Not even them.CW: Frank discussion of historical racism and treatment of migrant workers, depictions of period racism, cult activity, shapeshifting, supernatural animal violence, gore, dismemberment of a dead body, references to the KKK (pejorative), spiritual/demonic possession themed elements, references to historical sex work, references to the death of an adult child. been looking to scratch the itch left behind by the magnus archives, and heard them recommend this one. I've always loved southern gothic and "not-deers" and the unique horror flavor only found in those american fields of corn or under the mountains shadow. the prologue was interesting enough to draw me in, but this first story is a fantastic start. The parable esque format with the encounter, the homey and wise southern grandpa around a campfire vibe, all mixed with that uncanny way that american monsters often pretend to be what they arent, was just perfect. *chefs kiss*. excited to see what the next stories bring.

I am so in love with this podcast & never thought it was something I'd be on to. Also love the Walker women- they remind me of my own mama. Fortunately she is still here & while not a Southerner, I've always said said she had a bit of a strong sassy belle in her even this far up north!
