We’re back with another episode I filmed in New York City! I got to sit down with my dear friend Noelle to discuss grief and the holidays. Noelle has experienced tremendous loss in her life, losing both of her parents at a young age. Yet through it all, she has found a way to not only carry on traditions that connect her to her past, but to create new memories and traditions with her daughter Ever. It was so inspiring to listen to Noelle share the many layers of her grief journey and how motherhood has given her a new lens through which to view her relationship with her own mom. Noelle has demonstrated that while grief is a dance between sadness and joy, finding ways to honor our loved ones keeps their memory alive. I hope this conversation helps you as you head into the holiday season. HIGHLIGHTS 03:45 How Noelle experienced grief and loss differently at different ages. 08:15 Grief, motherhood, and memories after losing a parent.  13:15 Holiday traditions and memories.  18:30 How did your move to New York City impact your closeness with family? 23:45 What can you do to honor past memories while building a happy future? 27:00 How does honoring memories of loved ones who have passed help you heal? It’s my birthday! Today, I’m doing a solo episode to celebrate turning 37 - can you believe it? I wanted to share some of the biggest life lessons I've learned so far. Lessons and thoughts about aging, trying something new, and that we’re allowed to change our mind about things. I also talked about trusting my intuition over what others say, how your body will change but that's okay, and why grief is a tunnel, not a cave, so keep walking forward. I would love to hear from you - what are some lessons you’ve learned over the years that came to mind while you were listening to this episode? Send me a DM on Instagram! HIGHLIGHTS 04:30 Aging, regret, and finding joy in life's journey. (4:47) 09:45 Midlife changes, personal growth, and embracing new experiences. If you follow along on Instagram, you saw last week I got to record a bunch of podcast episodes in New York City in person! While normally I record podcasts in my car, this conversation with Dr. Judith was another unique experience! We recorded this in the safe in her office and talked all about setting boundaries with family during the holidays, which I know is something a lot of people struggle with. From setting healthy boundaries for work to your in-laws, Dr. Judith gave some really helpful tips on identifying what boundaries you need and how to talk to people when they're crossed. I'm definitely gonna try some of her advice to make sure I'm taking care of myself this season.  HIGHLIGHTS 07:00 How to set boundaries in difficult family dynamics.  14:45 Ways to stay on the same page as your spouse as you communicate and set boundaries (especially with critical) in-laws. 19:45 Pros and cons of technology and ways to set healthy boundaries from work. 23:15 How can working mothers set boundaries and prioritizing self-care?  29:00 Self-care and mental health with Dr. Judith Joseph.  RESOURCES + LINKS Want to feel more peace? About two weeks ago, I posted a reel on Instagram that has gone a bit viral about how I was going to the doctor for something that I originally went to the doctor for when I was 14 years old and how sometimes, as a woman, it can feel like you're just not being heard. There are so many women who feel uncertain on how to advocate for themselves in a lot of areas in their life. So let's talk about it. Also just give a little bit of an update on where I'm at with part of my health because as I've talked about it online, so many of you are struggling with a lot of the same pain that I have been in so I thought we'd just do an update and make it a little more juicy, a little more fun. HIGHLIGHTS 05:15 My experience and hesitation to advocate for my own health as a woman. 11:00 Why you should trust your intuition and advocate for yourself in medical situations. 19:00 You are worth feeling good; self care and support you need to take care of yourself. 27:45 Ways to advocate for your physical and mental health. I’m finally answering a question I get in my dm’s every single day, “Why don’t you show your daughter's face on Instagram anymore?” As much as I love showing up and connecting with you all online, I’m sharing some real reasons I’ve decided not to show our daughter online right now. I’m a believer that there is so much good in the world. Unfortunately there are also trolls. None of us know how the next generation is going to operate as the first to grow up having their life documented and shared on this internet. Listen in as I share some of the reasons that I’ve come to to protect my family’s privacy. I also share some details on my collaboration with  HIGHLIGHTS 05:45 Postpartum, mental health and social media criticism.  10:45 Navigating social media as a parent with a newborn.  16:15 The online harassment I experience and protecting my Personal life. 20:15 Hiding my baby from social media to protect mental health.  RESOURCES + LINKS Get 10% off our special collaboration with Love Olive Co -  https://loveoliveco.com/collections/ashley-lemieux?ref=ASHLEYLEMIEUX Want to feel more peace? I can pretty confidently say that every single one of us has grown up hearing someone speak negatively about their body, and we definitely didn’t learn skills like intuitively eating in school. Now as we’re navigating taking not only ourselves, but many of us taking care of our kids it’s no wonder we’re stressed about food and knowing how to raise physically and mentally healthy kids. I’m so excited to have Megan from Feeding Littles on the podcast. She is a dietician, certified intuitive eating counselor, and co-founder of Feeding Littles. She is your gal to not only help teach you what and how to approach feeding your kids, but also learn and model a healthy relationship with food and your body! We talk about body image, incredible tips for feeding your kids, and what to do if you feel like you’ve already “ruined” your kids by what you’ve said or modeled for them.  HIGHLIGHTS 02:15 What is intuitive eating? 08:00 How to change the way we talk about our bodies because our kids are watching. 16:30 Give yourself grace to teach your kids to love their bodies even when we aren’t there 100%. 19:45 How much should we feed our kids and teach them to be intuitive eaters? 32:00 When is a good time and way to introduce sweets? 35:15 Advice from a nutritionist about how much candy to give your kids on halloween. 43:15 Your job isn’t to make your kid eat, it's to LET them eat. 46:30 How to help your kids get familiar with new foods. 52:15 What is one thing parents can focus on to help their kids eat well? Today, I am so excited to be joined by my friend, Jenna Rammel! This is a very exciting episode for Jenna and I as we have not seen each other in almost four years! In this episode, we will be chatting about friendship loss. A term that I like to use when discussing this topic is ambiguous loss and this refers to losing an emotional connection with someone who is still alive, whether that be a romantic relationship or a friendship. We will be talking about how to maintain our own personal confidence after losing a friend, tangible tools to help get us out of a negative mindset, as well as traumatic friendship losses including ghosting. Let’s be honest though, sometimes it is our fault. Sometimes we do (unintentionally) do things that hurt our friends or cause them to stop speaking with us, so Jenna and I will discuss conflict resolution as well as dealing with the guilt that comes from hurting someone you love, and the life changes that can alter friendships. Today, we are touching on a question that so many of you have asked and I myself have struggled with as well and that is, how do I find myself again? After so much loss, it can be so difficult to figure out where we even fit in the world because we often feel a huge blow to our confidence after experiencing something hard or unexpected. We internalize feelings of guilt and we blame ourselves for not doing things differently. While guilt is a totally normal response to grief, it’s so important that we talk about it and let it out. And that’s why, in this episode, we are going to be discussing identity attachment, increased emotion due to grief, and a change in values. I also want to remind you that grief can come from any type of loss, not just a death. So, remember that your feelings are valid, you are certainly not alone, and you are worthy of joy.
