Description

In 1973 Hell came home and invaded the body of a young girl. This is the story of a movie and its makers. It's a tale of dark and light, of loss and love. A story of faith and fury, of causes and curses, of horrors real and imagined, of unbridled ego and brute force filmmaking. It's the movie critics called "religious pornography" and "occultist claptrap." The movie that left audiences...hysterical. Decades later, it remains perhaps the most frightening movie we will ever see. From Wondery, this is a seven-part deep dive inspired by the story behind an unforgettable, classic movie. This is...Inside The Exorcist.

The story of The Exorcist is rooted in horrifying facts. Robbie is a young boy living in suburban Washington DC and he has been possessed by...something. Young Linda Blair loves horses, young William Friedkin loves scaring people, and young William Peter Blatty hears the story of the haunted boy in his religion class at Georgetown. It was so shocking, he would never forget it. One day, he will write it down.Subscribe today so you never miss an episode: https://smarturl.it/itexSupport us by supporting our sponsors!See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
From the creators of Inside The Exorcist, Mark Ramsey Media and Wondery, comes this magical mix of fact and fiction which transports you into the world of Hitchcock amid a deep dive into the mysterious and peculiar happenings that occurred during the filming of the legendary film Psycho. The film now is among the greatest thrillers in movie history--but it nearly didn't happen!See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
Why The Exorcist? Why tell the story of the film and its makers in podcast form? And why choose a fresh audio graphic-novel storytelling approach? Those are just a few of the questions answered in this “behind the scenes” look at the making of one of the hottest podcasts of the year. Series creator and narrator Mark Ramsey talks with the show’s amazing sound designer Jeff Schmidt. Don’t miss the discussion about the secret “Easter egg” hidden in the audio that was only recently discovered by a Russian fan, or the inspiration for the chilling ending (hint: It is a movie, but it’s not The Exorcist).See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
In this bonus episode, series creator Mark Ramsey talks with producer and writer Jeffrey Reddick, who is best known as the creator of the Final Destination movie franchise. What is the legacy of The Exorcist? How is it shaping today’s horror films? What makes the movie - even today - so powerful?See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
In the first episode of Inside the Exorcist, you learned about the shocking real life inspiration for the movie The Exorcist: a young boy in the DC suburbs named Robbie, whose frighteningly bizarre behavior was explained away as demonic possession. Little did anyone know, when Robbie’s story was recounted in religion class decades later for a transfixed William Peter Blatty, future writer and director of Exorcist, it became the seed that would blossom into one of the most influential horror movies of the last century. If you want to hear the rest of Inside the Exorcist you can binge all seven episodes exclusively on Wondery Plus.On Wondery Plus, you can listen to all your favorite podcasts early and ad-free. I love this podcast. The narration is immersive and very enjoyable. I actually was interested in the Exorcist and I have never been able to watch the movie lol It got me emotionally involved in Star Wars. Do Dr Suess next! I am SO interested to hear it this way.

I feel like I missed something. This is marked as episode one, but the two men speaking don't even really introduce themselves and just start in on a conversation that after a couple of minutes had me checking make sure that I hadn't skipped ahead or missed an episode. it just sort of starts out of nowhere.

annoying ending that undermined it all. if you are trying to give us facts why end the series with something fake and pretend it's real? lost a lot of credibility with those fake calls to rob.

I'm laughing at the underwear and in the middle of all this ostensible horror. First impressions: the narrator doesn't have a radio voice, he sounds too earnest and I don't like the way he reads dialogue, using his own voice for all the characters.

I've not finished the first episode and the story has been interrupted twice to advertise their new series about jaws. I'm yet to decide if I like this series. Pretty sure the epidode opened with an ad for jaws aswell.

Absolute garbage. Inside the Exorcist? I thought I was going to get an in-depth look at the making of a horror classic. Instead, I get nonsense stories about a BS exorcism, read as though it's being presented to second graders. A total embarrassment.

I'm from the city where bill brinkley died. I freaked out because I couldn't believe a guy who wrote about robbie in the Washington post died in my home town!

I really liked "Inside Psycho" but can't really get behind this. Too little time dedicated to the actual movie and the making of it, with a lot of time dedicated to myths, uninteresting plotlines and some observations made in poor taste, like the ISIS segment in the last episode. This series has a lot of potential if it focuses just on facts rather than on thoughts, myths or straight made up stuff.

The story is fragmented and hard to follow and the narrator hasn't learned how to effect a pregnant pause effectively, making him sound like a male version of siri. The underlying material is good if you can handle the bad delivery

Holy crap! The ending was insane, I loved the entire series but WOW, I've got to say that ending was Stephen King worthy. Kudos

The whole theatrical approach works well.. but you don't have to believe in God to be freaked out by the Exorcist!
