Linsner https://amzn.to/2wbSawW  Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Collections https://amzn.to/38tSsxn  Visit our Website http://www.basementquest.com  Follow us at Facebook http://www.facebook.com/basementquest  Follow us on Instagram http://www.instagram.com/basementquest  Follow Mike on Twitter http://www.twitter.com/portugalviking  Follow Eddie on Twitter http://www.twitter.com/eddiejakes --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/basementquest/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/basementquest/support
You can't roll dice all the time. Sometimes you just want to sit back, pick up a controller and enjoy some digital entertainment shooting terrorists, rustling up vermin or slicing zombies. Video games are a great escape from reality either solo or with friends. Here at Basement Quest we have a long history of mashing buttons on various game systems plus PC. One of the main focus of this episode is the subject of first person shooters, their history and what it would take to get Eddie to like them more.  Visit our Website www.basementquest.com Follow us at Facebook @basementquest Follow us on Instagram @basementquest Follow Mike on Twitter @portugalviking Follow Eddie on Twitter @eddiejakes --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/basementquest/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/basementquest/support
The newest factions are coming into the Warhammer 40,000 universe and Mike cannot contain his excitement for the Sisters of Battle. What started out as a offshoot of existing faction is being developed into their own feminine-styled religious order with amazing skills and bonuses. While referencing the Nights of the Game Table blog, Mike breaks down the Adepta Sororitas while comparing some of the other armies strengths and weaknesses while battling the sisters.  Nights at the Game Table Article by Joe Beddoe Visit our Website www.basementquest.com Follow us at Facebook @basementquest Follow us on Instagram @basementquest Follow Mike on Twitter @portugalviking Follow Eddie on Twitter @eddiejakes --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/basementquest/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/basementquest/support
Since our launch we’ve had nothing but great support from the gaming community and since launching on Apple Podcasts we’ve received our first review. In celebration of that, we are dedicating this episode to the games that got us starting in the Palladium system. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and the Robotech RPG. We had been big fans of the original TMNT comic plus the Robotech television show, so being avid Dungeons & Dragons players, jumping into the RPG’s based on two of our favorite properties was a no-brainer. The license for these games has come and gone twice for Palladium Books but we still look on these games and the artwork fondly. With the release of Rise of the Skywalker, JJ Abrams has not rebooted, revisited, regurgitated, re-somethinged two great sci-fi franchises. We go through the current films compared to the classics and give our analysis on the state of the epics. Has he pushed them forward, simply played it safe or has he just straight up ruined them both. The boys of Basement Quest will discuss. Nothing can be more frustrating than when the party splits up into two different directions. Especially when you have a perfectly planned scenario for your players. You must now rely on your experience and wit to accommodate the players and keep the flow of gameplay going. Even despite best efforts the game can drag and players can become bored. This wasn't the case in our last adventure of Dungeons & Dragons Fifth Edition. In this episode we break down the scene and give tips for both player and DM's on the best way to handle these situations and still keep things interesting and fun for everyone. On today's podcast we're bringing Warhammer 40K into it, because it's not all just about pen and paper. Sometimes it's about tiny miniatures with ridiculous guns and insane vehicles. Eddie and Mike are both experienced Games Workshop players and miniature painters. We talk about our love of the game itself as well as the joy of collecting and customization that goes with painting your own miniatures. We also touch on how miniatures have improved all RPGs as well as share a couple of news stories about the future of Dungeons & Dragons video games.   Wizards of the Coast Buys Gaming Studio to Focus on Dungeons & Dragons Video Games- https://comicbook.com/gaming/2019/10/29/dungeons-and-dragons-tuque-games-purchase/   Donate to the Show at http://www.anchor.fm/basementquest  Visit our Website http://www.basementquest.com                                                                                                                         Follow us at Facebook http://www.facebook.com/basementquest  Follow us on Instagram http://www.instagram.com/basementquest  Follow Mike on Twitter http://www.twitter.com/portugalviking  Follow Eddie on Twitter http://www.twitter.com/eddiejakes --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/basementquest/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/basementquest/support
The moment has finally come and 30+ years of tabletop gaming has lead to this. Basement Quest! Some of our best games happened in our friend’s basement and lasted for days or weeks at a time in some cases. Epic campaigns that brought us into war, peace, adventure and horror. Those were easily the best times growing up. Now thanks to the wonderful world of the digital space we are able to connect with more gamers, artists, writers and more! What you are hearing and seeing is the yearlong passion project of the hosts Eddie “Focus” Jakes and Michael “Loki” Smith. The kickoff is a fun little debate between out hosts over the best fantasy role-playing-game in our opinion. We aren’t talking things like numbers or sales, but just pure content and mechanics of the games. Eddie will be arguing in support of the Palladium Fantasy RPG and Mike will be arguing for Dungeons & Dragons (mostly 5e).
