In today's reading it said Jehoiada lived to be 130 years old. Way back in Genesis 6:3 it said, "Then the Lord said, “My Spirit will not put up with humans for such a long time, for they are only mortal flesh. In the future, their normal lifespan will be no more than 120 years." Can somebody explain?
There's plenty of places in the NT that says that you should "abstain from" something and similar verbiage that indicates an active role (and not a passive verb). Which means you are the principal involved. Most of these admonitions involve sanctification, which means that you do not play a passive role in sanctification, with God totally in the driver's seat. Furthermore, if it were up to God alone, and should you not be found working out your salvation with fear and trembling, you couldn't be judged for anything. You doctrine allows room for license.
