Description

When life gives you lemons, what do you do with them? Over here at The Squeeze—we talk about it—"it" being our mental health and well being. Host Taylor Lautner's (no, not that guy, but she is married to that guy) introduction to mental health was at a young age, witnessing friends and family suffer in ways she couldn't fully understand. She started a nursing career in the peak of the pandemic and has been struggling with her own mental health ever since. Tay is joined co-host, husband Taylor Lautner, in addition to celebrity and expert guests to further the conversation surrounding mental wellness. At the end of the day, we're all pretty similar; even those living in the lime-est of lights can be weighed down by sour lemons. In addition to sharing coping strategies and stories, we hope that above all, this podcast offers the comfort of knowing you are not alone.

When your hosts started this podcast, they never dreamt they would have someone like today’s guest on the show. It is truly a dream come true to offer Madison Baloy a platform to share her story, a story that’s impacted so many through her platforms and beyond. Diagnosed with Stage 4 terminal cancer and having undergone a colostomy, Madison joins the Lautners to discuss her diagnosis and to reveal how she’s navigating life in the aftermath with such positivity, vulnerability, and authenticity. She explains what “terminal” means, talks about getting her awesome head tattoo, and shares her experience of having to engage in end-of-life conversations at only 26 years old. She also expands on her bucket list and the incredible things that have come from it going viral. While she did not choose to be part of medical discourse or the disabled community, she is taking this opportunity to live life on her terms and offer representation to anyone who can relate.   You can follow Madison @fruitsnackmaddy  Thanks to our awesome sponsors for supporting this episode:  Brooklinen — Visit in-store or online at Brooklinen.com and use code thesqueeze for $20 off your order of $100 or more   Squeezed.com — Go to Squeezed.com for same day local delivery or Free Fast delivery nationwide with code THESQUEEZE  Caraway — Visit Carawayhome.com/SQUEEZE to take advantage of this limited-time offer for 10% off your next purchase. For the first time ever, The Lautners welcome back a past guest, Dr. Amen, for another conversation on mental wellness, this time for children. Whether you’re a parent, want to be a parent, or have no desire to be a parent, Dr. Amen offers insight into relationships and development that we’re certain you can apply to your life in some way. Dr. Amen explains why he wanted to write a book with Dr. Charles Fay and tackle what is missing from most parenting books—brain health! He explains the importance of special time, active listening, and letting children make affordable mistakes. There is undeniably a youth mental health crisis, and Dr. Amen hopes that by offering a “parenting manual” that encourages firm, kind parenting, children will have a better chance at mental strength from the very start.   Be sure to follow Dr. Amen @doc_amen and pre-order his new book, Raising Mentally Strong Kids: How to Combine the Power of Neuroscience with Love and Logic to Grow Confident, Kind, Responsible, and Resilient Children and Young Adults  Thanks to our awesome sponsors for supporting this episode!   Caraway — Visit Carawayhome.com/THESQUEEZE or use code THESQUEEZE at checkout to take advantage of this limited-time offer for 10% off your next purchase  Cerebral — Cerebral is giving our listeners 15% off their first month of online therapy, medication or both. This week’s episode of Squeezon 2 (shoutout to Boy Tay for that pun) features two highly requested guests who also happen to be family; Makena Moore (formerly Lautner) and her husband Jacob Moore! We’ve heard the story of how Tay & Taylor came to be from their own perspective, but what does their matchmaker Makena recall from the early days of their relationship? And, what made her believe her new friend Tay would be a potential match for her brother? She’s answering these questions and sharing what went down behind the scenes. While Makena and Taylor clearly have a close sibling bond, that doesn’t mean that Taylor’s fame was easy to navigate for his younger sister. Makena opens up about the not-so-shiny parts of having a famous brother and how his success has affected her own identity. Jake and Makena also open up about their very own love story and their baby boy Breckon who has forever altered their lives (and their aunt and uncle’s lives!). Parenthood changes things (to say the least), and Makena and Jake open up about Makena’s postpartum depression and why she’s decided to change the way mamas look for answers to their many questions. There are plenty of laughs and also some tears as these four let the Lemon Drops into the intimate inner workings of their family.  Be sure to follow @mrsmakenamoore @mrjbmoore and check out @mysupportingmamas & www.mysupportingmamas.com   Thanks to our awesome sponsors for supporting this episode:  Ritual - Get 40% off your first month for a limited time at ritual.com/THESQUEEZE. This week the Lautners engage in an insightful conversation with Dr. David Rosmarin, a clinical psychologist, scientist, educator, and author. Together, they discuss the distinction between stress and anxiety and the societal tendency to over medicate those with an anxiety diagnosis. Dr. Rosmarin presents a refreshing perspective, emphasizing that anxiety isn't inherently negative and can be leveraged positively. He shares his approaches to navigating anxiety, and together they discuss how anxiety can enhance relationships and contribute to self-awareness, resilience, and spirituality. They also discuss his advice on setting boundaries with family during the holiday season, and supporting loved ones during difficult times. This episode offers tools for personal growth and supporting loved ones when it comes to navigating anxiety, especially as we enter the holiday season.   Be sure to follow @dhrosmarin, visit his website dhrosmarin.com and check out his book Thriving with Anxiety.  Thanks to our awesome sponsor for supporting this episode:  Factor— Head to factormeals.com/thesqueeze50 and use code thesqueeze50 to get 50% off  To email us your questions or share your story, you can reach out to lautner.thesqueezepodcast@gmail.com. Tay & Taylor have been long-time fans of today’s guest, so they’re excited to hear from the musician himself as he opens up about his mental health, his songwriting process, and his daily life with OCD and ADHD. Alec Benjamin didn’t find music until high school, but once he did his life was forever changed. He shares several stories of how he first discovered that his brain worked a little differently and how as a result, trying to fit into the system that society has setup has not come easy. Once he learned to open up through his music, a whole new set of mental health struggles came about: navigating life on tour, dealing with immediate audience feedback, and constantly facing the pressure of success. The Lautners and Alec talk about how exercise and therapy are two tools that they all turn to in order to manage their mental health. Plus, the Lautners hear how OCD affects Alec’s day to day, the surprising cover song you won’t be able to find online, and how he came up with his new song: I Sent My Therapist To Therapy.  Be sure to follow @alecbenjamin and check out the music video for I Sent My Therapist To Therapy  Thanks to our awesome sponsors for supporting this episode:  Article —Go to ARTICLE.COM/THESQUEEZE for $50 off your first purchase of $100 or more  SKIMS — The Fits Everybody collection and more perfect-fit essentials are available now at SKIMS.com. This is a super exciting episode for your hosts! Taylor, in particular, is a huge fan of Dan Griffith, aka Gryffin. They dive into the life of a DJ, from the schedule to the environment that many people get caught up in. First, they go back to the beginning and learn where his love of music came from and how he actually went to school for engineering. Dan talks about the moment he took a leap and decided to pursue music, and learning the importance of delegation and having boundaries. He shares the role his wife plays in his life and career, and the importance of prioritizing his relationship. Lastly, he shares what the next year is going to look like, teases new music, and tackles a few Lemon 11 questions.  Be sure to follow Gryffin on Instagram and TikTok, @gryffin  Thanks to our awesome sponsors for supporting this episode:  Blissy — Get better sleep now with Blissy and use THESQUEEZE to get an additional 30% off at blissy.com/THESQUEEZE  OUAI — Go to theouai.com for 15% off sitewide when you enter promo code THESQUEEZE  To email us your questions or share your story, you can reach out to lautner.thesqueezepodcast@gmail.com. Socks, crocs, and jealousy, oh my! This week’s solo episode covers everything under the lemon tree as your hosts answer your questions! First, they recap their first Lemons Foundation gala, sharing how it truly could not have gone better and the importance of hosting it on a rooftop. They talk about how quickly this year has flown by and Megan Fox’s new poetry book (and one poem in particular that really had them thinking) before diving into Tea Time with Tay(s). They talk about jealousy, fame, dating, outside opinions on their relationship, and who they would be most starstruck to meet.  Thanks to our awesome sponsors for supporting this episode:  Liquid I.V. — Grab your Liquid I.V.
