Description

Join us every Tuesday and Thursday as we break down the wildest developments in the messy world of sports — because it’s much more fun to watch athletes on the field if you know what they’re doing off of it.

Whether you’re a die-hard fan who has the standings of multiple leagues memorized, or someone who really does think that Taylor Swift put Travis Kelce on the map, join us Madeline Hill and Charlotte Wilder, as we watch sports with one eye on the game and one eye on the personal life section of athletes’ Wikipedia pages.

Madeline and Charlotte are back with another episode — the only one for this week because they are taking a tiny break! First, a few March Madness updates: UCLA won the women’s tournament and the Michigan men beat UConn with five transfers. Geno Auriemma went after Dawn Staley and the apology he issued was…not great! The Masters starts on Thursday and golfer Jason Day is making waves with his Malbon outfit, which involves birds and fish (complimentary). Plus: Rory McIlroy, Scottie Scheffler’s nine-day-old son, and more. Tiger Woods is going to rehab in Switzerland? Bills quarterback Josh Allen and his wife, actress Hailee Steinfeld, had their baby and went to Seahawks Quarterback Sam Darnold’s wedding. Gracie Hunt (daughter of Kansas City Chiefs owner Clark Hunt) had a compressed flower engagement that exposed a new problem in the athlete wedding industrial complex: votives. Track star Noah Lyles got married to Junelle Bromfield, a Jamaican track and field athlete, at the same place NBA star Kemba Walker got married. Angel Reese is being traded from the Chicago Sky to the Atlanta Dream, which is great for Atlanta and stupid for Chicago. Italy didn’t make their third-straight World Cup, Cleveland Browns head coach Todd Monken missed the NFL coach’s photo because he was getting his haircut for the photo, and Lakers star Luka Doncic is going to Spain to deal with an injury. Madeline and Charlotte are thrilled to welcome Morgan Riddle to the show! The tennis influencer, content creator, co-founder of The 400 Club, and girlfriend of tennis star Taylor Fritz joins the gals for a wide-ranging conversation about where she came from, how she conquered the tennis world, and where she’s going next. They chat about how Morgan grew up going to hockey games in Minnesota, wore heels to high school, went to Wagner College, and then moved to LA, where she met Taylor. She talks about the first time she went viral, why she quit her job to become a full-time influencer, why she and Taylor deliberately don’t work together, and her relationship with her stylist who she met when she was 13. Morgan also describes the process of choosing what she wears to matches, why she decides to speak out against injustice on social media, and how she’s seen the tennis world dress differently since she started going on tour. She also talks about the worst sporting event experience she ever had and which sports she’d love to go to more often. Then Morgan talks about The 400 Club, the company of which she’s a co-founder. She wants to give women places that feel safe to watch sports and help brands understand how to reach female fans in ways they haven’t thought of before.  Hosted on Acast. Madeline and Charlotte are back with a very loopy episode of The Sports Gossip Show! They recorded this episode on Monday because there is a very special episode coming on Thursday that they had to film on Tuesday. First, quick Joe Burrow update. Then: Ilia Malinin won a third world championship title! Max Verstappen is considering retiring from F1 because he isn’t having fun at work. The AFCON drama continued when Senegal’s players paraded the Africa Cup of Nations trophy in front of tons of fans after the Confederation of African Football decided that Morocco won the championship. Even though they didn’t? March Madness — the Final Fours are set for men and women, and there was a totally insane end to the men’s Duke-UConn game. Tiger Woods was arrested for a DUI after yet another car crash, and it’s all just pretty sad. The Connecticut Sun are moving back to Houston to become the Rockets, even though a bunch of other markets tried to buy the team. Toronto Tempo head coach Sandy Brondello hired her husband, Olaf Lange, again. Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce attended iHeartRadio Music Awards, and the Chiefs should sign her. Tom Brady can’t stop trying to come out of retirement.  Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Hubert Davis was fired at UNC, Nebraska coach Fred Hoiberg’s twins are on his team, drama between Iowa and Florida, St. John's coach Rick Pitino is back in the Sweet Sixteen with billionaire money, and UConn-Michigan State is the battle of the hard-ass coaches with Dan Hurley and Tom Izzo.  Hosted on Acast. Madeline and Charlotte are back! Charlotte’s birthday is tomorrow and all she wants is for you to rate and review, like and subscribe. Please don’t let her down. This episode starts off with an amazing interview with Yasmin Uzomah, who recently married NFL star C.J. Then C.J crashes the party and the two of them tell the gals whether the Sports Gossip Show played any role in their wedding planning. Plus: the wildest rumors Yasmin has ever heard about C.J. Then, flag football updates: Joe Burrow and Olivia Ponton were spotted out in LA, and Tom Brady really let it all out on Instagram. Brazilian soccer star Jorginho Frello accused singer Chappell Roan‘s security team of yelling at his 11-year-old step-daughter in Brazil. Then, a crazy headline: Dayton Webber – a champion cornhole player who is a quadruple amputee – has been charged with murder. In lighter news: Mondo Duplantis, who holds the world record in pole vaulting and has gotten into singing, is going to compose an anthem for the new World Athletics Ultimate Championship in Budapest. The WNBA is finally paying the players, with a new salary cap starting at $7 million, up from $1.5 million, and with no changes to schedule. Hallelujah! Quick Tom Brady update, because of course. Then, a huge moment for the show: Did we influence the flowers at NFL player CJ Uzomah’s wedding to his wife, Yasmin? An investigation!Remember that messy situation with the African Cup of Nations championship involving Senegal and Morocco? Morocco successfully appealed Senegal’s win, so the story keeps going. In NWSL news, Savy King returned to Angel City ten months after surviving a life-threatening on-field cardiac event. Catarina Macario joined the San Diego Wave FC on maybe the biggest contract in women's soccer history. And Boston Legacy FC made its NWSL debut! It may go all the way to the top when it comes to Trump’s policy on Cuba and Inter Miami owner Jorge Mas. And, finally, tennis scheduling drama involving Aryna Sabalenka and Iga Świątek.  Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr was an executive producer on All The Empty Rooms, which won Best Short Documentary. Jordon Hudson is back! She and her cheerleading squad, Code Black, won a national championship. Her hashtags were incredible. There’s drama with the Chelsea — they were fined £10.75m by the Premier League, as well as a one-year transfer ban. This has to do with Russian oligarchs (trust us). LeBron James’ latest IG story took a page right out of Tom Brady’s book. Plus: US Men’s sled hockey won gold in the Paralympics! Finally, Tom Brady was spotted with manager/money guy Scooter Braun’s ex wife and mining heiress, Yael Cohen Braun. Then it goes into relationship drama: Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott and his fiancée, Sarah Jane Ramos, broke up just five weeks before they were supposed to get married in Italy. No, Joe Burrow and Jessica Alba are not dating. Luka Doncic and his fiancée Anamaria Goltes, whom he has known since middle school and with whom he has two daughters, may have broken up — Goltes seems to have deleted all photos of Luka from her Instagram. A source confirmed to Us Weekly that singer Tate McRae and hockey star Jack Hughes are indeed dating. In a bit of déjà vu from last week’s half marathon drama, LA Marathon leader Michael Kimani Kamau followed the lead pacer off-course with ~400m to go. Tom Brady’s Fanatics flag football game moved to the US from Saudi Arabia, and Travis Kelce is returning for 14th season with the Chiefs for $12 million. The Dolphins released Tua Tagovailoa and the Falcons picked him up…which leads to many questions about the Falcons and Tua’s concussion history. And, finally, Aaron Rodgers went on McAfee and gave a whole big speech that may have been partially directed at…us? Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Plus: The email that Cameron Brink’s fiancé sent her to shoot his shot, and a WNBA CBA update.  F1 driver Charles LeClerc married Alexandra Saint Mieux — were the wedding flowers compressed? Michael Jordan’s NASCAR won the first three races of the NASCAR season for the first time ever. There was drama at the U.S. Half Marathon Championships when a pace car led the fastest women in the wrong direction. And, finally, the US women’s and men’s hockey teams are still trying to clean up the damage done at the Olympics. Hilary Knight and Jack and Quinn Hughes have been all over NBC, but the PR just hasn’t landed quite right.  Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Madeline and Charlotte are thrilled to be joined by Katia Reguero Lindor, the host of “The Unaparent” podcast, and wife of MLB player Francisco, star of the Mets. Katia tells the gals why she feels the responsibility to speak about her left-leaning politics in a traditionally conservative sport, the reality of being married to an athlete, and her upbringing in Puerto Rico. She also talks about parenting, her podcast, “The Unapparent,” and whether the wives and girlfriends of players all actually get along. Plus: The wild rumors she’s heard about herself. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Well, Madeline and Charlotte are back and they couldn’t be madder at the US men’s hockey team! Before they get to that, they talk about the wild and wonderful figure skating gala, Canadian cheaters winning curling, skier Breezy Johnson’s text to teammate Mikaela Shifrin, Lindsey Vonn’s update about almost losing her leg, and Johnny Weir and Tara Lipinsky on Traitors (spoilers, so skip that part if you aren’t caught up!). Then, the gals get into the mess that everyone’s talking about: The US men’s hockey team partied with FBI director Kash Patel and laughed at a bad “joke” that Donald Trump made about the US women’s team. Madeline and Charlotte talk about internalized sexism, how women are supposed to just “take jokes,” how Kash Patel and Trump are huge losers, how the Hughes brothers are going to the State of the Union, and what horrible PR strategy this whole thing has entailed. Plus: Did Kash Patel and JD Vance just watch Eastbound & Down and decide to act like Kenny Powers?  Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
