Good evening, everyone, and welcome back to Horror Hill. Tonight’s episode features a story by Pine Moon Poet, entitled “The Alpha Syndicate–The Secret Garden.” This continues the story of Markus Kent, an ex-cop who got headhunted to join an organization that handles things a bit more serious than shoplifters, vandals, and even murderers. Markus is now part of the Alpha Syndicate’s Whiskey team, and has already stared down otherworldly horrors in Egypt. In fact, we covered Markus’ first mission back in Season 6, Episode 17 of Horror Hill. While not necessarily required, you might have a deeper appreciation of this story if you listen to that episode first. Well, good evening, listeners, and welcome to Season 8 of Horror Hill. Tonight, we’re going to be finishing up our cliffhanger from last week, closing out “The Book of Agony” by Dagan Billips. If you haven’t heard that episode yet, I highly recommend you check it out before continuing here. For the rest of you, here’s a quick recap of the story so far. Ben is a twelve year old boy living in Tennessee, and he has a few problems. His best friend, Daniel, was found dead under mysterious circumstances, his parents are horrible to him, and to top it all off, a strange book has appeared in Ben’s room. Ben has been having violent dreams, watching his friend die over and over, and now, Daniel himself has been visiting Ben, urging him to read the book and do him some unnamed favor. Hello, listeners, and welcome to season 7, episode 20 of Horror Hill. As always, I’m your host, Erik Peabody, and we got a particularly vile double-feature for you tonight. These two stories have been hand-picked to make you squirm. Last week, I mentioned how much I enjoy a despicable protagonist, and I’m doubling down on that sentiment this week. Hello again, listeners, and welcome back to Horror Hill. I’m your host, Erik Peabody, and we’ve got two spooky stories for you tonight. First, from Matt Howes, we have a delightful period piece titled “The Sunken City.” In the grand tradition of HP Lovecraft, our protagonist is hunting down rumors of a lost city in the uncharted waters off of southern Africa. It seems that new obstacles are popping up at every step of his journey, but he dauntlessly (and potentially foolishly) perseveres. What horrors await him in the sunken city? Will he escape with his life, and his sanity intact? Who can tell... Following that, we have “Road Killer,” by Geddy Cahoon. Our story opens with our hero (and believe me listener, I use that term loosely) named James, as he’s extracting his shoe from some sun-baked roadkill on an empty stretch of highway in the desert. Poor James’ car has broken down, and he’s already late for an appointment with his ex-wife and his son, two people that James does not hold in high regard. Unfortunately for him, his troubles are just beginning. I love a story that has a solid piece-of-shit protagonist, and James is absolutely someone that I love to hate. Hello, listeners, and welcome to Season 7, Episode 18 of Horror Hill. I’m your host, Erik Peabody, and we’ve got a creepy double-feature for you all to welcome in the new year. Our first story is “The Disappearing Boy,” from PD Williams. Lenore is a high school student at Ridley High. She has just met a new student, the sullen and down-trodden Tommy Naughton. It quickly becomes apparent that there’s more to Tommy than meets the eye, and things quickly spiral into the horrifying. I’d also like to thank Danielle Hewitt, who will be joining us on this story. Following that, we have KE Brown’s “The Sidewalk Man,” in which a freak accident causes a nearby college student to start seeing strange things. What is real, and what is the result of the brain responding such a traumatic event? Welcome to 2023, listeners. Let’s start things off on the right foot with something spooky, shall we? Hello, listeners, and welcome to Season 7, Episode 17 of Horror Hill. I’m your host, Erik Peabody, and we’re closing out the year with a fun little tale of old world magic. Something I’ve always enjoyed about folk myths and legends is how directly deities and demigods influence the lives of mortals. It takes a lot of the guess work out of living, don’t you think? If you’re doing something that your god doesn’t like, well, they might just come down and tell you so. Or fill your house with vipers or something. Then again, it might not always simplify things. Take our story tonight, for example. Our unnamed narrator has been tasked by the witches of his village with finding their Yule Tree. This involves his venturing into the nearby sacred woods with an axe to find the one special tree that The Horned God will allow them to cut down. However, the benevolent Horned God is not the only being in the forest, and this one might not have our protagon ist’s best interests at heart. Oh, and I forgot to mention that today’s story features both Nick Goroff and Geoff Sturtevant. Nick and Geoff, thanks for making this one extra special. Hello, my friends, and welcome to season 7, episode 16 of Horror Hill. I’m your host, Erik Peabody, and tonight’s episode brings us something a little different. We spend a lot of time on this show taking a look at supernatural horrors. Ghoulies, and beasties, and things that go bump in the night. For my money, though, some of the most terrifying tales are about actual horrors that you and I might encounter in our day-to-day lives. I’m not talking about getting mugged or stalked or anything overt like that, but about something more… insidious. Quiet, calculating practices to shape the mind of a person, a group, and maybe even a society. Tonight’s story, “Secret Santa,” provides one extreme take on just that. Make sure you’re bundled up with a steaming mug of something nice, because this one gets chilly, friends. *Sniff, sniff* Do I smell peppermint? Welcome to season 7, episode 15 of Horror Hill. I’m your host, Erik Peabody, and I’ve got a good one for you tonight. Our winter-themed horror spree continues this week, with a tale by Austin Case. In the grand tradition of many other Christmas stories, “Yuletide by the Fireside,” opens with some light marital discord. Jennifer and Mark are on their way up to a lovely (and remote) cottage for the holiday, where Jennifer struggles with finding time for work obligations around the usual festive merriment. However, their picturesque winter getaway is about to take an unexpected turn. I’ve got to tell you, folks, I really enjoyed this one. I like it when a well-written tale isn’t afraid to go for the jugular. Also, I have a special treat for you today. Chilling Tales for Dark Nights veteran Olivia Steele is here to voice Jennifer, so please join me in welcoming her to this episode. I guess that Christmas came early for us this year. Well, hello there, my friends. Welcome to season 7, episode 13 of Horror Hill. In my little corner of the country, the temperature has been dropping lately, and the weather has turned snowy. With things getting a little grim outside, it seems to me like it’s a good time to turn our attention to winter festivities, like hot cocoa and snowball fights. That’s right folks, we have a whole month of winter-themed stories for you, starting today. However, no amount of snowball fights and hot cocoa will keep the protagonists of today’s story safe. In this chilling tale, brought to you by fan-favorite Corpse Child, a father and his young son eagerly await the first snow of the season. Their excitement is tempered by several bizarre occurrences, like the sighting of a stranger on their property, and a schoolyard rumor about a hungry snowman. Welcome to Season 7, Episode 12 of Horror Hill. I’m your host, Erik Peabody, and we’ve got two thrilling stories for you tonight. “Rain,” by DC Morrison, introduces us to Samuel, a recent law graduate that is moving to Nevada to begin his career. The small town is nice and welcoming, but Samuel begins to think that something else might be going on under the surface.  After that, we’ll move on to “Pop-Pop’s Guide to a Happier Life,” where a man named Carson starts receiving life lessons from his dear, departed grandfather. I’m not sure where you’re listening from, my friends, but I know that I’m beyond excited for this veritable Thanksgiving feast of delicious horrors. Now, let’s get started, shall we? Welcome to Season 7, Episode 11, of Horror Hill. I’m your host Erik Peabody, and tonight we’ll be concluding the story that has been our focus for the last two episodes. If you haven’t already listened to those, I recommend doing so before diving into this episode.  However, if you’re just chomping at the bit to jump in, here’s a quick synopsis. David, Brandon, Jack and Eric are four friends that live in Pine Bend, North Carolin a. People and animals have been going missing in this usually quiet community. After Brandon is attacked, and his wife Alex taken, they realize that something unnatural is hunting them all. As Brandon recovers in the hospital, the remaining friends enter the forest to find Alex and confront the evil that has been threatening their town. Now that you’re up to speed, I think that it’s high time we finish up this story To watch the podcast on YouTube: http://bit.ly/ChillingEntertainmentYT Don’t forget to subscribe to the podcast for free wherever you're listening or by using this link: https://bit.ly/HorrorHillPodcast If you like the show, telling a friend about it would be amazing! Welcome to Season 7, Episode 10, of Horror Hill. I’m your host Erik Peabody, and tonight we’re continuing a story that we began last week. If you haven’t had a chance to listen to that episode yet, I would strongly recommend doing so. Tonight’s episode continues that story, which takes place in Pine Bend, North Carolina.  To provide a brief refresher of what’s happened so far, our story follows four friends: David, Brandon, Jack, and Eric. These four have slowly been realizing that something unnatural is happening in and around Pine Bend, and the situation has become terrifyingly personal. Tonight’s episode provides the next part of that story, which will continue for several more weeks. As we jump back in, I’d like to leave you with one of the tag lines for a favorite horror movie of mine, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. I feel that it’s particularly relevant as these events continue to unfold. That line, of course, is, “who will survive, and what will be left of them?” To watch the podcast on YouTube: http://bit.ly/ChillingEntertainmentYT Don’t forget to subscribe to the podcast for free wherever you're listening or by using this link: https://bit.ly/HorrorHillPodcast If you like the show, telling a friend about it would be amazing! Welcome to Season 7, Episode 9! I’m your host Erik Peabody, and tonight kicks off the first part of a terrifying trilogy. Pine Bend is a quiet, safe community in the foothills of North Carolina. Its humble residents enjoy hiking, hunting and small town life. All that is about to be interrupted by a gruesome murder and a savage attack. The locals search for a man that is responsible but are the more primal, something more, evil. The Shultz family is about to have their love and loyalty put to the test as they seek out this terror in The Pines. Welcome to Season 7, Episode 8! I’m your host Erik Peabody, and tonight brings us to our Halloween episode. What trope will we focus on this evening? Hmmm….. Pertrifying pumpkins perhaps? I finally got fed up with the commercials and the insane length of the intros and paid for the "patrons version". Can you guess what I discovered? THERE ARE STILL COMMERCIALS!!! Only now, instead of just dealing with the commercials peppered throughout the program, I also have a continuous stream of thumbnail ads playing across the top of the screen. I paid $5 for this, what a crock of BS! Don't waste your money!!!

Honestly, I almost stop listening to horror Hill because of these damn commercials for the apology line. I’m a truck driver, and I count on being able to do things without having to take my eyes off the road. Having to hunt for the last episode I was listening to because after every episode it takes me to the apology line commercial at the top of the list, doesn’t help me. At this point, I don’t even want to listen to the apology line because I’m so pissed off from having to search where I was because the freaking apology line commercial takes me to the top of the freaking playlist.

Two thumbs down. Nothing horrific here. First story was just silly with cliché characters and middle school-level writing. The second had almost no actual story. Jason's excellent narration couldn't save these two.

Two excellent, creepy tales. I love Soren's voice, but I think Mr. Hill did the story a great justice.

Two misses for me. That second story was overly descriptive and painfully slow. 30 minutes of narration for a guy to walk into a house and pick up a book.

Damn, Jason Hill NEVER had 5 to 6 Ads in one episode, where are ya man ?? They want to inundate us in a sea of advertisment, so when we finally feel like we're drowning in them we will donate to the cause, but jeez the stories need to be on a higher level of quality ( like they used to be, we miss you Jason) if you want us to cough up some dough!!
