New York Knicks face roster questions as OG Anunoby’s absence exposes defensive gaps—can this team truly contend for an NBA title? Gavin Schall and Kris Pursiainen examine how the Knicks’ lack of wing depth and reliance on Anunoby have shifted the squad’s defensive identity, especially against physical opponents like the Orlando Magic. The duo analyzes recent struggles, highlighting the impact of injuries to key defenders and three-point shooters, and raises provocative questions about the team’s construction and championship viability.Comparisons to elite NBA teams such as the Oklahoma City Thunder and Houston Rockets reveal how rookie contracts and draft strategy help create flexible, resilient rosters with better injury insulation. The conversation explores potential pivots and trade targets, like Tyrese Martin, that could fill voids left by injuries. Is New York’s current path sustainable, or must the front office retool to keep pace with deeper, more adaptable rivals?Want to talk hoops with us? part of what you're not getting by just looking at statistics when Robinson is in the game is the absurd number of turnovers that happen when people were trying to force him the ball. I counted at least six turnovers where either Robinson was either not expecting the ball or fumbled it. He is amazing on defense and I love having him out there for put backs but the stats aren't telling you the turnover situation because they are counted against the passer and not him.
Trade Julius and Fournier for whatever draft capital we can get. Tell Thibs that if Burks plays more than 20 minutes or gets any touches at point guard he gets traded. Run that back out together with whoever we draft #1. If that team can win 43 games we become an interesting young team for a star to want to play for.
