On this episode, the crew exchanges gifts, eats Christmas cookies, dissects the Folsom site even more, and introduces a new guest. Clay makes an apology to early Christmas light hangers. The crew tries to understand why the Folsom hunters killed so many bison. Clay gives away Josh's muzzleloader in the gift exchange and Josh handcrafts a belt buckle for Daniel. This episode is full of good Christmas vibes, and though Brent couldn't make it, he leaves a special holiday tribute to the crew. This is an in-the-field recording of the Bear Grease [Render]! Clay hosts his son, Bear John, and MeatEater's Cory Calkins, as they discuss a harrowing encounter they had calling in a black bear and grizzly at the same time. They recount the story Bear Newcomb's first-ever spring boar -- a blonde bear Clay calls "the most beautiful bear I've ever seen." Later in the episode, they touch on the second Genuine Outlaw podcast. This all comes to you straight from the back country as the boys sit around the fire and render down the fat of Bear Newcomb's bear. This episode is full of great stories and close calls.

If there was ever an event that Brent Reaves was born to be associated with it would have to be the World Champion Squirrel Cook Off in his home state of Arkansas. It was an eye opening experience for him and eating squirrels was only a small part of the festivities. Lots of fun in this one including a story that takes a brotherly hunting competition to a whole new level of extreme. Take your hat off and scoot up to the table, the squirrels are ready and it's time to eat on Meateater's This Country Life podcast.

On this episode of Bear Grease, Clay Newcomb and John Barry, author of Rising Tide discuss two Civil War veterans who pioneered the doctrine of controlling this great river, Charles Ellett and Andrew Humphries. They’ll show us how their obsession and rivalry shaped the way we manage the river and how that led to one of the most costly natural disasters in American history. We learn about Mark Twain, America's most celebrated writer, who was obsessed with being a riverboat captain on the Mississippi River. He bottled American culture in his writing and sent it to the world. We’ll also learn about the great Mississippi River flood of 1927. We're continuing down the river on the third episode of this series on the Mississippi River. Like William Faulkner, we're in pursuit of understanding the world. We really doubt you're gonna want to miss this one.

don't get what is the big deal. Solidly half of the GWoT veterans that I know have refused to wear underwear (due to chaffing from body salt + environmental sand so fine called "moon dust"). I haven't worn any since 2006 myself. A little hygiene goes a long way if ya catch my drift... Puked or not (well played Clay!) under roos don't matter but fresh socks do! choose accordingly.
Hello I was engaged to suspect #1 at the time of this raid. The NWTF had a video that they played on TV about the operation red bud. I had a vcr tape but I have no idea where it is after all of these years. I seen Claude this past weekend and he told me about his Podcast with you. It brought back a lot of memories.

The only thing Clay got right about the story from Campfire stories was that there was a Game Warden and that there was a mud puddle. That was it! Love this Podcast!
