The White Scars are a fierce and nomadic Space Marine Chapter known for their lightning-fast hit-and-run tactics, inspired by the Mongol horsemen of ancient Terra. Descended from the gene-seed of Jaghatai Khan, their Primarch, they favor speed above all else, employing highly mobile bike-mounted warriors and rapid assault forces to outmaneuver and annihilate their foes before they can react. Unlike many other Chapters, the White Scars embrace a warrior's freedom, valuing personal honor, cunning, and adaptability over rigid doctrine. Their homeworld, Chogoris, is a vast steppe where only the strongest survive, shaping them into deadly hunters and raiders. Despite their savage appearance and warlike customs, the White Scars are deeply philosophical, contemplating the nature of war and fate as they carve their path through the endless battlefields of the 41st Millennium.

During the Horus Heresy, Jaghatai Khan, Primarch of the White Scars, found himself caught between loyalty to the Emperor and the temptation of Horus' rebellion, as his Legion was largely isolated from the unfolding civil war. Initially hesitant to commit, Khan ultimately chose to stand with the Imperium, waging a brutal hit-and-run campaign against the traitors. His most defining moment came during the Siege of Terra, where he led his warriors in lightning-fast strikes across the palace defenses, notably engaging the Death Guard and their corrupted leader, Mortarion. In a legendary duel, Khan fought the Daemon Primarch, suffering grievous wounds but proving the resilience and adaptability of the White Scars. His leadership ensured that the Scars played a vital role in defending Terra, cementing his legacy as a loyal but fiercely independent Primarch.

Jaghatai Khan, the enigmatic Primarch of the White Scars, was discovered on the storm-wracked steppe world of Chogoris, where he rose to power among the nomadic tribes through sheer strength, cunning, and an unbreakable will. Unlike his brothers, he embraced the ways of the land’s horse-born warriors, valuing speed, adaptability, and personal freedom above all else. When the Emperor found him, Jaghatai bent the knee but never surrendered his independence, leading his Legion with the same swift and brutal tactics that had made him a conqueror on Chogoris. During the Great Crusade, he carved through the stars like a lightning bolt, waging war with unmatched mobility, striking where the enemy was weakest before vanishing into the void. Yet, for all his glory, he remained an outsider among the Primarchs—misunderstood, underestimated, but always victorious.

Gork and Mork, the twin gods of the Orks, embody the brutal, anarchic essence of the green tide. Gork is brutal but cunning, striking with overwhelming force, while Mork is cunning but brutal, hitting when you least expect it. Orks don’t waste time on complex theology—worship is as simple as fighting, shouting, and believing hard enough to make reality bend. Their gods don’t whisper in the warp like Chaos deities; instead, they loom over Orkdom as ever-present, unknowable forces, guiding warbosses and WAAAGH!s with instinct and sheer, unshakable conviction. Whether it's a good scrap or a clever ambush, Gork and Mork are always watching—grinning with big, jagged teef.

In this episode, we dive into the tantalizing possibility of a fifth Chaos God—an entity beyond the Big Four that could reshape the balance of the Immaterium. Could it be Malal (or Malal), the renegade Chaos power of anarchy and self-destruction, lurking in the shadows of forgotten lore? Or is the Emperor himself on the path to apotheosis, becoming the so-called "Dark King," a god of order, sacrifice, and war? We explore the hints, theories, and implications of a new force emerging in the Warp—one that could change the very fabric of the Warhammer 40K universe.

Today, we turn our gaze to Slaanesh, the Dark Prince of Excess, the god of pleasure, pain, and unchecked indulgence. Born from the hedonistic downfall of the Aeldari, Slaanesh is a being of contradiction—offering ecstasy but demanding agony, promising perfection yet reveling in corruption. From the decadent halls of the Emperor’s Children to the twisted depths of the Warp, we’ll explore how Slaanesh tempts mortals and daemons alike, drawing them into an eternity of obsession. Prepare yourselves—this is indulgence taken to its most terrifying extreme.

Another deep dive into the dark Gods of the Warp. Today, we turn our gaze to Khorne, the Blood God, the Lord of Skulls, the eternal patron of war and slaughter. Unlike the scheming Tzeentch or the decadent Slaanesh, Khorne demands only one thing—bloodshed. To him, the reasons do not matter; betrayal, honor, desperation, vengeance—all are mere sparks that ignite the never-ending fire of war. His throne, built atop an endless mountain of skulls, grows ever higher with each battle fought in his name, and his warriors, from the lowliest cultist to the mightiest Daemon Prince, care for nothing but the raw, unrelenting fury of combat. Whether it’s the blood-drenched berzerkers of the World Eaters or the frenzied hordes of Chaos-worshiping warbands, all who live by the blade ultimately pay tribute to Khorne. The Blood God cares not from whence the blood flows, only that it does.

The Lord of Decay, the Plaguefather, Grandfather Nurgle—whatever name you call him, this Chaos God is both horrifying and strangely affectionate. In this episode, we dive into the bloated, disease-ridden embrace of Nurgle, exploring his endless cycle of death and rebirth, his devoted followers, and the grotesque gifts he bestows upon the galaxy. From the shambling Death Guard to the daemonic Nurglings that cackle in delight, we uncover the twisted yet oddly joyous nature of Chaos’ most infectious deity.

Tzeentch, the Chaos God of Change, Schemes, and Sorcery, is the ever-shifting force behind the twisting paths of fate in Warhammer 40K. Unlike the brute force of Khorne or the indulgence of Slaanesh, Tzeentch thrives on manipulation, deception, and grand designs that stretch across millennia. His followers—sorcerers, warp-seers, and mad prophets—seek forbidden knowledge, wielding eldritch magics that warp reality itself. But to serve Tzeentch is to walk a path of endless uncertainty, for even the most loyal disciples are but pawns in his incomprehensible plots. In this episode, we unravel the labyrinth of lies, prophecies, and power plays that define the Great Architect of Fate.

The Iron Warriors, led by their grim and calculating Primarch Perturabo, were the epitome of unrelenting siege warfare during the Great Crusade. Tasked with the most brutal and grueling campaigns, they were the Emperor's hammer, breaking through the most fortified of enemies with relentless precision. Yet beneath the surface, their dedication to fortresses and walls—symbols of their unwavering discipline—was a reflection of the isolation and resentment that festered within them. The Iron Warriors were often overshadowed by their more charismatic brothers, their feats of victory overshadowed by a bitter sense of being underappreciated. This sense of betrayal came to a head during the Horus Heresy. As Horus turned against the Emperor, Perturabo and his Legion followed, embittered by years of sacrifice and what they saw as the Emperor’s cold indifference. The Heresy was not merely a rebellion—it was an opportunity for the Iron Warriors to finally assert their dominance, their hatred for their former masters only growing as they tore the Imperium apart with the same relentless precision they had always known.

In this episode, we delve into the dark and calculating mind of Perturabo, the Primarch of the Iron Warriors, during the Siege of Terra and the Great Scouring. As the Horus Heresy reaches its violent crescendo, Perturabo stands at the forefront of the Chaos forces, relentlessly driving his Legion in the brutal assault against the Emperor’s Imperial Palace. Fueled by a bitter resentment towards his brothers and the Emperor’s perceived rejection, Perturabo takes perverse pleasure in dismantling the defenses of Terra, tearing apart the monumental works of Rogal Dorn. Following the failure of Horus and the death of the Warmaster, Perturabo’s grief and anger are palpable as he leads the Iron Warriors into the Great Scouring. Betrayed by the galaxy he sought to shape, the Primarch's fury only deepens as he embarks on a campaign of vengeance.

Born on the harsh world of Olympia, Perturabo was a child of logic, discipline, and cold efficiency. Yet, from the very beginning, he was burdened by resentment and an unshakable sense of isolation. As the Emperor reclaimed him and placed him at the head of the Iron Warriors Legion, he quickly proved his brilliance as a master of siege warfare, city-breaking, and relentless attrition. But for all his successes during the Great Crusade, Perturabo’s legacy would be marred by bitterness, endless toil, and the suffocating weight of duty.

Teleportation in the grim darkness of the 41st Millennium is a violent, unstable, and often catastrophic affair, where the very act of moving through space is an exercise in brutality. The Imperium's teleporters, housed within the labyrinthine depths of ancient warships and fortress-monasteries, function through arcane calculations and brute-force mastery of unstable energies, violently tearing warriors from reality and hurling them through the raw madness of the Warp before forcing them back into existence—if they survive the journey intact. The Necrons, with their cold and pitiless logic, phase through realspace using ancient and unfathomable technology, vanishing in a haze of crackling energies only to reassemble elsewhere with eerie precision, untouched by the horrors of the Immaterium. Orks, in contrast, embrace sheer chaos, their ramshackle Tellyportas working not through science, but through the sheer force of belief, often flinging their warriors into battle in mangled, screaming masses—or simply detonating them in a spectacular burst of misplaced confidence. The Aeldari’s webway, a labyrinth of hidden paths between worlds, allows them to sidestep the perils of teleportation entirely, yet even they risk disaster should the ancient routes collapse or be invaded by daemonic forces. Across the galaxy, teleportation is as much a weapon as it is a tool—a forceful, merciless manipulation of reality itself, where the price of instant travel is often blood, madness, or obliteration.

what happed to lorehammer are they done I am only on episode 70 but I see they have not posted anything new ???
started listening to you guys to help motivate me into finishing my Death Guard army for 10th 🫡
I have to disagree that it is necessary to start with a small self-contained, or at least self-explanatory, story to get into WH40k. Myself, I started with a premise - fantasy world in space, except everything is different! - and from there dived into each aspect to see how the WH40K version differed. I think the first aspect I dived into was the Warp because "how does magic work?" is always a question on my mind. That might not work for everyone. It might be specifically for me because I attach more to lore than to characters, but I suspect I am not special.
why did this end :(
New to the hobby. Found this to help increase my lore knowledge. Still early in the series and plan on seeing it through. That being said, the amount of diversions and interruptions created by Erik to make points that do not serve the narrative or the discussion, but seem to only serve his ego are driving me crazy. Please tell me it gets better in the later episodes. These episodes would flow so much better and be 30-40 minutes shorter without these pointless tangential arguments.

Used to play 40k in the 90s as a teenager, then lost touch with it until recently and was intested in how the game and the lore had changed over the years. So this podcast is everything I need in learning and re learning the fascinating universe of Warhammer. These guys do a great job of explaining everything in detail while keeping it interesting
If only based Mark knew how bad it would get
You guys! Love the show. You need to do a penal legion episode!
they're going to censor you to hell on Spotify. They're already doing it to Rogan.
