A man from one of New York City’s crime families who has deep ties to the Italian mafia. He was there the day of the Pope’s death and witnessed his murder firsthand. Why always assumptions that teens "need fixed". More than likely they have dealt with immense trauma within their family setting. When are parents held accountable?

as someone who went to a later/east-coast iteration of CEDU and endured all of these experiences, this was really powerful and i hope this podcast and story spreads because the “industry” is so in the shadows and somehow no one knows the truth about it. it should be an issue that is brought to light and fought all the way to washington. great pod and THANK YOU! 👍🏼👍🏼

Now the icing on the cake - 'smooshing' with other residents and, omg, staff😬 Don't ask me about Rudy - what a POS!😠 Thanks Aaliyah for your bravery in telling your story.

A lot of the 'behaviour' of these kids is, in part, caused by useless parenting. Then they ship them off to a cult??!! Unbelievable!

This is cult behaviour and Randolph was, and still is, part of it. Scarily, he cannot grasp the immensity of what he is admitting.

As soon as everyone knows your 'secrets' you are easy to manipulate. The armed forces use the same tactics to 'break' a recruit. Those rap sessions were terrifying to listen to, god knows how those kids felt there. Psychological torture - plain and simple.

This is heartbreaking - how can we treat our young people this way? I can empathise - I hated school and didn't fit in. Years later, I realised I had depression due to growing up in a dysfunctional, abusive home. These parents thought they were actually helping, which is all the more devastating. Great podcast but so sad.
