If you asked his coworkers, his family, or his wife, they would have told you that Richard Evonitz was a stand-up guy; a Navy veteran, a hard worker, and a devoted husband who was known by friends and neighbors to lend a hand when something needed to be fixed. Only a few young women knew the truth about him, but sadly found out after it was already too late. That is, until his last victim used her cunning survival skills to stop him from ever committing his heinous acts of depravity against anyone else. These are the crimes of Richard Evonitz, also known as the Spotsylvania Killer, and the stories of Sofia Silva, Kristin Link, Kati Link, and Kara Robinson. Learn more about your ad choices. Hi, I'm new to your podcast, I lived in Washington since birth until 2 years ago. I really enjoyed listening to this episode. I've been to Lake Crescent even swam in it... yikes. I was a chaperone at a camp there called Nature Bridge, when we were out on boating we were told this story, didn't know it was a true story sounded like old folklore. It is a beautiful lake & area we also hiked to the waterfalls and to the top of Mt. Storm King. I would recommend visiting. Thank you for sharing.

I can't even listen, the story disturbs me so much. Mary met a demon. She seems to be happy and thriving now which is nothing short of a miracle. she's a much stronger person than most of us; I don't believe I could ever recover like she did. An amazingly brave woman.

His recorded "confession" sounds like he's making it up as he goes along. They give the best descriptions of this guy in this episode: fucking loser, super pathetic, fragile little man, and a "piece of absolute dog shit".
