A recent survey showed that 66% of Americans suffer from driving anxiety which is fear and anxiety associated with driving. Whether it’s fear of the highway, surface streets, bridges, high speeds, the claustrophobia that come from feeling “trapped” you car, driving anxiety can be debilitating for anyone that needs to drive. We are all born into families. We try to make the effort to get along, to love and to honor our families, yet many of us would not choose our origin family members. However, we still yearn for the closeness, support and safety of a family. How should we approach family? How can we get our wants and needs met? When you are facing a challenge, who are you? Scared? Doubtful? Angry? Or are you confident, self-assured or determined? You get to choose who you are going to be in the face of a challenge. It’s called a Can-Do Attitude. Also known as a Success Mindset. We need challenges to grow.
Our digital devices, such as our cell phones, are amazing and beneficial technologies. But for many of us, the cost of this technology is separation from what makes us human, such as being present to the rejuvenating power of the natural world. As we spend more and more of our time indoors, we lose connection to this aspect of our humanity. Ask yourself “Is it time to put the phone down and get out?” If yes, take a listen to this episode.
There’s nothing wrong with high standards or striving for excellence. However, when people talk about perfectionism, they are usually talking about how it hinders productivity and creates stress and frustration. Psychologist Anne Wilson Schaef said that perfectionism is self-abuse of the highest order. Check out this podcast, it’s not perfect, but might be helpful.
Dylan said “He not busy being born is busy dying.” The work of “becoming” is the work of being born and is the process of transformation. It involves letting go and taking in. It involves what you know and what you don’t know, what you like and what you don’t like. It is the antidote to burnout.

The darkness and cold increase as we approach the shortest day of the year here in the northern hemisphere. Amidst the activity of the holiday season, nature invites us to be still, to be quiet, and to be present to the darkness deep within us and without us. It’s by acknowledging and walking through this darkness that we are better able to connect with the light.
