Ian welcomes the spooky season with a selection of his favourite holiday classics! We kick it off with a ghoulish punk rock anthem from the Misfits, and then blast through some vicious local luminaries including the newest from Hedonist's debut full length, followed by an exhumation of an entire graveyard's worth of iconic doom from Pentagram, Electric Wizard, Candlemass and Black Sabbath. We'll also throw in eerie true metal ghost stories of NWOBHM vintage with Iron Maiden, Witchfinder General and Venom. Powerchord doesn't forget the extreme metal freaks either, because we're hauling terrifying thrash and death metal atrocities from Possessed, Frozen Soul, Sacrifice and Cannibal Corpse, and we might even throw some power metal into you trick-or-treat bag too... It's never too early to get into the spirit of the season, so come and empty a chalice and smash some pumpkins with us!
Coleman returns to talk upcoming gigs from Dispossessed, Severed Arm, Xul, Erosion, and Dead Congregation; plus a whack of killer new tunes from Vesperal, Hadopelagyal, and more.
This time joined by Shawn, Rob, and Phil from the Covenant collective, host Ferris rips through a playlist of offerings from the artists performing at Covenant X. Paired with Part I, a full 4 hours of programming devoted to the barely contained beast conjured by these underground devotees. A worthy prerequisite for faithful witnesses.
Jim is back in the hot seat this week to debrief about the Baroness show at the Rickshaw Theatre last night, and a pile of new tracks from bands in Vancouver to China and all over Europe. Get those horns up!
Ian's joined by Cass in studio to play a triumphant tribute to three dearly departed metal masters, Nisse Karlén, Brent Hinds, and Ozzy Osbourne. Plus, we'll be talking about a whole schwack of upcoming shows on this episode of Powerchord, including Haunt, High On Fire, Baroness, Die Spitz and the mighty Covenant Fest 2025! Get into it.
Coleman pays a delayed tribute to the late Ozzy Osbourne and his legacy, a local gig with Hail to the Void and others, some new jams from Ismere, Evoken, and more. RIP Ozzy!!!
Shawn from Covenant and Mayo from Invisible Orange join Ferris and Jim in the sinister studio to discuss this year's Covenant Fest. Part one of a two-part series, this episode details the first two nights of chaos. Study! Indulge. Prepare.
After a visit from the Rock n Roll Doctor Jim turns Red and Blue talking about the upcoming Baroness show at the Rickshaw Theatre on September 12th, where the band will be playing both albums in their entirety. Jim also got the new Hedonist record in the mail and gives the record it's maiden spin on the air in all of it's glory (keep an eye on this one, it's sure to be on a BUNCH of year end lists). After that we take a trip to Brazil to highlight some new releases out of that country and then we come back for a set of all local acts. Closing out the show Jim plays a track from Megadeth's debut record, earlier this week Dave Mustaine announced Megadeth will record and release one more album followed by one final tour before hanging up the axe.
Jim is in the hot seat with a birthday wish for Ferris, a goth/darkwave set, and some of the doomiest doom you've ever doomed. Smoke 'em if ya got 'em!
The metal world is still reeling from last week's loss of Mr. John Michael Osbourne, so needless to say, today's episode is all Sabbath and Ozzy. Ian is your host, and he's got plenty of classic Ozzy originals, some live stuff and some covers to pay tribute too... ALL HAIL THE PRINCE OF FUCKIN' DARKNESS!

Ian and Cass are back in studio, letting loose with a ripping slate of new tracks from Wretched Blessing, Grave Infestation, Waingro and Dagger! We'll talk last night's Ripped To Shreds show at the Wise Hall, then sink into an agonizing tar pit of sludge with a classic from the Melvins. Cass is gonna preview a band new single from local psych heroes Space Queen, and dig into a resin-caked seventies hard rock LP from the mighty Blue Öyster Cult, while Ian puts the pedal to the metal with relentless riff-a-thons by thrashers Condor, Nekromantheon and Satan's Wrath. We'll also preview some of the bands playing the 2025 Modified Ghost festival at the Rickshaw next weekend, with punishing tracks from the likes of prog-death titans Atheist, horror-grind masters Pig Destroyer, and legendary Canadian thrashers Sacrifice!
