Week 8 is here, and with just over half of the season gone, there is already a matchup with playoff implications on the line. #13 Notre Dame plays host to #20 USC for another chapter of this storied rivalry. With Notre Dame already having two losses, a third loss would all but eliminate them from playoff contention. USC has a tough stretch of Big Ten games to end the season, so a loss to Notre Dame would make their playoff chances even less-likely. Ross Dellenger returns to join Andy Staples and Steven Godfrey to discuss this matchup and who they think will come out victorious.Later, there are multiple Top 25 matchups in the SEC on Saturday. You will get to watch them all back-to-back-to-back starting at noon eastern with #10 LSU visiting #17 Vanderbilt. #5 Ole Miss at #9 Georgia is the game that follows, and the night finishes up with #11 Tennessee visiting #6 Alabama. Can Ole Miss take down Georgia again? Can Diego Pavia keep Vandy on a playoff track? Is Alabama poised to win the SEC? Happy Valley is not so happy as of late. Preseason expectations of a deep CFP seem to be of a distant past after the firing of James Franklin on Sunday. Andy Staples and Steven Godfrey dive into how Penn State fell so fast and what led to the firing of a head coach whose team was ranked #3 just three weeks ago. Then the guys look at who Penn State should look to hire to be their new head coach. Should they try to poach big names like Alabama's Kalen DeBoer or Nebraska's Matt Rhule, or should they look at one of the hot new names like Oregon offensive coordinator Will Stein or Syracuse head coach Fran Brown? The guys discuss what options are on the table.Later, there are more hurdles to now jump over for the Big Ten's attempt to get a private equity deal done. In Ross Dellenger's latest article, he explains why USC is now against signing a private equity deal. Ross is out today, but Andy and Godfrey break down what all is going on and if the Big Ten will, or even should, ever get a private equity deal done. Finally, the guys discuss a few notable topics from what we've been seeing on the field. First, they dive into the massive success, thus far, of Texas Tech. After an expensive offseason, it seems that all of the NIL investment is paying off. The Red Raiders are ranked seventh in the country and are currently undefeated going into Week 8. Andy and Godfrey discuss if they will face any hurdles in the Big 12, or if Texas Tech is going to run away with the conference. Then, they keep up the CFP talk but shift to a conference that will be fighting for a bid. The American Conference has been impressive this year, and the guys are convinced the winner of this conference will head to the CFP, but the question is who will that be? Four teams sit at the top with undefeated conference records currently. Navy, #22 Memphis, #19 USF and Tulane. Who will come away with the title and probably a CFP berth? All of this and more on today's College Football Enquirer.(1:28) - What led to James Franklin's firing?(9:52) - Who should Penn State look to hire?(29:19) - The Big Ten's latest private equity issue in Southern California(44:43) - Texas Tech's Big 12 dominance(51:53) - The American Conference to the CFP?

Week 7 is here and it is a big week for the Big Ten's undefeated teams. The premiere matchup on Saturday will be #7 Indiana visiting #3 Oregon. Both teams are coming off of a bye following close games the week prior. Andy Staples, Ross Dellenger and Steven Godfrey discuss this matchup and debate who they think holds the advantage. It will be a matchup of two top coaches in college football alongside two of the premiere quarterbacks in the game. The teams appear to be pretty evenly matched, but who will come out on top? Then the discussion shifts to the top team in the nation as #1 Ohio State takes a visit to #17 Illinois this weekend. Ohio State's defense is on pace to be historically dominant behind All-American safety Caleb Downs. Ross talks about his interview with Downs and his takeaways from that chat. The guys then discuss what Ohio State's road to the playoff looks like. Also, they discuss #15 Michigan paying a visit to USC. It appears the fans of both teams are starting to grow a little restless with their head coaches and Andy thinks that the fans of the losing team may start to jump ship. Later, we briefly step away from talking games because there is some important college football news to discuss as well. The college football season is about halfway over and there are a lot of teams' seasons that are sitting in the middle of catastrophe and staying in the College Football Playoff hunt. Andy Staples, Ross Dellenger and Steven Godfrey discuss which of these teams may survive and who may be looking for a new coach at the end of the year. Does the losing coach of LSU and South Carolina have to be concerned for his job after so much preseason hype? Is the loser of Texas and Oklahoma eliminated them from CFP contention, or would Oklahoma be able to survive a loss? Will Hugh Freeze be out with a loss to Georgia?Later, a major controversy was the talk of the sports media world yesterday and today the guys discuss. The controversy surrounded Paul Finebaum's absence on ESPN after his interview with Clay Travis, where Finebaum spoke about potential interest in running for Republican Senate in Alabama. By the time the episode was released, Arkansas had indeed fired Pittman, who was in his 6th season. Former Arkansas head coach, and current offensive coordinator, Bobby Petrino, has been named interim head coach and he made it clear that he is interested in removing that interim title. Andy, Ross and Godfrey discuss why this may be a more desirable job than it appears and who might be a fit for the new era of Arkansas football. It has been a busy Week 5 in college football and there haven't even been any games played yet. Tuesday was a drama filled day in the state of Oklahoma. It was announced that three games into his 21st season, Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy was fired. The Oklahoma State legend had taken the school to unprecedented heights, but in recent years there was more struggle than triumph. Losing 11 of his last 12 games, and starting the year with a 1-2 record, that included a 69-3 loss to Oregon and a loss to Tulsa, appeared to be the final straw. Andy Staples, Ross Dellenger and Steven Godfrey react to the firing and discuss where it all started to go wrong for Gundy in recent years. Plus, some other news that came out on Tuesday was that Oklahoma's starting quarterback, John Mateer, broke his hand in Oklahoma's victory over Auburn and needed surgery. He is presumed to be out about a month, but no official timeline has been released. The guys discuss if Oklahoma can survive without Mateer, especially heading into the Red River Rivalry on Oct. 11. Can they still make the playoffs with a few losses if they look good when Mateer returns? Later, Ross gives us his report from the commissioners' meetings this week. Ross was on-site for the meetings where the College Football Playoff formats of the future were discussed. How soon may we get a new format or will we get one at all? It appears a new committee may be formed to help aid in that decision. A frustrated Godfrey chimes in with Andy as the guys give their thoughts on the proceedings. Plus, Ross gives us an update on the SCORE Act in his Congressional Minute. Finally, the guys discuss games. It is a loaded week of fantastic matchups in college football and the guys try to get to as many games as they can. They spoke Tuesday about the big game at Penn State, but what about another big matchup in Athens, GA as #17 Alabama visits #5 Georgia. Plus, top ranked Ohio State goes to Washington, #4 LSU visits #13 Ole Miss and #11 Indiana looks to keep their momentum going at Iowa. Then the guys give their picks for this week's I've Got A Feeling. Rice, Syracuse and the Notre Dame OVER are the picks for this week!Get ready for an epic week 5 with us at College Football Enquirer. (1:37) - Oklahoma's John Mateer out after surgery(10:18) - Mike Gundy fired(21:07) - Commissioners discuss a new CFP(32:41) - Ross' Congressional Minute(35:46) - Previewing #17 Alabama @ #5 Georgia(44:25) - Previewing #1 Ohio State @ Washington(47:31) - Previewing #11 Indiana @ Iowa(48:54) - Previewing #4 LSU @ #13 Ole Miss(53:15) - Other notable games(55:58) - I've Got A Feeling

#3 Penn State hosting #6 Oregon leads a stacked Week 5 slate in college football. It will be a White Out in Happy Valley on Saturday for the Ducks' first trip into Nittany Lions territory. Oregon got the best of Penn State in last season's Big Ten Championship game, but there is a key difference for Penn State this year. New defensive coordinator Jim Knowles. Knowles knows the Ducks well from facing them twice last season when he was the defensive coordinator for the national champions, Ohio State. Ross Dellenger talked with Knowles in the offseason about making the switch from Columbus to Happy Valley. Andy Staples and Steven Godfrey join Ross as they discuss the impact Knowles is having for Penn State this year, how important this game is for James Franklin and what we can expect from this matchup.Later, the guys chat about the release of part of the new SEC conference schedule. The annual opponents for each team have been revealed. Andy, Ross and Godfrey discuss how these matchups were decided and what we should take away from this new schedule. The rest of the schedule is to be released later today. Plus, the ACC followed the SEC's lead and announced they too will be playing a nine-game conference schedule starting in 2026. Each of the Power 4 conferences is now playing a nine-game conference schedule, but there are still some inequalities among conference schedules. The guys discuss what these are, how they can be adjusted and what this scheduling impact could mean for the future of college football.Lastly, all 32 Division 1 conference commissioners are meeting this weekend. It is expected a new CFP format will be discussed along with a host of other notable topics in the world of college athletics. Ross will be there and while he does not expect there will be much news on the CFP front, there is sure to be plenty of information that will come out of the meetings. We will get his report from the meetings on Thursday.Thursday will also hold a conversation about Oklahoma State's firing of Mike Gundy.Get prepped for an epic Saturday on today's College Football Enquirer.(4:02) - #3 Penn State's showdown with #6 Oregon(27:11) - SEC's new annual opponents for their nine-game conference schedule(44:12) - ACC announces a nine-game conference schedule(50:04) - What we may find out from the conference commissioners' meeting

One month has passed in the college football season as Week 4 is now in the books. There were some dominant performances that led the way including #17 Texas Tech dominating #16 Utah at the line of scrimmage. The college football world has been interested to see the Red Raiders get tested after an offseason of revamping their team through the portal, spending heavily on NIL. On Saturday, at least, that plan paid off as the Red Raiders came out of Salt Lake City with a 34-10 victory. Andy Staples, Ross Dellenger and Steven Godfrey discuss if Texas Tech is the best team in the Big 12. Plus, there was a big matchup in Norman, Oklahoma as #11 Oklahoma squeaked out a win over #22 Auburn. The guys discuss what this matchup told us about each school and what their season may look like going forward.Later, they discuss another dominant win as #19 Indiana got their first win over a Top 10 team in five years with a 63-10 beatdown of #9 Illinois. Was Illinois overrated or is Indiana actually that good? The guys discuss. They also take a look at a few other embarrassing losses from Saturday. Oklahoma State, Clemson and North Carolina all look like programs in disarray. Can any of them salvage a season, or is it doom and gloom for them this year? The guys chat about each program's issues. Lastly, the American Conference has been very impressive this season and people have started to take notice. The guys feel confident the winner of this conference is going to the CFP, but who might that be? They discuss the various options of who may claim that spot and what the success of this conference means for college football. Can the non-Power 4 conferences still be successful in the current age of college football? The American Conference's success seems to suggest so. Catch up on anything you missed from a wild Week 4 on College Football Enquirer.(5:47) - #17 Texas Tech dominates #16 Utah(15:11) #11 Oklahoma survives #22 Auburn(24:01) - #21 Michigan hands Nebraska their first loss(29:00) - Wisconsin continues to fall apart(34:30) - #19 Indiana dominates #9 Illinois(37:40) - Oklahoma State continues disastrous season(40:45) - Clemson's worst start under Dabo Swinney(44:06) - North Carolina struggles under Bill Belichick(52:07) - The American Conference continues to impress(1:00:25) - Who else impressed in Week 4?(1:07:02) - Looking at Week 5

Week 4 is upon us and it is a huge weekend for the Big Ten. The game everyone has been talking about involves two schools that have not been thought of as powers in the conference, but they may have something to say about that this year. 9th-ranked Illinois visits 19th-ranked Indiana in the first big test of the season for both schools. Steven Godfrey explains why he thinks this game is so important for the Big Ten. Andy Staples and Ross Dellenger join in on previewing the game. Another notable Big Ten matchup this week involves 21st-ranked Michigan visiting undefeated Nebraska. Michigan goes into the game without head coach Sherrone Moore, who is serving part of his suspension from the Michigan penalties. The unusual part is that Moore was not only suspended for the game, but he was also suspended for the whole week. The guys discuss this unique situation and give their thoughts on how this game may play out. Later in the show, Andy, Ross and Godfrey discuss the spirited press conference from Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney. Although no one truly believes he is getting fired, the guys discuss why he may have decided to say all that he said. They also dive into Clemson's chance at making it back to both the ACC title game and the College Football Playoff. Then, we get our update from congress in Ross' Congressional Minute, which shockingly only takes one minute. There is news about the SCORE Act, and whether it's good or bad depends on your feelings about the act itself. Finally, the guys can't preview a weekend without making picks! I've Got A Feeling is here and Andy is looking for his first win of the season as he, Ross & Godfrey make their picks. Memphis, Nebraska and UTSA lead the way this week. They also give you some other games to keep an eye on this weekend. Get ready for Saturday with College Football Enquirer. (2:02) - Nebraska hosts #21 Michigan without Sherrone Moore(13:45) - #9 Illinois visits #19 Indiana(18:29) - #17 Texas Tech visits #16 Utah(23:06) - Tulane visits #13 Ole Miss(27:09) - Dabo Swinney's explosive press conference(38:50) - Ross' Congressional Minute(45:54) - I've Got A Feeling picks(55:10) - Other games to watch

here's a novel concept, when you upload a podcast to a streaming service make sure the whole f****** podcast is on and it's not cut off at the end like most of them are lately
All respect to this podcast, but this is not the College Football Equirer without Dan and Pat.
Started listening recently to add another CFB podcast. USC @Michigan as a “most anticipated game” told me everything I need to know. Bad, bad take.
What a waste of my hour!! SEC BIAS all day long.
People's Court... M.O. sued M.B., not Geico, for negligently giving her an STD. Her attorney alleged M.B. was negligent so that there was a possibility of insurance coverage. Because their insured was sued on a theory of negligence, Geico would have represented their insured under what's called a reservation of rights. At some point, Geico decided that passing on the STD was not a covered event under the policy. M.B. then filed a bad faith suit against Geico for refusing to defend him and that would have made Geico a 3rd party defendant. It's not the woman who's suing Geico - it's the man who gave her the STD. My only question is why is this case in federal court? if M.O. and M.B. both live in Kansas, the case should be i state court.
Always good to see the SEC, ACC and Big 12 care so little about their student athletes. If the kids are going to play, they need to be paid for exposing themselves to the virus.
Bush doesn't owe USC an apology. The boosters who provided the cash and the house owe USC an apology.
Dabo Swinney is nothing but an old white southern conservative who thinks blacks should "stay in their place." He will never say or do anything to piss off the wealthy white boosters at Clemson. He is part of the problem.
Sure, expand the playoff and turn regular season college football into something as meaningless as college basketball. Maybe make the conference title games the first round.
Shouldn't matter whether a player got injured. You either win or lose. Bama lost to LSU. They aren't the best team in their division. No playoff spot for them.
Pat - thanks for picking Auburn, go Gators!!!
The show's more fun when it runs off the rails.
Lauding A&M for beating up on Northwestern State? Really? Can't wait for the hype after they beat the Seven Blind Sisters of Mercy.
Pat, your column is good but you are wrong about mayo. It's nasty.
