Description

Someone's probably said to you before "just be yourself" – but how can you be yourself if you don't really know yourself? I'm Jackie Loughlin– and welcome to The Art of Perspective Podcast. On this show, we'll take a deep dive into what it means to "be yourself" through the lens of those who have learned to be confidently at home in who they are. We'll explore teachings, tips and techniques that will help you gain deeper self-awareness and empowerment around who you've been and who you're becoming. As we share ideas, it's important to remember that there is no ultimate truth... since all we can really ever know is our own truth. In this container, all perspectives are welcome, celebrated, and curiously considered.

In this episode, we talk about perfectionism.  I used to cringe even admitting perfectionism  (I  was more comfortable with calling myself someone with type A tendencies) and  as I’ve been on a journey of learning to love and accept all parts of me, I really started to get to know this part of me that is a perfectionist.  We talk through: blending with this part and what that sounds likethe unhealthy dialogue from being blended with this partunblending from this part and what that sounds likegiving ourselves permission from a perspective that feels healthy
From a very young age we've been told that the best strategy to be like-able and accepted is to "just be yourself" At the same time,  we were surrounded with messages, feelings of pain, shame, judgment and really peer pressure that made us feel like we had to alter who we were to "just fit in." So this idea of just being ourselves somehow got lost along the way. Website: https://jackieloughlin.com/Social: https://www.instagram.com/jackie.loughlin/
