Description
The Opportunist tells true stories of regular people who turn sinister by embracing opportunity. How does an everyday person turn into a thief, a scammer or a cult leader? Perhaps the most dangerous person is the one who appears the most normal. Perhaps there is a dark potential lurking inside all of us that is just waiting for the right opportunity to emerge. The Opportunist is a Kast Original podcast hosted by Hannah Smith.

In 2018, Katrina Gay turned to National Autopsy Services to get answers about her mother’s death. The man performing the autopsy, Shawn Parcells, claimed to be a forensic expert. But an investigation into his past would call into question Shawn Parcells' credentials. Was he really qualified to be performing autopsies? And what would that mean for the hundreds of grieving families who had used his services?

I love this podcast.
Are you kidding?? 😂 😂
I absolutely love this true crime podcast on borderline con artists! The host provides in-depth research and interviews that leave me constantly on the edge of my seat. I highly recommend this podcast for anyone interested in learning about the opportunists and the people behind them. Keep up the great work!
Willed $10million in 1980 and "she struggled financially "? Boo Hoo. Get real.
commercials are 🤢
Great and interesting series, but scarey too.
Wow these people are something else.
Fantastic narration and incredible material!
Thank you for your piece on Sheryl Ruthven. You freed me from years of torment. I was ex-communicated during the Maureen event. We were in trouble for discussing Sheryl implants and life before becoming a pastor. Pete was acting as a spy. She openly shamed us in front of everyone that night at the church and the following Sunday. I was maybe 13 at the time, it was devastating. I've been afraid to speak ill about that lady for years. I AM SET FREE TODAY! That demonic lady has no power of me, my life, or my future. God is LOVE not fear tactics.
a fine podcast. well researched and well written. thank you.

Needs 200 to buy food. Drives a bright blue Audi goes to casino for fun. Some questionable money decisions here
That poor guy ugggggh... I ended up googling this story and reading more about it. ☹️
I love that ending song... I looked them up too! 👏
Another great series. #theopportunist
It's a insane if they think cats are going to save them. Cats don't give a fuck about us I know because I have one. I love her but I don't expect her to lift me up into heaven one day.
Her voice alone sounds mentally unstable.
Cats were the breaking point, not the growling and screeching in the microphone while she stated she was speaking in tongue (to God of course)
I don't know why I bothered with this episode. I did learn one thing from this, the And That's Why We Drink podcast is to be avoided. I can't listen to a circle of gossipy ladies.
As a vet, Fallon will have unlimited access to run her scam on unknowing horse owners in the future. I doubt she'll see the error of her ways.
