In this episode, Iain Macintosh sits down with Sports Interactive’s CJ Ramson and Nicholas Madden to talk in detail about the biggest changes in FM22. From an unprecedented overhaul of the animation engine (the thing that powers all of your golazzos) to making set pieces more realistic and less easy to manipulate (sorry Iain) the guys give their best bits of advice for navigating the new changes in the game.
In this episode, Iain Macintosh shares some sneak peaks at FM 22 (the alpha version at least) with FM streamer Kevin Chapman aka Lollujo. Your letters look at getting back into FM if you’ve been away a few years and the “joys” of playing with friends online, which for some (Iain) means using the Russian military art of deception known as Maskirovka... And in this week’s What Else Do You Play, JJ Bull takes us through Call Of Duty: Warzone.
In this episode, Iain Macintosh talks about Building Back Barcelona with FM streamer Kevin Chapman aka Lollujo.  There’s a Position Of The Week as CJ Ramson tells you to “get rid!”... It’s the No-Nonsense Centre Back. Your letters look at building Belgian B Teams and European tours inspired by cherished FM saves. And in this week’s What Else Do You Play, Joe Devine off the TIFO tells us all about Rocket League.
In this episode, Iain Macintosh chats all things FM streaming and YouTubing with Zealand. There’s a Position Of The Week as CJ Ramson tells you to push out wide apart from the times you also come inside… it’s the madness of the Inverted Wingback Your letters resemble more of an agony aunt column as we come to terms with saying goodbye to FM21 amongst other things...  And in this week’s What Else Do You Play, Seb Stafford-Bloor gives us his pitch for why you should also play... Red Dead Redemption 2.
In this episode, Iain Macintosh and Seb Stafford-Bloor off the TIFO delve into the tantalising trailer for Football Manager 22.  There’s a Position Of The Week as CJ Ramson tells you to “push up because he’ll sit”… it’s Centre Midfield Defend Your letters ask if FM has an adjustable difficulty setting, except just always being hard, and how to prevent coming back to the game after a few years break and not be completely overwhelmed… Finally, in this week’s What Else Do You Play, Alex Stewart gives us his pitch for why you should also play... Civilisation VI.
In this episode, Alex Stewart off the TIFO runs the rule over using the Moneyball philosophy in Football Manager. There’s a Position Of The Week as CJ Ramson pulls the strings in the middle of the park with the Deep Lying Playmaker. Your letters touch on Player Preferred and Moves and, unexpectedly, The Good Friday Agreement... Plus we’ve got a new feature where we talk about games we like to play when we need to consciously uncouple from FM for a bit. First up it’s Iain and Crusader Kings III.
31. FM Love

31. FM Love

2021-09-1537:24

In this episode, writer Joel Golby talks to Iain about why he loves this game so very, very much despite it so often not loving him back.  There’s a Position Of The Week as CJ Ramson runs the channels, drops deep to join in the build up play and puts the ball in the net with The Complete Forward. And on the theme of love, your letters talk about Motherwell’s Jason Cummings (in FM where he’s actually played there and not IRL of course) and you present us with more bold challenges you want to take on in FM 22.
In this episode, we’re looking at data: xG, player ratings and reasons why it’s not your fault you just lost 3-0 to a side that had three shots on target when you had twenty... Elliot Stapley from Sports Interactive is on duty to debunk the digits.  There’s more Position Of The Week as CJ Ramson takes us off the touchline and inside to the world of the Inverted Winger. And your letters look at mobile mode, what you promise yourself you’ll do differently on FM22 and much more.
In this episode, do you want to change the very fabric of the game, the basic parameters of FM existence? Well look no further! Freddie Sands from Sports Interactive tells us all about editing the Football Manager database...  Position Of The Week is back as CJ Ramson explores the madness of using a Mezzala in midfield... We’re winding down the Sunderland Challenge and finding out how you’ve all done. A lot better than Iain by the sounds of it... Plus the Bundesliga Challenge comes to an end. Auf Wiedersehen, mein Freund...
This week Andrew James from Sports Interactive tells us how to manage our workload, the physical workload of our players that is not how much you’ve got on at work... The Athletic's Art De Roché tells us about the joy that can be found in embracing the chaos of an asymmetric formation as well as the benefits of managing in Ligue 1. To get the inside scoop on our new Community Challenge managing Sunderland AFC is Connor Bromley from Sunderland pod The Roker Report.  Your letters also have a very heavy Sunderland theme... Plus the Bundesliga Challenge continues and Alex Stewart from the TIFO Football Podcast returns to talk us through a tough month for him and his Stuttgart side.

The Athletic’s Dermot Corrigan gives us the inside track on Barcelona for the latest edition of New Vacancy. Plus some skullduggery is afoot in the letters as well as discussing those dreaded team meetings. And finally after the show you’ll hear a snippet from The Athletic’s brand new documentary series ‘Away from Home’ where they’ve been granted access all areas to Shakhtar Donetsk during their Champions League campaign. I think of all the things I've ever done, including enjoying excel, dungeons and dragons and accounts, listening to people talk about pretend football managers is probably the nerdiest. And I love it.
