In this episode of Narcissist Apocalypse, Carmella recounts how she found unexpected support from an engaged man during a personal crisis. Their friendship blossomed into romance, and then a pressured proposal, highlighting the struggle of reconciling the whirlwind of emotions with societal expectations and personal apprehension. As we further dissect coercive control dynamics, Carmella examines the effects of controlling behaviors and jealousy, the intense pressure to conform, and the emotional repercussions of a marriage shadowed by a husband's intrusive scrutiny, lack of privacy, and the unequal distribution of domestic responsibilities. Carmella also provides insight into the harrowing effects of escalating physical abuse and control, and the often invisible struggles of co-parenting post-divorce with an uncooperative ex-partner. It's a story of misogyny, pushing boundaries, jealousy, entitlement, physical abuse, custody, post separation abuse, court, divorce, narcissists, narcissism, domestic violence, domestic abuse, rage, bullying, lack of responsibility, emotional abuse, putdowns, financial abuse, lying, infidelity, and generational trauma. *** CONTENT WARNING - Physical Abuse is discussed in this episode. **** If you want to be a guest on our survivor story podcast, please click here or send us an email at narcissistapocalypse@gmail.com To help out our podcast, please fill out our listener survey, click here. Join me, your host Brandon Chadwick, as I sit down with the esteemed Dr. Christine Marie Cocchiola to unpack the complex issue of coercive control within intimate relationships. By using the unsettling coercive control allegations by Olya Sharypova against tennis star Alexander Zverev as our backdrop, we navigate the crucial shift in terminology from domestic violence to coercive control, offering a more encompassing understanding of these toxic dynamics. Our conversation delves into the pervasive nature of coercive control across all levels of society, from the personal to the systemic. Explore with us the psychological underpinnings of coercive control, including trauma bonding, grooming, and the role of narcissism. Dr. Cocchiola and I dissect the multifaceted aspects of control and manipulation, emphasizing the critical need for education on the signs of unhealthy relationships and the importance of early boundary setting. We also touch upon the challenging landscape victims face within systems like family courts, which can further perpetuate cycles of abuse. *** CONTENT WARNING - Physical Abuse is discussed in this episode. **** Dr. Christine Marie Cocchiola's website can be found by clicking here. In this week's abuse survivor story, Johana discusses her three year abusive relationship. Like many narcissistic abuse survivor stories, it all started with love bombing. And once the love bombing was complete, Johana's abuser had complete control as the truth teller in her world. From there, Johana's abuser started to weaponize his culture, and he began to employ every tactic in the power and control wheel. Isolation. Intimidation. Checking-in. Male privilege. Minimization. Denial. Blame. Gaslighting. Animal abuse. Financial abuse, Showcasing weapons. Putdowns. Johana's abuser used them all, and thankfully, Johana is still alive today and able to tell her story. It's a story of belief systems, using culture as a weapon, coping mechanisms, the power-control wheel, getting your voice back, animal abuse, physical abuse, addiction, guilt, coercive control, jealousy, intimidation, minimization, gaslighting, isolation, toxic masculinity, weapons, slamming doors, putdowns, competency, doubt, financial abuse, Disney, self esteem, self confidence, suicidal ideation, suicide attempts, self love, getting your voice back, trust issues, rage, anger, being assertive, making yourself small, and trauma. *** CONTENT WARNING - Physical Abuse, Animal Abuse, & Suicidal Ideation/Attempts are discussed in this episode. **** If you want to be a guest on our survivor story podcast, please click here or send us an email at narcissistapocalypse@gmail.com To help out our podcast, please fill out our listener survey, click here. alpha is outdated. Ceasar milan is an abuser. I'm glad she was a leader, not alpha.

This lady begins telling us that she grew up in a very loving home. That they were "good parents". Then proceeds to describe two dysfunctional adults who offloaded their emotional trauma on their daughter and always expected her to be the best at what she did. 🤔 That's not being a good nor loving parent.

The lady telling this story sounds like a narcissist herself. The way she describes herself. How it's the world against her. I don't doubt that this Janice woman was a piece of work, but I have serious doubts about "Meredith" too.

So I’ve never listened to a podcast before, just listened to Billy Jean on here and OMG. It’s nice to know others have experienced exactly the same. I’m only a month into healing, but if you ever need someone to interview, I’m here. Looking forward to listening to these stories.
