Description

Comedian Adam Blank hosts "Remember The Game?", a retro gaming podcast. Each week, Adam and his guest will select a video game that they grew up playing, and spend time reminiscing about what they loved (or hated) about it. Not intended to be a history lesson, "Remember The Game?" is more like a conversation you'd overhear on the playground as a kid. The discussions are all over the place, and are guaranteed to fill you with that warm, nostalgic feeling. (Or rage, like you felt with the underwater level in the original Ninja Turtles game). Either way, it's gonna be fun! New episodes every Wednesday!

We'll be back with a standard RTG next week, but for now here's an episode of Expansion Pass from 2024 here I ranked every game we covered on Remember The Game from episodes 201- 300. Enjoy (I hope).See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

I was 12 when I started playing Pokemon Blue, and while I've been in and out of the series since, Gen I has long been a favourite of mine. So when Nintendo dropped the remakes of those games on the Switch, I knew it was time to show them a little RTG love. FireRed and LeafGreen are absolutely the definitive way to play Pokemon Gen I. Better graphics, more Pokemon, quality of life improvements, deeper mechanics, they're phenomenal games. Are they good enough to break my nostalgic ties to the OGs? No RTG this week, but I dug up my Mario Kart World review from last summer and slapped it up on the free feeds to give you something to listen to instead of your coworkers or family. You play as a boy and his dog, travelling through weird worlds and trying to find your way back home. The concept of the game is fantastic, and it does a lot of stuff well, but I don't know if it really does anything great. And SNES RPGs have a lot of great in them.Captain N of the Retrotopia podcast joins me this week to break down the world of Evermore, and we spent over an hour diving into the seedy (secret) underbelly of the world of Evermore. And before we get save our dog, I put together another edition of the Infamous Intro! This week someone asks if gaming has become a luxury hobby that just isn't accessible to everyone. If I could go back to RTG #1, what advice would I give myself? And is there a series I slept on for way too long??Plus we play another round of 'Play One, Remake One, Erase One', too! This one features 3 SNES RPGs: The 7th Saga, The Illusion of Gaia, and Lufia II.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

And this week we're going back to the year 2000 and looking at WWF SmackDown! 2: Know Your Role for the PSOne.Like so many of you, I played this one back int he day and loved it. The season mode, Hell In A Cell, backstage fights, it was insane. How has it aged 26 years later? Ehhh....The Mankind to my Rock, my buddy Andre, is my guest this week. We went over the highs and lows of the SmackDown sequel and talked about how it's aged while sharing memories of grinding through that season mode back in the day.And before we lay the smack down, I put together another edition of the Infamous Intro! This week someone asks if I've ever considered making a RTG video game?? You control this little black ball with a star face and use its Mr. Fantastic-esque arms to grab enemies, ledges, walls, and try not to die. It's not the most memorable game I've ever played, but it actually doe sa lot of things I normally hate very very well. A hidden gem in my books.Ye olde Bradley McCue is my guest this week and we talk about our likes and dislikes of fighting balls with stars. I'm not sure what else there is to say. Fun game. And before we shoot for the star, I put together another edition of the Infamous Intro! This week someone shouts out the Nintendo 64 for changing the gaming landscape. This was the one that introduced by the Mega Buster and Eddie. Eddie is great, but the Mega Buster is a little more...controversial. I don't know anyone that HATES it, but there's a group of Mega Man fans that prefer to play WITH it, and a group (that I'm part of) that prefer to play without it. whether you like the big buster or not, it doesn't take away from the fact that the Mega Man team was on their game in these days, and I think most would consider MM4 a classic game and valuable member of the NES 6.The Dr. Light to my Dr. Wily, Dan from Dissect That Film returns to this week to talk Mega Manning. This is his personal favourite of the OG series, and we talked for over an hour about the legendary robot master lineup, tweaks to the classic gameplay formula, and that sexy swinging soundtrack. And before we whip on Wily again, I put together another edition of the Infamous Intro! This week someone asks my thoughts on the recent StarFox reveal (and I fumble it hard). It had a lot going against it for this review because I JUST finished Resident Evil 9 (which is newer and spectacular), and it's been 7 whole days since our last "slow motion shooter" game review, but to F.E.A.R.'s credit it left a great impression on me because a good game is a good game.If you haven't played this one, you play as the "point man" on this squad of, I dunno, shooter guys? You're investigating this company that's somehow making telepathic monsters and spend most the game sneaking around killing other shooter guys controlled by monsters. It's better than I described.Captain N of the Retrotopia podcast joins me this week and carried my uneducated ass through a good review of a great game. We do spoil, so you've been warned, but I don't think anyone is still reading this anyway. And before we get scared, I put together another edition of the Infamous Intro! This week someone asks if I'll ever stop buying new game consoles? Is there any chance I someday leave podcasting for another "career"? Fortunately the stuff that was awesome is still awesome. Unfortunately the nightmare segments are still shit too, though. If you haven't played Max Payne, you play as this bitter undercover cop who saw his family killed by drug junkies and he's had enough and started going scorched earth on everyone that moves. You basically go from room to room killing people and every now and then it gets interrupted by gritty comic book panels. Add int he ability to slow time Matrix style and you got yourself a classic. The bitterest man I know, my buddy Tyler, is my guest this week and we did the thing where we sit down and talk about games and does anyone even read these???And before we slow things down, I put together another edition of the Infamous Intro! This week someone asks what 5 games I think I've spent the most time playing in my life? How do I feel about WWE 2K26's new battle pass system? And would Video and Arcade Top 10 work as an adult show in 2026??Plus we play another round of 'Play One, Remake One, Erase One', too! It's a really fun NES arcade port that my brother and I would rent ALL the time as kids. You play as a dude in an inner tube, autoscrolling/floating down rivers and avoiding obstacles that want to pop your ride. You can throw cans at enemies and hazards and get you to places like the jungle, the arctic, and Mars. It's awesome. My guest this week is a living legend around RTG, my pal Chris. He was a SEGA kid, I was a Nintendo World Orderer, but we both grew up littering in strange places on virtual inner tubes. And before we go toobin', I put together another edition of the Infamous Intro! This week someone asks if I actually do have friends? And if so, why don't I game with them?? How do I feel about the winner of our Pre-March Madness tourney?? From a polish standpoint, I think it does for sure. But personally? Ehhhh....Prime 2 is objectively a well made game. The polish is there, great story, graphics, soundtrack, exploration. It splits the game's map into 2 distinct worlds, and on paper that's a great idea (as Link To The Past proves). But in execution it seems to be little more divisive. And while some people love this game, I found the maps and dark world equal parts brilliant and frustrating as fuck.My guest this week is our resident Metroid junkie, Stpd Mnky. He's the biggest Samus fan I know, and we went for an hour talking the lights and darks of Samus vs Samus, and discussed whether or not we think this game surpasses its predecessor. And before we morph into balls, I put together another edition of the Infamous Intro! This week someone asks for advice on being a creator when you run into setbacks? Do I ever just game for FUN anymore? And why don't I like Majora's Mask??Plus we play another round of 'Play One, Remake One, Erase One', too! So I finally fired it up for a Valentine's week episode of RTG, and dammit, it's true. Sega did what Nintendidn't.For the record, I really like both games. But the Sega version looked better, sounded better, and killed me better. I found it much harder than its SNES counterpart, and that's a good thing. Great fucking game.Pending RTG Hall of Famer Mark McCue is my guest this week (as he was for the SNES episode all those years ago), and we both agree that while any Aladdin is good Aladdin, this is the premium experience. And before we make a wish, I put together another edition of the Infamous Intro! This week someone asks why games have such short times in the spotlight these days and why the gaming world is so quick to move onto the next big thing? Did I play a lot of Dreamcast back in the day?? And a FAQ: Why do so many listeners call me 'Andy'??Plus we play another round of 'Play One, Remake One, Erase One', too! This game's pretty sick.If you haven't played it, it's a standard sidescrolling shooter/platformer, but with one catch: no jumping. All your platforming is done with a grappling hook. It's a really ambitious concept with a learning curve to be sure, but for the most part I think it works great. Add in a map to explore, a story (kinda) and hitler's exploding head (seriously), and you have yourself a Commando that's Bionic, my friend. My buddy David Rae makes his return to the show this week and we're finally talking the game he's been holding me to play since RTG started. We're getting into the map, the difficulty, the grappling hook adventures, and yes of course, killing Hitler. All par for the course when it comes to the NES.And before we grapple I deliver another edition of the Infamous Intro! This week someone asks if RTG will ever join the video podcast ranks? What forgotten series needs a revival next? And am I planning to check out the Virtual Boy games on the Switch 2??Plus we play another round of 'Play One, Remake One, Erase One', too! I played half of the first game back in the day, checked out and never came back. So I fired the OG up last week and played most of it, and while I can't call myself a super fan or anything, I'm intrigued to see what comes next with the series. The concept itself is rock solid, and there's some really fun mechanics here. Many have told me this is in their top 2 X games alongside the original, and now that I've played it for myself, I get it.The original trilogy of Mega Man X games on the SNES range from perfection to meh (in my books), so I was curious to see how the series would go once it left the 16-bit era. And while X4 definitely shares some DNA with the very subpar Mega Man 8, it brings the heat in practically every way and is anything but subpar. AND it's 2 games in one, because you can play as X AND Zero! The Dr. Light to my Dr. Wily, Dan from Dissect That Film returns to this week to talk more Maverick hunting. We went longer than I expected us to with this one, but when you're talking mega Man there's never enough. With 2 playthroughs to break down, plus rambling about the series as a whole and those legendary cutscenes, we had a ton to get to.And before we X, I put together another edition of the Infamous Intro! This week someone asks for breakup advice in video game context and I try my best. It feels like a hybrid of Super Mario Kart and Mario Kart 64, and for the first ever portable Kart, it's pretty damned solid. Hiding the Super Mario Kart tracks as extra content turned me on a little, too.The Luigi to my (or Mark's) Mark, ye olde Bradley McCue, joins me on the show this week. I've been singing the praises of Bioshock for years, and finally decided it was time to replay and review the sequel.I hadn't played Bioshock 2 since it released, and all I really remembered about it was that you played as a Big Daddy. Taking it for as pain for the first time in almost 15 years was a blast, and while I (ironically) the the Big Daddy mechanic falls a little flat, I still can't get enough of the world of Rapture.Ye olde Tylet is helping me close out the year by talking about killing crazy people with drills and singing the praises of genius Andrew Ryan's world of Rapture. Would you kindly join us?And before we go harvesting, I put together another edition of the Infamous Intro! This week someone asks if the Switch has surpassed the SNES as my favourite console? Am I interested in playing the original Fallout? And other than Mario, which franchise needs to start pumping out sports games??Plus we play another round of 'Play One, Remake One, Erase One', too! This one features 3 great sequels: Half-Life 2, Halo 2, and Mass Effect 2See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Remember The Game? #328 is about the old classic game Donkey Kong '94. It is a fun platform game with simple but tricky levels and puzzles. Donkey Kong (1994) is loved by many players because it is easy to play but still challenging. The podcast talks about old gaming memories and why this game is still popular today. The keyword Sunflower Game is also included in the discussion in a simple way. See More: https://sunflowergame.vip/

interesting. Alan Wake 2 had me raging. I cannot understand how anyone could find this fun or engaging. I loved Alien Isolation though.

Another fantastic episode of this podcast. This South Park game was ridiculously fun but also ridiculously easy to play. In all honesty the easiness never took away from anything in the game.

I just found this podcast, I love it! Hits me right in the feels, I’m a huge gamer so this is perfect for me. It helps me through my 10 hour work days. I’m on episode 64. I hope this never ends. Being a big RPG fan I hope there is an episode on Secret of Mana. That is the game that got me into RPG’s, I try to not look ahead bc I like to see if I can tell the game by the music. 5 stars dude, you are funny as fuck keep it up.
