Tiffany's story is a beautiful example of the miracles that happen when you learn to trust your own instincts and move forward in life with compassion and self love. You can learn more about Tiffany on her website: www.recoverandrise.com and on her blog: www.scrubbedcleanrn.com. Tiffany's choice of recovery program is www.recoverydharma.org. Her journey shows the power of what we can create and accomplish when we stop rebelling against ourselves. Elena also shares how she stayed - and continues to stay - present with her grief after losing her mother.Elena and Taryn talk about one of their shared passions and recovery tools - the use and efficacy of dōTERRA essential oils to support recovery and wellbeing. To order or to join Taryn and Elena's SHE RECOVERS dōTERRA group, go to www.mydoterra.com/sherecovers. In this episode of the SHE RECOVERS podcast, Erin talks with Heidi Harmon. As the current mayor of San Luis Obispo, Heidi is guiding her community into a "politics of belonging," where every citizen is equally heard, seen and valued. Heidi's background as a housecleaner and preschool teacher, as well as her choice to act in her political role from a very feminine energy, has made her a target for those who are uncomfortable with feminine power. Heidi shares how she uses that and other challenges to become even more aligned with her values and purpose. She also discusses how women can help move our culture from one based in "rugged masculine individualism" to a more balanced, compassionate society. https://www.heidiharmon.org/https://www.instagram.com/heidiismighty/?hl=enTo visit the SHE RECOVERS website, click here.SHE RECOVERS Facebook Page, click here.SHE RECOVERS Instagram Page, click here.
Nica Selvaggio was adopted as a young child and came to believe that worthiness was dependant upon being perfect. Nica, who identifies as a non-binary queer human, shares how the unconscious shame, rage and grief of this trauma of objectification led to a decade-long eating disorder. Now a therapist in long-term recovery, Nica has crafted a life centered around profound self kindness with daily, holistic practices that help build acceptance, safety and self love.Nica explains how using dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), a type of cognitive behavioral therapy, can help heal traumatized nervous systems and create the ability to stay present, regulate emotions, cope healthily with stress, and improve relationships. Nica also talks with Taryn about how the death of her birth mother led to a sex addiction and, eventually, to a deeper recovery.https://www.nicaselvaggio.com/https://linktr.ee/nicaselvaggioTo visit the SHE RECOVERS website, click here.SHE RECOVERS Facebook Page, click here.SHE RECOVERS Instagram Page, click here.
In this episode of the SHE RECOVERS podcast, Erin talks with Connie McMillan, author of "Alcohol Fiend to Sobriety Queen" and host of the Sober Sessions podcast.Six years ago, tired of living the party life, depleting her bank account and being "everything to everybody all the time," Connie dropped the facade and began her journey to become 'Sobriety Queen Connie,' the recovery coach, author and mentor she is today.Connie shares how some of her greatest heartbreaks - a failed marriage, her sister's incarceration and the death of her mother - became the catalyst for building the life she was meant to live. She also discusses the loneliness that often comes with early recovery and its importance in the process of "decluttering" your life to make room for new people and new experiences.https://www.conniesmcmillan.com/https://www.instagram.com/sobriety_queen_connie/To visit the SHE RECOVERS website, click here.SHE RECOVERS Facebook Page, click here.SHE RECOVERS Instagram Page, click here.
Rising Resilient in Recovery with Victoria LaMadeleine of Aware Recovery CareHow can you transform your life to go from experiencing childhood trauma and a generational line of addiction, to surviving early sobriety and ultimately rising resilient in recovery? Moral injury occurs when clinicians are repeatedly expected, in the course of providing care, to make choices that transgress their long standing, deeply held commitment to healing.Moral injury is a form of trauma that can occur in any workplace. It is often a result of someone witnessing or participating in a behavior that goes against their beliefs or values. This can cause an employee to feel isolated and be less motivated and engaged at work — and it can have a lasting negative impact on an organization.Moral injury and burnout often go hand-in-hand.In this enlightening conversation between our SHE RECOVERS podcast host, Dr. Tiffany Wynn, and our guest, Dr. Wendy Dean, we learn the definition of moral injury, how and why it manifests, how the systems we live and operate under play into this experience, and how we can recover from it. ABOUT DR. WENDY DEAN:Dr. Dean left clinical medicine when generating revenue crowded out the patient-centered priorities of her practice. Her focus since has been on finding innovative ways to make medicine better for both patients and physicians through technology, ethics, and systems change.Dr. Dean practiced for fifteen years as an emergency room physician and then as a psychiatrist. After leaving clinical practice, she spent eight years in leadership positions, overseeing medical research funding for the U.S. Army, and as a senior executive at a large nonprofit, in Washington D.C., supporting novel strategies to restore form, function, and appearance to ill and injured service members. She turned her full attention to addressing moral injury in 2019.Dr. Dean is a regular contributor to Medscape’s Business of Medicine, blogs on Psychology Today, and continues to work in innovative fields with NASA, the American Society of Reconstructive Transplantation, and the Transplant Ethics and Policy Working Group at New York University Langone Medical Center.Visit her website here: https://wendydeanmd.com/ Listen to her podcast here: https://www.fixmoralinjury.org/  EPISODE RESOURCESSHE RECOVERS Support For Healthcare & Allied Professionals Support Group & Gatherings  The Healing Power of Stories : A Symposium For Recovery ProfessionalsSHE RECOVERS in ChicagoSHE RECOVERS® Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit public charity and a global grassroots movement serving more than 325,000 women and non-binary individuals in or seeking recovery from life challenges including mental health issues, trauma and substance use. I am thoroughly enjoying each and every one of these so far. Thank you for talking about things that are sometimes absent from conversations about recovery. I've shed some healing tears listening to more than one of these.
