Today we begin by talking about Nietzsche's concept of life-affirmation. Contrasting it with the renunciative, rational traditions of Western thought. The episode then delves into Greek tragedy through the lens of Simon Critchley's work; making a case for how these ancient plays offer a life-affirming perspective by embracing the ambiguity of human existence.

Gosh. Armstrong’s nirvana sounds progressively more frightening.
I think Stewart Armstrong vastly underestimates the nature of crime. All crimes are not crimes of passion nor do all crimes have a basis in reason. They’re sometimes driven by impulses, weak motives, as minor as a fly buzzing too close to a person’s ear.

I’ve been a fan of philosophy for years, and ‘Philosophize This!’ has quickly become one of my favorite podcasts! Stephen West does an incredible job of breaking down complex philosophical concepts into digestible and engaging episodes. https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/melissa-mateo
just the thing i was looking for ... thx for sharing this wisdom with us
is this really valid that we can't pinpoint recent past with specific determinors like music? one look in twitter and people are talking about "2014 being an iconic year for music" and similar sentiments. i understand the whole idea but we seem to still be clinging to this attempt of associating different times with different things. isn't 2020 and the pandemic the epitome of a "distinct moment in time" anyway?

My favorite episode so far. Hit em again!
I love this episode, I have recommended it to many friends, albeit nobody has listened :)
Is the Triune God of of the Bible systematically ruled out in your philosophical musings & rabbit holes ?

Great stuff, full of nuggets…
it feels very disingenuous to include anarchocapitalism in a discussion about anarchism. my own issues with anarchism aside it is a leftist philosophy that opposes capitalism - this 'philosophy' is just more Ayn Rand nonsense.
Quite new to my whole understanding of the media and the world ! really helped me leap out of the very frames social media or this modern smartness and productivity obsession has defined.
i would live to hear Zizek speak to Wittgenstein's later work.
