If you’re a fan of YouTube you’ll probably be familiar with the name Mark Tilbury, but if you’re not, Mark is self-made millionaire and social media educator who teaches business, personal finance and investing to millions and especially the next generation. Mark has an incredibly inspiring story. He left school at 16 with no qualifications or money, and his first job was making wooden trash cans, and it paid less than $2 per hour. He took the risk to start his own business and 30 years later he is a 7-figure CEO. In the conversation we talk about all things entrepreneurship including how to start your first physical or online business, what it really means to think like an entrepreneur and the power of passive income. Mark believes anyone can become wealthy by thinking like an investor & entrepreneur and hopefully this episode will show you how you can too.Sponsored by Huel - go to https://www.huel.com/deepdive and with your first order you’ll get a free t-shirt and shaker.Sponsored by Trading 212 - download the Trading 212 app https://trading212.com/promocodes/ALI and use the promo code "ALI" after signing up and depositing to receive a random free share worth up to £100.Sponsored by WeWork - visit https://www.we.co/ali and use the code ‘ALI’ at checkout to redeem 50% off your first booking.(00:00) Intro (01:32) Your background (03:20) Should you go to university?(13:00) Selling your time and starting YouTube18:40 Changing career paths (23:45) How much is entrepreneurship innate? 31:00 Your initial business34:31 How to get a business off the ground(45:11) What is a business?(49:12) Why people struggle to charge more?(01:01:37) Physical vs online businesses (01:08:05) Buying vs renting (01:10:17) Common questions around finance(01:19:09) Die with zero vs generational wealth(01:23:16) How important is work life balance?(01:27:12) Running a business with your son(01:29:33) What’s your end game?(01:31:51) Levels of wealth(01:40:16) Your interview with Andrew Tate🔗 CONNECT WITH MARK🎥 YouTube Channel - https://www.youtube.com/@marktilbury 💌 Newsletter - https://www.strikeitbig.com/newsletter📸Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/marktilbury🐦Twitter - https://www.twitter.com/marktilbury📱Snapchat - https://www.snapchat.com/add/marktilbury🌍Website - https://www.marktilbury.com🔗 CONNECT WITH ALI📲 Join My Telegram Community - https://t.me/+bH5gLHty5kBiOGZk🎥 YouTube Channel - https://www.youtube.com/c/aliabdaal🐦 Twitter - https://twitter.com/aliabdaal📸 Instagram - https://instagram.com/aliabdaal💻 Website - https://aliabdaal.com👥 Linkedin - https://www.linkedin.com/in/ali-abdaal/📄 SHOW NOTES & TRANSCRIPTVisit the website for the transcript and highlights from the conversation - https://aliabdaal.com/podcast/🎙 ABOUT THE PODCASTDeep Dive is the podcast that delves into the minds of entrepreneurs, creators and other inspiring people to uncover the philosophies, strategies and tools that help us live happier, healthier and more productive lives. 🎧 LISTEN FOR FREE Apple Podcasts - https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast...Spotify - https://open.spotify.com/show/7gZkflC...RSS - https://feeds.transistor.fm/deep-dive🙏 LEAVE A REVIEW If you enjoyed listening to the podcast, we'd love for you to leave a 5-star review on Apple Podcasts to help others discover the show :) https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast...👋🏼 GET IN TOUCH You can also Tweet @AliAbdaal with any feedback, ideas or thoughts about the lessons you've learnt from the episodes and we can thank you personally for tuning in 🙏PS: Some of the links in this description are affiliate links that I get a kickback from 😜

Believe it or not, if you’ve been feeling like you just can’t bring yourself to focus, are constantly battling procrastination, or even struggling with low mood, it’s probably because you’re not looking after your gut. In this episode I sit down for a conversation with Sophie Medlin, one of the UK's leading experts on gut health. Sophie is a dietitian, chair of the British Dietetic Association and a lecturer at King's College London. In the conversation we discuss how the connection between gut health and mental health has become an emerging area of research, how to feed your body with the right foods to optimise your cognitive performance and we also discuss weird and wonderful nutrition myths that have been circulating on social media over the past few years. Liv Boeree is a World Series of Poker and European Poker Tour champion, and the only female player in history to win both a WSOP bracelet and an EPT event. Liv’s story is super interesting, because she actually has a degree in astrophysics and combined her science background and passion for games to get into the world of poker and win all these championships. These days Liv spends her time as a science communicator and games specialist, and focuses on educating others about how to apply scientific rational thinking techniques and things like game theory to the decisions we make in our everyday lives. Navigating through decisions in life can be a pretty difficult sometimes, but the single thing this conversation taught me is that, there’s a lot of principles we can steal from poker (like thinking processes and resilience strategies) to help us along the journey. In the conversation we talk about a whole bunch of things and by the end of the episode you’ll learn:
Game Theory: How lessons from poker can help you build resilience, and make better decisions for your life.
Effective Altruism: How humans can become better philanthropists by using logic and reason to figure out the most high expected value thing we can do to solve the worlds most pressing problems.
Safe AI Development - Why AI is the most high-stakes creation by humans to date and what their implications are for our future.

Cliff Weitzman is one of the most inspiring people I’ve ever met, he’s the CEO and founder of Speechify, which is the #1 text-to-speech app that converts books and anything on the internet into an audiobook. Cliff originally built Speechify because he has dyslexia and growing up struggled to read, but after sharing it with the rest of the world the app has now been downloaded by 20 million+ users. Cliff is only just getting started having done all of this in his 20s and being listed in Forbes’ magazine's 30 Under 30 list. What makes for a loving relationship that lasts? For over 40 years Drs. John and Julie Gottman have devoted their life to answering this question with the research and practice of fostering healthy, long-lasting relationships. Through studying thousands of couples, publishing over 200 academic articles, more than 40 books on the topic and co-founding the Gottman’s Institute, John and Julie have created interventions to change the way that couples relate to each other to help people succeed in the future of their relationships. In the conversation, John and Julie give me a masterclass in everything there is to know about building long lasting relationships, we cover the four key reasons why relationships fail, communication strategies, rituals to cultivate deeper connection and their latest book The Seven Day Love Prescription which distills their work into a seven-day action plan for deeper intimacy. A lot of the time it can feel like we’re living our lives on autopilot, without considering how much or how little our day to day activities actually add value to our lives. But what would happen if you took the time to study your life and figure out what kind of life you want using the magic of intentionality? In this episode I speak to Ryder Carroll, the creator of the bullet journal, about his self-discovery productivity method that helps you organise your thinking around the things that matter to you and ultimately reach your goals. Ryder invented the bullet journal method after being diagnosed with learning disabilities early in life and was forced to figure out alternate ways to be focused and productive. Bullet journalling has now exploded into a global community, used by thousands of people (including me) to effectively track the past, order the present and design the future of their lives. Happy New Year! While I’m currently working hard writing my book and getting ready for Season 5 of the podcast which is just around the corner, I thought I’d share with you a bonus episode taken from the livestreams I recorded during lockdown (which aren’t available anywhere else on the internet). This episode is a conversation with Derek Sivers, a writer, musician and entrepreneur who founded CD Baby, an online CD store for independent musicians, back in 1997. That’s a wrap on S4 of the Deep Dive 🎉 In this episode I look back at some of the key lessons I’ve learned from this season including from conversations with Tara Swart, Alex Hormozi, Russell Foster, Caspar Lee, Timothy Armoo, Matthew Hussey and Lana Blakely. But before I bring this season to a close I have one small favour. At the moment, 81% of people who listen to and watch the the podcast on YouTube aren’t subscribed - I’ve set myself a 2023 goal to bring this number down to 50%. So if you’ve ever liked any of the videos that I make please hit the subscribe button and join the fun. “The pathless path is an alternative to the default path. It is an embrace of uncertainty and discomfort. It’s a call to adventure in a world that tells us to conform. For me, it’s also a gentle reminder to laugh when things feel out of control and trusting that an uncertain future is not a problem to be solved.” - from The Pathless Path by Paul Millerd. In this episode I sit down for a conversation with Paul Millerd, a writer, creator, and consultant. A few years ago Paul had everything he thought he wanted from his corporate job at the most prestigious consulting firm in the world. But after realising he was on the wrong path in life, he decided to walk away and figure out how to live a life that actually mattered to him. In the conversation we talk about his book The Pathless Path, the ultimate companion for people struggling to figure out what to do with their lives, which traces his journey from certainty and tradition to uncertainty and fulfilment. So if you’re thinking about leaving your job, taking off on a new adventure or simply wanting to approach work and life with a little more curiosity, this episode is for you.
