There is a lot of discussion right now surrounding vaccines and their safety and effectiveness. My husband and I questioned and did our research over 30 years ago. These chapters teach that to do something that feels wrong to you or cannot be established as objectively wrong, is wrong for the person who believes it to be so. The combination of societal pressure, politicization, fetal cell lines used in vaccine development, unusual timelines and truncated testing, and legal protections offered to vaccine manufacturers insulating them from lawsuits in the event of injury all come together to make the receipt of this vaccine unconscionable for me. That being the case, to get the vaccine would itself be a violation of the Christian teaching about protecting one's conscience." Have you ever wondered if you are creating a healthy family culture in your home? Today are trying something a little bit new. I’ve invited Wes Johnson who has recorded many episodes with me,  to record 2 episodes per month that invite husbands to listen in with their wives. He will be covering relevant, relatable content that will give you the tools you need as a couple in family life, marriage, etc.  Some episodes will be more directed toward the men.  I hope you’ll encourage your husbands and even your sons to listen in and grow as men of God and leaders or future leaders of their homes. Do you crave people’s love and approval? Do you dread their rejection or mistreatment? Although we don’t always realize it, many of our lives—and identities—are dangerously contorted around such longings and fears. Today we are going to find healthy, biblical ways to overcome these fears. Here are some questions we will tackle in this episode: Why is the fear of man such an easy trap to fall into and why can it wreak so much havoc in our lives? How can we tell the difference between being considerate and thoughtful versus living from a place where we fear man?  What are some of the warnings in scripture about fearing man and why do you think it’s so important to heed them? How do we know when we are living in the fear of man? Can you define co-dependency and why can it be so tempting? How can we tell if we are co-dependent? What biblical remedy do we have as believers that can help us live in freedom from fear of man? The previous podcast with Ed Welch mentioned: What Does the Bible Have to Say About Psychiatric Disorders? Scriptures shared: Prov. 29:25, Psalm 118:8, Isaiah 51:7, Jer. 17:5-8 (2 ways to live), Resources mentioned in this episode: When People Are Big and God Is Small Link to podcast episode search bar Raising Boys to Men Book Raising Boys to Men Audiobook The Unhurried Homeschooler The Unhurried Homeschooler Audiobook Unhurried Grace for a Mom’s Heart The Four-Hour School Day CTC Math Voetberg Music Academy (Use discount code WILSON20for 20%) Children's Chewable Probiotic (Use DURENDA10 at checkout for 10% off your first order) Subscribe to my monthly email and receive access to Unhurried Grace for a Mom's Heart: 31 Days in God's Word

Today I want to address the issue of busyness. I think among homeschool moms, it’s especially prevalent because we want to make sure that we aren’t failing our kids, so we often turn to activities to hopefully “fill in the gaps”.  As a culture we idolize busyness. It can make us feel important, like we have something valuable to offer. Everyone wants and needs to feel like they matter, like they have something to bring to the table. But is this a wise way to find that? There is nothing wrong with having a full life, but it's good to check in and make sure that we are keeping a healthy perspective. We always want to see our kids reach an appropriately healthy amount of independence as they move into adulthood, but for those of us with special needs kids, this process can be more challenging and time-consuming than we may have anticipated. We are called to be the salt of the earth. The primary value of salt is not as a flavoring but as a preservative. As Jesus' disciples, we are to hinder the world’s corruption. Today Heidi St. John joins me for a conversation about the future of our nation and how we can be salt and light right here and right now. Here are some questions we discuss:   What are the top challenges we face as believers in our culture today? How do you think we got to this place? What do you think scares Christians about politics and becoming overly involved? As homeschooling moms, how can we change the trajectory of our country? How do we talk to our kids about politics without scaring them or making them (or us) anxious? I've invited Wes back on the podcast to help us nail down a clearer theology of technology by answering these questions:   How should Christians think about, relate to, and use technology? With the effects of a sinful culture bearing down, conversations we could put off before now need to happen at earlier ages. The question is how do we combat the culture’s lies without taking away the innocence of our children? Today Elizabeth Urbanowicz from Foundation Worldview is here to give us some ideas of what that might look like to teach our little ones about God's good design for them! We will cover questions like: Most Christian resources about gender and sexuality focus on teens. However, you recommend parents start talking about these issues with children as young as the age of four. Can you explain why you recommend starting at such a young age and how you would advise parents to approach such conversations? Many parents will try to shelter their kids from these issues. Is that the best approach? Why or why not? How does your curriculum help parents and caregivers tackle this topic with their children? Walk us through a lesson. What is the format? And how will children be learning? Homeschooling parents face challenges that are unique to the homeschooling journey.  One of those challenges is not letting homeschooling and the kids become more important than nurturing our marriages. You sure caught my attention when you said your son was recently diagnosed with autism! my 13 year old daughter was diagnosed last week with autism and I've been searching high and low for whatever I can find to learn and see how to help her. I hope you'll share more about your journey and what you've been learning. I realize that every case is so different, but my daughter has become very aggressive, which has been hard on the whole family (we homeschool and have 5 kids). Would love any of your wisdom in this area!! sarah :)

Hi, you mentioned the libertarian homeschooling site but I couldn't find it in a search. Could you give me the exact address? Thanks so much, the couple episodes of yours I just listened to were very encouraging and brought me peace about getting started with my whole new homeschooling adventure!

Right after I started playing this episode, I received some surprising and overwhelming news, and to have this playing at the same exact time was like God was right there in the room with me, speaking directly to me, through you. 💜
