Join us this week on the Exodus Cry podcast as we sit down with Meghan Murphy to discuss how she diverged from the feminist “pro-sex work” narrative and now tackles the problems third-wave feminism is creating for women. Meghan Murphy is a freelance writer and journalist, and is the founder and editor of Feminist Current. She is known for going against the grain and was the first to publish a critique of Slutwalk, back in 2011, and was one of the only popular feminist bloggers to publicly articulate a radical feminist position against the sex industry. Since speaking out she has garnered lots of attention on social media, making both friends and lots of enemies. LINKS: Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/7h6K1rU... This week on the Exodus Cry Podcast, Marcel Van der Watt dismantles the common arguments used to defend “sex work” as a safe and legitimate form of work. As a former criminal investigator with more than 20 years of experience in combating the intersecting criminal economies of organized crime, human trafficking, and sexual exploitation, Marcel speaks to the faulty arguments and “research” frequently held up by the pro-sex work movement. Macrel is the Director of the Research Institute at the National Center on Sexual Exploitation (NCOSE) in Washington, D.C. Marcel has consulted in and provided expert court testimony in several sex trafficking cases, briefed members of the US Congress on issues related to online criminality, and has trained multidisciplinary professionals from more than 30 countries. This week on the Exodus Cry Podcast, we are joined by Defend Young Minds founder Kristen Jenson to discuss protecting children from porn in the digital age. Kristen is the acclaimed author of Good Pictures Bad Pictures, a digital safety expert, and the CEO of Glen Cove Press. In 2011, Kristen found out her friend’s oldest son had sexually abused their younger children using pornography. Distraught, Kristen felt compelled to search online for resources to warn her friend’s younger children about the dangers of viewing pornography but could not find anything. She set out to create resources for parents to address pornography exposure and consumption. As she began researching and talking to parents, she realized the need was even greater. Kristen began blogging about all she was learning, and it was out of this that Defend Young Minds was born. This week on the Exodus Cry Podcast we are joined by our sister in the Anti-Trafficking movement, Harmony Dust. Survivor of pimp-controlled exploitation turned UCLA honor student, Harmony founded Treasures in 2003 to empower women in the sex industry and survivors of trafficking to live healthy, flourishing lives. She has provided training for the Department of Justice and the FBI, and has helped launch outreaches in 120 cities worldwide. Her story has been featured on NPR, in Glamour and in her memoir, Scars and Stilettos: https://www.iamatreasure.com/shop In this episode, Benjamin and Harmony discuss how the “rescuer” model of outreach to exploited women is rooted in unhealthy co-dependency and how the use of survivor stories can often leave them feeling bound to their trauma and past. Welcome to the first Exodus Cry Podcast episode of 2024! This week we sit down with Arden Young from Sound Investigations to discuss how the Traffickinghub campaign inspired her to become an investigative journalist aiming to expose the criminal activity within MindGeek/Aylo, Pornhub’s parent company. As a child actor in Hollywood, Arden was exposed to the predatory nature of the industry and witnessed inappropriate behavior involving children. Growing up, her father was a private investigator and lawyer, often including her in investigations to show her the ropes. Arden left Hollywood and her acting career in her early twenties, after which she learned of the Traffickinghub campaign. With investigative journalism in her blood, she sought to further the campaign’s efforts with a goal of getting employees to admit to continuing illegal activity. With their own personal funds, the two-person team at Sound Investigations set their sights on MindGeek in Montreal and spent five months in the field interviewing subjects and gathering information. They released their first video in September 2023. Since then, they have released six more videos with incriminating evidence against Pornhub/Mindgeek/Aylo. In this week’s episode of the Exodus Cry Podcast, we sit down with the founder and CEO of the Epik Project, Tom Perez. Epik Project actively disrupts sex buying, intervening at the point of sale to shed light on the reality of that transaction. Benjamin and Tom discuss the demand side of trafficking, touching on his experiences working with sex buyers and analyzing the culture that has groomed men to feel sexually entitled to another’s body. In 2010, Tom began engaging in the anti-trafficking fight and quickly noticed that while men are the primary drivers behind the demand that fuels sex trafficking, very few were practically involved in effective efforts to abolish it. His vision to create meaningful onramps for men to join this fight has resulted in the training, equipping and support of hundreds of volunteer men across 20 cities in North America. On this episode of the Exodus Cry Podcast, Benjamin Nolot sits down with Jessica Kay to discuss the intricacies of trafficking and the ways in which the illusion of choice influences a victim’s perspective on their state of abuse. Jessica is a survivor of domestic violence, homelessness and trafficking. She was trafficked by her “boyfriend” after six months of manipulation and love bombing. While in “the life,” Jessica fully believed prostitution was her choice. It wasn’t until she escaped that she recognized the coercion, abuse and manipulation. Now, Jessica is a Clinical Social Work Intern for A Better Tomorrow and is a Survivor Consultant for UNITAS. She is a member of the Nevada Coalition to Prevent the Exploitation of Children and is a member of the Steering Committee for the Nevada Policy Council on Human Trafficking. Jessica was also named as one of Las Vegas’ 40 under 40. LINKS: Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/7h6K1rU... Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast... This week on the Exodus Cry Podcast, we are joined by Caroline Pugh-Roberts, a survivor of trafficking who was swept into that world when a pimp recruited her through the lover boy method. After several instances of rape, losing her husband, mom and best friend, and undiagnosed depression, Caroline was a perfect target. Her “boyfriend” lavished her with gifts for six months, then turned the tables and forced her to sell her body to be able to “provide.” It began in strip clubs and quickly escalated to motels. After eight years of being trafficked by her pimp, she tried to escape. But it would take years before she was finally free. Now, Caroline bravely shares her story and works full-time with victims of sexual exploitation. She has received the Queens Diamond Jubilee Medal for her work in this area, as well as the Hope award and John Robinson awards. LINKS: Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/7h6K1rU... On this episode of the Exodus Cry Podcast, we sit down with Victoria Galy, a survivor of and advocate against image-based sexual abuse. In 2020, Victoria discovered hundreds of nonconsensual videos of herself posted to porn sites by three different men, some of which were recorded after she had been secretly drugged. Just one year later Victoria boldly testified at the Canadian Parliament Ethics Hearing against Pornhub/MindGeek. Since then, she has fiercely advocated for justice and federal legislative changes to protect other victims. This includes speaking at a symposium in Washington, D.C., sharing her story on various podcasts, meeting with many U.S. Senators, briefing the White House Task Force to Address Online Harms and Harassments and participating in the development of a landscape report presented to the White House on how to tackle the issue of image-based sexual abuse. This week on the Exodus Cry Podcast, we talk with Alan Smyth, the executive director at Saving Innocence, an anti-trafficking nonprofit in Los Angeles, California that aims to serve, empower and advocate for child victims of sex trafficking. After a child sex trafficking survivor shared, “I could no longer fight for myself, I needed someone to fight for me,” Alan was moved into action. He quickly answered that call. Since then, Alan co-authored a book called “Men! Fight for Me” that teaches how men can end trafficking and sexual exploitation. He and Benjamin discuss healthy vs. toxic masculinity, male roles in exploitation, our culture’s uplifting of the pimp mentality and the current scale of child sex trafficking within the United States. This week on the Exodus Cry Podcast, Dr. Caroline Heldman and Benjamin Nolot ask the question, “How did we get here?” They examine the current sexual culture and how porn has vastly impacted our sexual perceptions. They break down the issues of sexual self-objectification, empowerment, and the current impacts the two have on sexual satisfaction and self-image. Benji and Dr. Heldman also touch on why toxic influencers like Andrew Tate have been given such a platform and resonate with young men in our culture. Dr. Caroline Heldman is the the Executive Director of The Representation Project and Chair of the Critical Theory and Social Justice department at Occidental College in Los Angeles. Dr. Heldman was also featured in our documentary, Liberated: The New Sexual Revolution. LINKS: Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/7h6K1rU... On this episode of the Exodus Cry Podcast, Benjamin sits down with Katarina MacLeod to discuss how she entered prostitution, the abuse that led her on that path, the horrific incidents she experienced while in it, and her journey to healing afterwards. Katarina is the Founder & Executive Director of Rising Angels Awareness & Restorative Care in Canada. She is also a survivor of sexual & physical abuse, drug addiction, forcible confinement, and 15 years of commercial sexual exploitation in prostitution. After seven years, she left prostitution in 2013. Andrea is now an accomplished writer, advocate, and filmmaker working to raise awareness about commercial sexual exploitation. On this episode, Andrea bravely shares what led her to enter prostitution, how she got out, and how she’s finding healing from that life. This week on the Exodus Cry Podcast, we sit down with Katelynn, a brave survivor of image-based sexual abuse who shares her story in hopes of changing laws and helping others who have had their trauma immortalized on porn sites. In 2008, Katelynn agreed to make a video with her boyfriend for him before he moved. Two years later, that video was posted repeatedly to sites like Pornhub. For 13 years, Katelynn has been pursuing justice for herself and other survivors like her. In this episode, she and Benjamin discuss the aftermath of exploitation, dealing with trauma and mental health, and what can be done to make real change for survivors. This week on the Exodus Cry podcast, Benjamin Nolot sits down with Brittni De La Mora, a former teen porn performer who now runs a nonprofit called Love Always Ministries, which helps people get free from porn, both as consumers and performers. Brittni discusses how her own abuse and neglect as a child played a huge role in her decision to enter porn at 18 years old. After a few years, she found herself addicted to drugs and involved with a pimp. Brittni desperately wanted to escape but was unable to see a way out after a life in the industry. Despite all of this, she explains how she was able to walk away after finding a relationship with Jesus. Brittni was frequently cast into barely legal roles as a teen in the industry. She and Benjamin discuss how these genres negatively affect children on a day-to-day basis as so many young kids and teens are turning to porn for sex education. This week on the Exodus Cry Podcast, Exodus Cry CEO Benjamin Nolot sits down with Heidi Olson, a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner with years of experience treating child victims of sexual assault. She shares heartbreaking stories of young patients who have been brutally assaulted, most often by other kids. Heidi discusses the increase in child-on-child sexual assault not only in her hospital but across the United States. Her explanation? Underage exposure to porn is a major contributing factor since children are being fed violent sexual content as their sex education. I appreciate your ministry and heart and absolutely agree that you are battling evil and fighting for innocents. Please try to reduce the use of the word "like". IMO it undermines your credibility.

the guy on this needs to back the fuck down. 70% of this podcast was him preaching and interrupting the guest (who's input is what the episode is meant to be about) launching into self-aggrandizing monologues about HIS ideas and HIS opinions on any and every piece of information communicated like he's the arbiter of discourse. And the soundtrack of theatrical 'mmm's and sighing that accompanied the the guest's contributions. I've noticed this in a few of the exodus cry podcast episodes and it's such a shame because the content is fantastic but the bullshitting and total domination of the conversation by this guy and his soap box. why is he trying to upstage and outrank the other contributors, appraising their input and showing them blatant disrespect. its perverse to hear him lecture a world expert on what he thinks she's trying to say. he's using this movement, appropriating the collective pain of survivors experience as a stage on which to play out his ego-disguised-as-empathy schtic
