And I completely agree with Candace that the mother should’ve been arrested !! Absolutely!
This is an extremely tragic story. I would really like to understand the background history of Mary Bell’s mother. How far back does this disfunction and sickness go in her family?? There were so many people who failed Mary Bell.
So much wrong information in this episode. Did you even watch the trial?
It's pronounced Mur-DOCK. If she can't get that right, I'm inclined to take anything else she has to say with a pinch of salt.
Paul didn't have the opoid addiction, Alex did.
12:52 GOOD!
Crime will never be eradicated as long as there is poverty, since poverty directly begets crime (as well as malnutrition, mental illness, and premature death).
I wonder if things would’ve been different for Ken if he would’ve had a loving father instead. Ken loved animals as a child. His sadistic father changed all that. I suspect his father did A LOT more abuse behind the scenes. Ultimately, sadly Ken chose to be an abuser himself and The law failed the townspeople. I don’t support anarchism but in this case the townspeople had little choice. Ken needed to be stopped from terrorizing and harming people.
honestly, the mom should be charged with aiding a criminal or whatever. how can you see all those BRIGHT FLAMING RED FLAGS, and be like, "nah, he's good."
Can you do Diana Downs? I would really love to hear your thoughts on her. I found your podcast about a month ago and watch all the time. I even send your episodes to my friends. I enjoy your insights.
It's hard to say which government agency is the most corrupt, but the DEA is a strong contender for the top spot.
love Candice but come on now, this has to be her attempt at fiction
I call b.s. lol
I like it when Candace talks alone. Not a fan of the co-host. Can’t Candace just tell the story without this annoying woman interrupting?
Oh christ! We get it. We’re not children. Enough with the disclaimers. We know she’s telling a story. Are people that sensitive now?
I do find it troublesome that she refers to targets of an investigation as "bad guys", and the investigators as "good guys"... This is a gross oversimplification and a nod towards dehumanization, as no human is either 100% good or 100% bad. Using this terminology also potentially corrupts the quality of the investigation: the purpose of doing an investigation is to determine *whether* an individual has violated the law. Calling them "bad guys" before the investigation has even started encourages confirmation bias at every step of the process.
"Morally Indefensible" is another great podcast that goes into detail about this murder, the subsequent trial, and Joe McGinniss's correspondence with convicted family annihilator Jeffrey MacDonald that shaped his book and his views about the case.
I just love this podcast 😍
I love the theme music in this season better than last season’s. This episode was interesting. I don’t remember hearing about this case. I am surprised she was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia! I am not an expert but completely disagree with that DX.
EMS deserve to make way more money, as do teachers for that matter!
