Hosted by Ash Kelley and Alaina Urquhart from the hit show Morbid. When 90-year-old Laurence Pilgeram drops dead on the sidewalk outside his condo, you might think that’s the end of his story. But, really, it’s just the beginning. Because Laurence and others like him have signed up to be frozen and brought back to life in the future. And that belief will pull multiple generations of the Pilgeram family into a cryonics soap opera filled with dead pets, gold coins, grenades, fist fights, mysterious packages, family feuds, Hall of Fame baseball legends, and frozen heads — lots of frozen heads. From Wondery, comes a story about life, death, and what comes next.Follow Frozen Head on Amazon Music or wherever you get your podcasts. Fuck. Smile started so good. but as a person with OSDD, no professional will (or at least none EVER should) tell you that you have a "split personality". if anything, it would be multiple personality disorder (MPD). which is a term outdated since, I believe, the 70's. and resolving this story by "mental illness - there's someone evil inside you, oh well". it's both incredibly stereotypical and not much of a satisfying ending, I gotta say. if you WANT to throw doubt at her own responsibility for these murders (not that one can't be held accountable for an alter's actions at the end of the day... that's honestly a lesson that took a while to learn, that even knowing you didn't do it, accepting that it's up to you to deal with it will help you. it at least allows you to regain some measure of agency over yourself. you can't change what someone else did, but you can mitigate the consequences. anyways.), there are many things that can make a person lose control of their life like that. an alter just opens a whole nother conversation you aren't going to be able to actually address when disassociative identity disorder (DID) was your plot twist. and in the end, hearing FROM the character that has committed these atrocities could have been a much more intriguing angle than it coming from the victim of their whims. which brings up another issue. conditions like these don't come from nothing. in the end, they are, on some level, an -if flawed- attempt to fix or work through an issue you're dealing with. in other words, if she explicitly developed an alter who thought KILLING these people was a good idea, this indicates that somehow their murder seemed necessary to protect the two of them. yet there is no real indication of this. all we have is people scared of them, seemingly BECAUSE one of them is capable of ending lives. I'd really enjoyed the story in its initial vagueness and it built a really enjoyably eery atmosphere. but that ending is just.. no.

"Obsession may not be classified as a mental illness" OCD: Am I a joke to you? but in all sincerity, this story is a masterpiece. the combination of the authorial experience being used as a mirror to describe the events, in a manner that sometimes clarifies and sometimes obscures, and the way it essentially drives toxic masculinity and toxic femininity to an intriguing peak... yeah, it's good.
