Although the show has multiple protagonists, the driving arc is that of Léonie Bijoux. A newcomer to this world of influence, Léo is unsure how she feels about it. But as Léo's wealth and status grows, she begins to sacrifice her principles in order to obtain a position as the royal clothier—a prestigious title where one faux pas can lead to execution.

Léonie and her mother Aveline attend the Duke of Milot’s coronation. As they wander the halls of Sans-Souci Palace, Léonie discovers the dark side of nobility.

After a long night of drinking and gambling, Emmanuel manages to tend to his debt collection duties. His latest debtor is none other than Léonie Bijoux.

Léonie interviews for a position at the House of Perdue and meets Antoinette, a haughty baroness who will do anything to protect her family.

Madame Perdue hosts a competition amongst the servants to attend the Royal First Communion. Léonie tries to impress the Baroness and win.

A surprise visit from the debt collector places Léonie and her mother in a desperate situation.

Antoinette tries to impress King Christophe at the Royal First Communion, but is once again upstaged by the House of Milot.

In the season finale, Léonie crashes the Royal Communion hoping to gain favor and earn enough money to repay her family’s debt. However, Antoinette has another plan in mind.
