What skills are involved in being a good writer? What makes a good piece of writing? How is writing different to speaking? What are the challenges faced by learners of English who want to write well, and what are some solutions to these challenges? How can AI help develop writing skills? And, what does it take to write your own book in English? These are all questions which I talk about in this episode, with the help of professional writer and returning guest Fabio Cerpelloni.Get the PDF transcript & summary of main points 👉 https://teacherluke.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/How-to-Write-Well-in-English-with-Fabio-Cerpelloni-975-TRANSCRIPT.pdfEpisode page 👉 https://teacherluke.co.uk/2026/02/09/how-to-write-well-in-english-with-fabio-cerpelloni975/Sign up to LEP Premium 👉 www.teacherluke.co.uk/premium🧔🏻 Fabio's website & blog 👉 www.fabiocerpelloni.com📚 Fabio's books 👉 https://fabiocerpelloni.com/books/ Hosted on Acast. [974] In this episode I read out lots of haiku poems, explain their meaning, discuss what they make me think and feel, and use them to teach you some vocabulary. The haikus I read include some traditional Japanese ones translated into English, plus more modern ones written in English by writers from around the world. Some of these haikus are meditative, some are sad, some are funny and some find a way to capture feelings that are otherwise difficult to put into words.Get the episode PDF 👉 https://teacherluke.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/Haiku-in-English-974.pdfEpisode page on my website 👉 https://teacherluke.co.uk/2026/02/02/haiku-in-english-974/Sign up to LEP Premium 👉 https://teacherluke.co.uk/premium Hosted on Acast. In this audio-only episode today you can join me at home as I potter around, and take time to relax while recording a rambling episode for you to enjoy. Enjoy the sounds of street noise outside, and my attempts to find the most comfortable spot in my flat where I can ramble about various things, including several robberies in Paris - one of which is the famous heist at the Louvre museum, where burglars broke in and stole precious jewels worth millions, in broad daylight. The other robbery was more painful - our own apartment, which was broken into earlier this year. Join me as I discuss all of these things and more. Hi, Luke! They were incredible, these two episodes, your friends and family were describing the places so vividly and you commented on their words so thoroughly that I feel as if I had been to those places myself)) Very interesting, thank you! As for me, I like to walk in the parks of the big city I live in. I like to find cosy, snug cornes and just stay there for a while pondering my life and life in general. Thank you🌹

Hi, Luke! Thank you for the story! I liked it and I liked you explaining things and sharing your thoughts even more. Living beings can't help evolving. I think evolution of humans and our greed combined will eventually destroy the world. That sounds sad. As to the story, if I were the main character and had managed to send a police officer to San Francisco the first thing I would definitely have done afterwards was to get him back to the town. If I had been afraid of his anger (no room left)

Hi, Luke! Thanks for the grammar lesson. It was very interesting and useful. What I learnt from it is the difference between using "used to do something" or "would do something" when describing habits in the past. I came across the structure "would do" referring to the past many times but I didn't have the clear understanding of it being used with action verbs only. And the episode was useful in terms of vocabulary as well. Thank you!

Hi, Luke! So cute both of you are, your daughter and you! I liked it about dog's legs vs a turkey's face, I would definitely go for dog's legs🦮 I wouldn't like to have a turkey's face🦃 Honey vs pearl, I find it a bit creepy, I mean, the explanation about the way they would be being produced. Perhaps, in many-many years they want to listen to your old podcasts and they will hear their dad breaking down the meaning of a swear word. Isn't it embarrassing? Probably, in your culture it is not, I don't know. I didn't mean to offend you or anyone else, sorry if I did. I love your podcasts, looking forward to new ones, you are amazing.
