Welcome to today's episode of The Mindset Mentor Podcast where today I'm going to be sharing 3 steps that anyone can follow to quickly and easily start having better communication with everyone in your life. Communication is one of the most important skills that you as a human being can have, for deepening your connection with other people. I believe that open, honest, and sincere communication IS the #1 key to maintaining any relationship in your life. The problem is... We aren't really taught growing up the HOW to communicate.So then we spend so much time, and heartache in our adult lives suffering through the discovery process of how to communicate better with those around us. That's why today I'm giving you the 3 steps to becoming a better communicator coming from a place of LUV. (Yes, I spelt that right. Let me show you what I mean...)1. L- Listen. Listen with no intention of responding with your opinion, or your input in any sort of way. Empathetic presence is the act of being fully present with another person in more than just a physical way. This means setting aside your own thoughts, judgements, etc... and being entirely "with" the person you're talking to. This creates a place of safe space for other people so that they feel like they can communicate with you, and give you a chance to listen at all.2. U- Understand. In the same way that you can convey that you're listening through non verbal cues, you can also do the same thing when it comes to understanding. Reflect and Repeat. You can use verbal cues like, "Okay... If I understand you correctly, you're saying...is that right?" BOOM. This is just one example of how to communicate that you're trying to understand.3. V- Validate. More than anything else right now, everyone we are communicating with would like to feel VALID when they're communicating with us. Perception is reality for everyone right now. Meaning that we are all looking at the world through the lens of our own unique abilities to perceive it. Here's what's KEY here: Validating someone doesn't have to mean you agree with them, but it does mean acknowledging that someone's opinion is valid. You don't have to argue, you don't have to fix, etc... Sometimes all a person needs is validation. Here's a BONUS question that can help you out in your relationships. Ask this question when someone's expressing something to you... "Do you want my help with this, or do you just want a hug?" Every single person on this planet is doing the best with what they have. We all just want to be understood. And the way for you to improve your relationships with everyone you interact with... seek to understand. Welcome to today’s episode of The Mindset Mentor Podcast, where today I’m going to be talking to you about why you may be feeling “lazy” lately… and don’t worry! This is not an episode where I’m talking about fitness, nutrition, etc… I’m not here to beat you up like that. I’m going to explain to you why you may not have the ENERGY to do the things you want to do or need to do, and offer you some tips and strategies that you can follow to get out of a rut. Honestly, just to keep things simple… What I believe causes most people to feel a lack of energy, enthusiasm, or desire… is when you are living a life that is out of alignment with who you are, and who you want to be. When you’re out of alignment with your purpose, that also means you’re out of alignment with the universe. (Scary thought, huh?) I believe that the universe, or whatever god you believe in… comes thru us and communicates with us thru the way of energy. Every single thing in the universe is made of energy. If you are feeling exhausted everyday, and completely drained of your energy… here me loud and clear: You are not doing what you are meant to do. However… there is a difference between a good and a bad type of exhaustion. A good exhaustion is when you’re doing something you love, that took your energy all day and you are tired… but your heart is full. Things are crazy in the world right now, huh? Seems like they get crazier and crazier, but here’s the deal… We can’t change the way things around us are. Welcome to today’s episode of The Mindset Mentor Podcast, where I’m going to give you 8 techniques to relieve daily stress that you may be feeling. You don’t have to use all 8 every day, but you can pick and choose each one to try on for size! The level of your stress and anxiety right now, will be a direct reflection of how much you are resisting the way that the world is. The people around us are the way that they are, and we can’t control that. Don’t resist. Let’s practice these great techniques to remove stress: Practice your breathing. 6 deep breaths, in through the nose… out thru your mouth. A long exhale will slow your heart rate down. Focus on gratitude. What you focus on grows. We need to change our perspectives. Thinking about everything you don’t have, and all the people that you wish were different… think about this… Those thoughts alone can be extremely stressful. When you desire something, you create a space between who you are now and who you think you’d be if you had that “thing”... and that takes you out of your current state, telling your brain that you aren’t going to be happy until you have that thing. Go for a walk! Forward physical motion seen through the eyes, will actually lower your cortisol levels. Cortisol is a stress hormones, so if possible I highly recommend that you go for a walk in nature. Science says that these walks in nature will lower your cortisol AND your stress levels. Time to write!! I’m not gonna call this journaling… (I don’t want to stress you out any more…) Scientific studies have shown that the act of writing things down, can help to get rid of some of the mess that’s in your head… OUT. This will help relieve you and give you more peace of mind. Get your blood levels checked- I know this one sounds weird but it’s just science my friends. I personally was feeling off a while back, got my blood checked, found out I was Vitamin B & D deficient. So, I made sure to get those vitamins in my system, and BOOM. Almost instantly my mood and stress levels corrected. Try to stop drinking so much caffeine… especially if your stress levels are out of whack. Side note: Sometimes caffeine is a bit of a crutch to help you get the energy you need throughout the day, that you wouldn’t actually be needing if you did #5 on this list, which is getting your blood checked to make sure your body is running optimally. Force yourself to watch 10 minutes of comedy. Laughter will release dopamine, and dopamine release will decrease your cortisol levels. When cortisol levels decrease, you are going to feel more relaxed, and less anxious. Laughter stimulates the release of your body’s natural feel good chemicals as well which temporarily relieves pain the body, and helps your muscles relax. Be cautious of the music you’re listening to. There is a time and place for everyone to get to listen to Slipknot. But when you’re desperately trying to relieve your stress levels, then you need to be a little more picky and careful with what you listen to. My personal stress reducing song: Weightless, by Marconi Union (Please go look it up, it’s life changing.) As I mentioned before, no one is suggesting that you try and do all of these 8 things everyday, but what I am suggesting is you try them each out to see which help you the most. You’ll see the wake behind you. The wake is just what shows you where you’ve been… BUT the wake of the boat does not steer the boat at all. It simply shows you where you’ve been.” A lot of people live in the past, and they do it so that they can try and make a prediction of what the future will look like. If this sounds interesting to you, then I’m going to assume that you are probably one of the people who have found themselves doing exactly this. Why are you thinking that way? Here’s what I believe… If you’re living in your past, so that you can predict your future… then you’re probably somebody who simply doesn’t want their future to end up looking like their past. But if you don’t make a change, and make one immediately… then your tomorrows are going to surely look like your yesterdays and even your todays. Affirmations are simple, but the effects are profound. Welcome to today’s episode The Mindset Mentor Podcast where today we’re going to talk about how to create affirmations. And I know… If you’re like me and you have an analytical mind, then the act of positive affirmations can sound so corny but the reality is… There is science-based evidence that can explain how these actually work. And that’s what I’m going to explain to you today!Before I teach you the HOW, I think you need to understand the WHY first. Your brain is a sponge and soaks up beliefs, and over your lifetime, those beliefs fill your mind and become a major part of your identity. What’s cool about this?... You can actually change those identifying beliefs if you’re willing to incorporate new affirmations into your life. There have been actual brain imaging studies that prove that when an individual visualizes themselves achieving a particular goal, along with positively affirming that to be the reality… Your brain lights up as you’re thinking, and saying those things as if you are actually experiencing that thing. The more you do this, the better. The way you actually can create change in your life, is to bring what you want to your mind more and more until you start to actually believe it. People who actually self affirm calmness and peace in themselves, their brains will actually produce lower cortisol levels. So what does all this mean? We’re trying to go from the present, into the future and part of that is doing the work to discover who you are, and how you can improve. Welcome to today’s episode of The Mindset Mentor Podcast where today we are diving deep into the transformative power of self-awareness and how it can actually be the ultimate superpower.In a world filled with distractions, I believe that the most valuable gift we can give ourselves is the power of self-awareness. There’s a clear distinction between self-awareness and self-consciousness, which I’m going to explain in this episode. Self awareness is such a superpower because it is like having a clear internal mirror that allows you to manage your emotions effectively.Self-awareness is crucial to your personal development because it enables you to understand your emotions before they arise, giving you the tools to manage them. Today I’m going to give you practical steps to help you develop your self-awareness:Do More Reflective Practices: You can start with journaling as a way to explore both your conscious and unconscious thoughts. Our minds are complex, and journaling is an excellent tool to unravel them.Practice Meditation: I know meditating is difficult for so many people, but instead of looking at meditation as a state you’re trying to get to of “no thoughts”, instead realize that meditation is actually about sitting still in one place so that you can properly observe your thoughts, process them, and work through why they exist and what should be done about them. You will learn more about yourself by observing your thoughts without resistance. Meditation helps you confront your mind and understand what's really going on beneath the surface.Become Thought Aware: Pay close attention to your thoughts.
