Welcome back to another episode of The Viall Files, Going Deeper Edition! Today we are joined by reality TV star Joey Zauzig. Before getting into the interview, we discuss Grammy performances and losses, and play F*ck, Marry, Kill with award shows. We then bring on Joey for his interview, where we dive into his current relationship and therapy journey, how he separates sex and intimacy, and how open relationships or threesomes can help you and your partner stay close. We also play a “Good Friend” game where we get to debate what a good friend would do in various situations - from missing their birthday dinner to finding out they’re cheating. We then bring on our Texting Office Hours caller who needs to end a situationship after he continues to violate her boundaries. Joey puts on his relationship advice hat and reminds her that she deserves more!  “Adele will touch your heart. And push you into having a threesome.” If you are interested in running a book club in your city, send an email to: DTYEHBBookClub@gmail.com  Please make sure to subscribe so you don’t miss an episode and as always send in your relationship questions to asknick@theviallfiles.com to be a part of our Monday episodes. Welcome back to another episode of The Viall Files: Bachelor Recap Edition! We’re back with journalist and friend of show, Elizabeth Wagmeister, to discuss the third episode of Zach’s season. We start out by covering the week’s Bachelor Tea, including some headlines about Nick and why The Bachelor isn’t concerned with keeping up with Love is Blind. We dive into this week’s episode and discuss Kaity’s one on one sleepover date (what actually happened, and did they sleep in that tent?), the Bachelor Bowl 5, and Aly’s skydiving adventure. Also, the cocktail-turned-pool party, several women self-eliminating, and the shocking final rose given out. Why is Zach the ideal Bachelor, who will turn into the villain now that Christina is gone, and what can we expect when travel begins next week?  “Maybe ABC is putting the viewers’ money where their mouth is.”  If you are interested in running a book club in your city, send an email to: DTYEHBBookClub@gmail.com Please make sure to subscribe so you don’t miss an episode and as always send in your relationship questions to asknick@theviallfiles.com to be a part of our Monday episodes. Welcome back to another episode of The Viall Files: Ask Nick Edition! We’re back to answer your burning questions about the world of dating and relationships. Before getting to our callers, we discuss Amanda’s trip to Vegas, Ali matching with a British man on Hinge, and we Yay-SMR a listener who ended a 10 year long situationship. Finally, we have our most recent Breakup Song of the Week submission. Our first caller is debating pursuing the woman her ex girlfriend cheated on her with. Do they have a connection, or is the instinct out of spite? Our next caller has a long distance boyfriend that has a lot of opinions and criticisms of the outfits she wears. We discuss that it might be less about the outfits, and more about a lack of trust in their relationship. Our final caller is debating how to handle running into her fitness coach now that their relationship has ended. Should she leave her gym, or try to muscle through?  “There’s no medal for being friends with someone you have feelings for.”  If you are interested in running a book club in your city, send an email to: DTYEHBBookClub@gmail.com   Please make sure to subscribe so you don’t miss an episode and as always send in your relationship questions to asknick@theviallfiles.com to be a part of our Monday episodes.  Join us for our new LIVE show on Thursdays at 9PM ET/6PM PT on Amp, available in the Apple app store.  To Order Nick’s Book Go To: http://www.viallfiles.com Support a Local Bookstore: https://bookshop.org/books/don-t-text-your-ex-happy-birthday-and-other-advice-on-love-sex-and-dating-9798212185622/9781419755491 If you would like to get some texting advice on Office Hours send an email to asknick@theviallfiles.com with “Texting Office Hours” in the subject line!  To advertise on the show, contact sales@advertisecast.com or visit https://www.advertisecast.com/TheViallFiles THANK YOU TO OUR SPONSORS: Betterhelp: This episode is sponsored by BetterHelp. Welcome back to another episode of The Viall Files: Going Deeper Edition! Before we dive into our interview, we discuss Tom Brady’s breaking news retirement and if Giselle should take him back, along with recent TikTok mascara drama. Then, newlyweds Taylor and Tay Lautner join us to talk about relationships, dating, and marriage. Was it difficult for Tay to deal with Taylor’s famous exes? Who is better at avoiding online hate and reading comments? And which elements of their wedding do they regret? Finally, we end our episode with a Texting Office Hours caller whose ex ghosts her for 2-3 months at a time only to resurface with an expensive gift - most recently, sending her flowers on their anniversary despite not having seen each other in two years.  “Taylor, if you’re listening to this…”  If you are interested in running a book club in your city, send an email to: DTYEHBBookClub@gmail.com Please make sure to subscribe so you don’t miss an episode and as always send in your relationship questions to asknick@theviallfiles.com to be a part of our Monday episodes. Welcome back to another episode of The Viall Files: Bachelor Recap Edition! We’re back with comedian and friend of show, Jim Jeffries, to discuss the second episode of Zach’s season. Jim starts out by telling us just how boring this season’s been so far, and some ideas he has to spice it up - including getting his assistant Jack on an upcoming season of The Bachelorette and talking about how The Bachelor Australia stars three bachelors and a polyamorous contestant. We debate if early eliminations are a sign of no connection or no attraction, and if we liked Latto’s Big B*tch Energy contest. Was Tahzjuan there for good television time, or was she straight up mean? Jim creates his own sad story template to win over the lead’s heart, and gives Prince Harry and the royal family some notes on future diplomacy.  “Can I vote Holland back on? She would be good entertainment.”  If you are interested in running a book club in your city, send an email to: DTYEHBBookClub@gmail.com Please make sure to subscribe so you don’t miss an episode and as always send in your relationship questions to asknick@theviallfiles.com to be a part of our Monday episodes. Welcome back to another episode of The Viall Files: Ask Nick Edition! We’re back to answer your burning questions about the world of dating and relationships. Before getting to our callers, we discuss the idea of making a dating shopping list - is it setting you up for failure by judging people too quickly, or does it reduce the amount of disheartening dates on your calendar? Our first caller just got out of a four year situationship with a “man child” she works with after he made her the bottom of his priority list. To make matters worse, he then had a public melt down - in the office. Our next caller is playing a game of moving chicken with her long distance boyfriend. He lives in their hometown and she’s been commuting back four hours on weekends to see him from her new city. She knows she won’t be happy if she moves back, and needs to figure out how to ask him to try out city life on a trial basis. Our final caller is wondering if her boyfriend’s friend is acting too much like his girlfriend, including buying him an expensive vintage jacket for Christmas. Is there something going on between them that our caller doesn’t know about? “If you get back together with him, it is 100% your fault.”  If you are interested in running a book club in your city, send an email to: DTYEHBBookClub@gmail.com  Please make sure to subscribe so you don’t miss an episode and as always send in your relationship questions to asknick@theviallfiles.com to be a part of our Monday episodes. To advertise on the show, contact sales@advertisecast.com or visit https://www.advertisecast.com/TheViallFiles Episode Socials:@viallfiles @nickviall @alison.vandam @liffordthebigreddog

We bring on our first caller who had a tumultuous relationship with her birth mother and wasn’t sure if it was better to forgive her and try to establish peace, or if she should move on and prioritize less toxic relationships. Our second caller had gone to a Harry Styles concert with a platonic guy friend from her apartment building, only to have things turn romantic. Has she listened to Nick’s advice and addressed the shift in dynamic head-on? Finally, we get an update from our caller that was thinking about hooking up with her boss’s - despite him showing some fuckboy qualities. Whose number did she get at the family holiday party, and who booty called her while with her boss? We also have some written updates! We find Brad and Nick on WikiFeet and hear that Nick asked Brad to take his pants off at The Grove. The five women from the live show return to see Zach again, and Brianna is hoping to add a first impression rose from Zach to the one already in her hand. Welcome back to another episode of The Viall Files: Ask Nick Edition! We’re back to answer your burning questions about the world of dating and relationships! Before getting to our callers, Nick shares a friend’s dating story and how moving too quickly (and ignoring the advice of friends) can lead to a relationship ending. And we have our latest Break Up Song of the Week submission from Amanda before jumping into our callers. Our first caller is currently hooking up with her friend’s situationship, and thinks he wants to date her despite not wanting to commit to her friend. Do his actions prove that he’s ready for commitment? Our next caller was in an open relationship with her husband due to being long distance. However, he’s finally moved home and reestablished monogamy. But our caller is missing the days of sleeping with other people, and doesn’t know how to tell her husband. Our final caller is wondering if her boyfriend drinks too much. She’s addressed the situation before, but he’s lied to her about drinking and how much he’s drinking since their conversation. Can this issue be resolved, or will it only continue to get worse? “Lying to you wasn’t as important as having a drink.” If you are interested in running a book club in your city, send an email to: DTYEHBBookClub@gmail.com  Please make sure to subscribe so you don’t miss an episode and as always send in your relationship questions to asknick@theviallfiles.com to be a part of our Monday episodes. To advertise on the show, contact sales@advertisecast.com or visit https://www.advertisecast.com/TheViallFiles THANK YOU TO OUR SPONSORS: Grammarly: Go to http://www.grammarly.com/tone to download and learn more about Grammarly Premium’s advanced tone suggestions. Welcome back to another episode of The Viall Files, Going Deeper Edition! Today we are joined by Nick’s fiancée Natalie Joy for a special Engagement Episode. We discuss everything from when Natalie started dropping hints, to when Nick started ring shopping, to the run of show for the proposal. Their perfect night involved a fake event, hiring actors, flying in an event planner and vinyl designer, and even Tom Hanks finding out about the proposal! Nick and Natalie laugh (and cry) about their relationship and a future together. And we wrap up the episode by talking to a caller who needs to uninvite relatives from wedding dress shopping.  “She’s very nosy, which is frustrating.”  If you are interested in running a book club in your city, send an email to: DTYEHBBookClub@gmail.com  Please make sure to subscribe so you don’t miss an episode and as always send in your relationship questions to asknick@theviallfiles.com to be a part of our Monday episodes.  Download the AMP App: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/amp-live-radio-music-talk/id1586403838 To Order Nick’s Book Go To: http://www.viallfiles.com Support a Local Bookstore: https://bookshop.org/books/don-t-text-your-ex-happy-birthday-and-other-advice-on-love-sex-and-dating-9798212185622/9781419755491 If you would like to get some advice on Office Hours send an email to asknick@theviallfiles.com with “Office Hours” in the subject line!  To advertise on the show, contact sales@advertisecast.com or visit https://www.advertisecast.com/TheViallFiles THANK YOU TO OUR SPONSORS: OSEA: Get 10% off your first order sitewide with code VIALLFILES at http://www.OSEAMalibu.com Episode Socials: @viallfiles@nickviall@nnataliejjoy @lacedvinylshoppe
Welcome back to another episode of The Viall Files: Bachelor Bios Edition! On this episode we sit down with Lisa Schwartz to discuss the contestant bios of Zach’s upcoming season of the Bachelor! Before getting into the bios, we talk about The Chainsmokers having  threesomes with fans, along with discovering a new passion or career later in life. As always there’s more Bachelor Nation news, including Chris Harrison issuing an apology to Nick. In this week’s second half of the contestant bios, we realize that there seems to be an increase in nurses and future mothers in the group, and talk about how starting a foundation in your twenties might be a red flag. Finally, Nick makes a prediction about Zach ending up with an older woman!  “Her special talent is sounding like a dolphin. Welcome back to another episode of The Viall Files: Ask Nick Edition! We’re back to answer your burning questions about the world of dating and relationships! Before getting to our callers, Nick reveals his plans to propose to Natalie and how he’s going to pop the question! We also get the latest update from Amanda’s break-up song of the week and respond to some listener feedback regarding the recent advice given on an episode of Ask Nick. We then get into our callers! Our first caller has reason to suspect her parents are in a polyamorous relationship and she is wondering how to address it with them. While she respects their choices, she’s hoping to stop them from actively being bad at sneaking around behind her back when she visits. Our next caller met a DJ who goes through a cycle of hooking her in with intense messages but then ghosts her. With this trend repeating, our caller wonders how to uncloud her judgment. Our final caller feels her partner is being hypocritical and setting up double standards in the relationship and wants to know how she can get him to realize what he’s doing. While she fully trusts her partner having his ex in her life, her partner doesn’t bestow the same trust in our frustrated caller. Our caller worries about how they can progress their relationship when in reality, even after two years, he doesn’t fully trust her.  “Your ego is being a bad bouncer”  If you are interested in running a book club in your city, send an email to: DTYEHBBookClub@gmail.com  Please make sure to subscribe so you don’t miss an episode and as always send in your relationship questions to asknick@theviallfiles.com to be a part of our Monday episodes.  To Order Nick’s Book Go To: http://www.viallfiles.com Support a Local Bookstore: https://bookshop.org/books/don-t-text-your-ex-happy-birthday-and-other-advice-on-love-sex-and-dating-9798212185622/9781419755491 Check out our new "Introvert" merch at http://www.viallfiles.com today! Welcome back to another episode of The Viall Files, Going Deeper Edition! Today we are joined by actor, director, producer, speaker, and entrepreneur, Justin Baldoni! Before getting into the interview, we break down Prince Harry’s 60 Minutes Interview with Anderson Cooper and the aftermath of his appearance. We reflect on feeling empathy for Harry, worried if he’s opened too many cans of worms, donating to charity with money that isn’t yours, and acting out after repressing everything for years. We then break down the movie “The Menu” and get into the film’s depiction of death and debating if an afterlife exists. We then bring on Justin for his interview, talking about insecurity, interfacing with masculinity, learning from your father, and the importance of young boys learning emotional intelligence. We also talk about the difference between acceptance and accountability, writing about being enough, combatting the feeling of directionlessness, how men can truly be vulnerable, and raising a son with empathy in mind. We also bring on our Texting Office Hours caller who after learning that she was cheated on, takes extreme public measures. Recognizing she may have been toxic, our caller wonders how to best move forward from the situation. We then close by talking about what makes Nick and Justin cry.  “No one told me I was enough.” If you are interested in running a book club in your city, send an email to: DTYEHBBookClub@gmail.com  Please make sure to subscribe so you don’t miss an episode and as always send in your relationship questions to our new email address asknick@theviallfiles.com to be a part of our Monday episodes.  If you would like to get some advice on Office Hours send an email to asknick@theviallfiles.com with “Office Hours” in the subject line!  To Order Nick’s Book Go To: http://www.viallfiles.com Support a Local Bookstore: https://bookshop.org/books/don-t-text-your-ex-happy-birthday-and-other-advice-on-love-sex-and-dating-9798212185622/9781419755491 THANK YOU TO OUR SPONSORS: BetterHelp: If you want to live a more empowered life, therapy can get you there. Welcome back to another episode of The Viall Files: Ask Nick Edition! We’re here again to bring on our callers and help them navigate the world of dating, relationships, and situationships! Before getting to our callers, Ali gives an update about meeting someone in her improv class, we talk about our upcoming new show, and we get into Amanda’s breakup song of the week! We then get into our callers! Our first caller is struggling with her boyfriend not doing a lot of the things she wants him to do, inside the bedroom and out. She wonders how to approach the subject of getting him to do more and if they may just not be compatible. Our next caller started dating her car salesman, worried that this may end up being a situationship waiting to happen. Our last caller wonders what to do after seeing that the guy she’s been dating for a month has received messages from his ex. Panicking and asking him to define the relationship afterwards, and him reacting poorly, she wonders if she was overreacting to a situation or if these are genuine red flags she should be worried about.  “He ghosted you on Christmas when you had plans?”  If you are interested in running a book club in your city, send an email to: DTYEHBBookClub@gmail.com  Please make sure to subscribe so you don’t miss an episode and as always send in your relationship questions to asknick@theviallfiles.com to be a part of our Monday episodes. Today we are joined by cognitive scientist and creator of A Slight Change In Plans, Dr. Maya Shankar. Before getting into the interview, we first get a quick update on GMA’s TJ and Amy’s relationship status, the recent info released about the Idaho murders, Andy Cohen and Anderson Cooper getting banned from drinking on New Year’s Eve, and speculate on what they hope to learn from Anderson Cooper’s upcoming interview with Prince Harry. We then dig deep with Dr. Maya Shankar, talking about the best ways to set and hold yourself to New Year’s Resolutions. We talk about framing goals to be motivating and if it’s better to start something or quit something.. We also discuss the “empathy gap” between your present self and future self, and integrating slack into your goals. Dr. Shankar explains what she learned from having parents in a successful arranged marriage, the science of quitting, and why it’s important to tolerate boredom when structuring goals. We also talk about using novel experiences to break patterns in a relationship, and how “temptation funneling” can help you accomplish your goals. We then welcome our Texting Office Hours caller who recently matched with someone on Hinge who is extremely allergic to dogs. Our caller, having a dog herself, wonders if this is a dealbreaker or if she should try to give this guy a chance.  “How would a cognitive scientist write their wedding vows?”  If you are interested in running a book club in your city, send an email to: DTYEHBBookClub@gmail.com  Please make sure to subscribe so you don’t miss an episode and as always send in your relationship questions to our new email address asknick@theviallfiles.com to be a part of our Monday episodes.  If you would like to get some advice on Office Hours send an email to asknick@theviallfiles.com with “Office Hours” in the subject line!  To Order Nick’s Book Go To: http://www.viallfiles.com Support a Local Bookstore: https://bookshop.org/books/don-t-text-your-ex-happy-birthday-and-other-advice-on-love-sex-and-dating-9798212185622/9781419755491 THANK YOU TO OUR SPONSORS: Modern Fertility: Right now, Modern Fertility is offering our listeners $20 off the test when you go to http://www.ModernFertility.com/VIALL.  Episode Socials:  @viallfiles @nickviall @drmayashankar See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Welcome back to The Viall Files: Freestyle Edition! Today we are joined by former Viner, YouTuber, podcaster, and entrepreneur, Heath Hussar. In our first recording of the new year, we start off with some Bachelor Tea, getting into Tyler Cameron and Kristin Cavalleri spending New Year’s Eve together, placing bets if they will become official or not, Michelle Young’s “leave no crumbs” comment, and talking about a reality TV crossover where Susie Evans called into a dating podcast that Cole from Love Is Blind Season 3 was a guest. We then end Bachelor Tea by talking about Rachel Lindsey expressing that she will not go on Chris Harrison’s new podcast, but that if Chris was willing to go on her podcast, she would be down to talk. We then get into talking about New Year's Resolutions, whether it’s easier to stop a bad habit than it is to start a new one, and how Heath quit smoking. We then get into the conversations around broadcasters drinking on air during the New Year's Eve shows, and then dive deep into the nepo baby discourse surrounding the release of the infamous New York Mag cover. We then discuss Celine Dion being left off of the Rolling Stones’ “200 Greatest Singers of All Time” list, and share some airport stories before jumping into Texting Office Hours. We’re then joined by a caller whose friend has recently started dating her ex-boyfriend. Worried about the situation and the safety of her friend given some past situations, our caller wonders how involved she should be in giving advice and potentially stopping this relationship. “Take advantage of luck.”  If you are interested in running a book club in your city, send an email to: DTYEHBBookClub@gmail.com  Please make sure to subscribe so you don’t miss an episode and as always send in your relationship questions to our new email address asknick@theviallfiles.com to be a part of our Monday episodes.  To Order Nick’s Book Go To: http://www.viallfiles.com Support a Local Bookstore: https://bookshop.org/books/don-t-text-your-ex-happy-birthday-and-other-advice-on-love-sex-and-dating-9798212185622/9781419755491 THANK YOU TO OUR SPONSORS: Rocket Money: Stop throwing your money away. Welcome back to another episode of The Viall Files: Ask Nick Edition! We want to wish you a very Happy New Year and say thank you for watching! On this show, we bring on our callers to give advice about the world of dating. Before getting to our callers, we dive into talking about being pickier on dating apps and testing the waters with a Facetime date. We then bring on our first caller, who after reconnecting with a past girlfriend, finds out that she’s already dating someone. Even after seeing red flags everywhere, knowing that she’s being suspicious, he still continues talking to her, wondering at this point if he should cut things off or not ask too many questions. Our next caller is wondering whether she should have her mom, who she is closest to, walk her down the aisle instead of her dad. Knowing that her dad can take things personally, she worries that she may be ending a relationship by going with her mom. Our last caller is wondering what to do after she finds old friends coming out of the woodwork after getting engaged. Now, our caller wonders how to deal with a friendship that’s changed and, while important, is no longer a priority.  “Spoiler alert: I think about you a lot.”  If you are interested in running a book club in your city, send an email to: DTYEHBBookClub@gmail.com  Please make sure to subscribe so you don’t miss an episode and as always send in your relationship questions to asknick@kastmedia.com to be a part of our Monday episodes. This is great if you like listening to an Airhead try to talk about love. But in all seriousness... If I had a choice between getting Covid and having to listen to this podcast everyday, I'd pick Covid everytime.

This is the most annoying episode of Ask Nick I’ve ever heard. All of the callers were so dumb and dishonest with themselves. None of these are problems, just stop being dumb and in denial about what you want and are doing. Jeeeeezus.

When Nick said " being alone and not lonely " , we all need to learn that in our 20's, still working on that.

NICK! Thank you for this! This is the content the world needed this week. I haven’t gotten to the Dr.’s official analysis yet but I just really appreciate this idea. I’ve been very preoccupied with the Katie/Greg breakup and the great divide among Bach Nation over what we saw. As someone who was in an emotionally abusive relationship for almost 5 years where I was gaslighted (actual definition, not pop definition) frequently, I was surprisingly Team Greg in this exchange and untriggered. I felt incredible empathy for him in the moment. After listening to my other favorite Pods: Shandy and Chatty Broads, I started to doubt my instincts and was wondering how I could have missed an abuser in plain sight. Contrast this with the Love Is Blind After the Alter special which hit Netflix the same week and featured Damian gaslighting the LIVING SHIT out of Gigi, which I did feel very triggered by. Anyway, I felt the need for some true guidance and insight here by a professional. As someone who has been truly gaslit and abused I am sensitive to the words being thrown around and diluted. I can see why Katie feels the way she did, but I’m not sure it fits the bill entirely. (I agreed w your stance on your anal ep. Very grey. I will now continue to listen.

Nick, I am positively bursting with pride for you right now. You handled all of these calls so beautifully. It’s clear how much you’ve learned from therapy, how confident you are in your new relationship, and your advice has never been better! I wonder if they give out professional certificates for podcast therapy, because you are ready for yours let me tell you. In other news I dream the other night that you became the bachelor again and I went on your season and you sent me home first out of everybody and you and Chris Harrison both said that I was crazy. I’m not holding it against you.

Sometimes I am so impressed with how insightful his advice to people is, but other times so disappointed with how condescending he can be toward people he is interviewing/chatting with, especially when it is someone significantly younger than him. It has made me cringe a few times. Also, I just have to say, it is so rude when Chrissy continuously giggles in the background of an interview.
