I wonder if anyone ever suggested birth control pills for her? Taken continuously, they eliminate not only the menstrual cycle but the fluctuation of hormones and are FDA indicated for the treatment of PMDD (I know the patient is in Canada, but the data is still applicable).

I've had the same EXACT thing happen in my bedroom. I felt that evil presence too that I still to this day know was evil also. Like you, I was vulnerable and believe that I was an easy spiritual target. I never thought I was the messiah lol but have had a lot of similar experiences, and weed and lack of sleep do trigger the psychotic episodes for me.

Don't blame drugs for your problems. Drug use is never the problem; it's a symptom of deeper psychological or emotional issues. That's why simply taking the drugs away doesn't cure addiction.

Don't do hot yoga either!!! It's trendy, but it's BAD for you, puts so much stress on your cardiorespiratory circuit, and sends many practitioners to the hospital every year with heat stroke and/or cardiovascular events. Just do regular yoga, geez; there's no reason to stress your body with excessive heat. You might as well tie a plastic bag over your head.

This guy needs his own podcast! Great storyteller and certainly a perspective that I’ve never hear or considered. Very enlightening.

One vowel is all it takes to change BItter into BEtter. You are better because of your ability to see the bigger picture. ♥️ keep pushing through life, it could ALWAYS be worse.

If this is the worst thing to happen in your life, then you haven’t fully lived. I’ve never heard anyone cry about how they had a bad trip and blame some one else. That’s not okay. You are a grown person, this isn’t anyone’s fault but your own. Eating disorder, mushrooms, DMT, psycho best friends. These are all things that are in YOUR control.

At first I thought, “Why is this podcast-worthy? Who is impressed by these stories?” But then I realized what a valuable service this podcast is doing for people. A lot of these stories don’t shock me because they are so similar to my own experiences with generational trauma and rampant substance abuse and mental illness in a toxic family. But, I’m realizing that not everyone is in the same place I find myself after doing so much work with therapists and self-study (and still working—recovery is a journey). I recommend books and audiobooks to friends and family, but I doubt my recommendations are heeded. Amid the TL;DR zeitgeist, this podcast is such an accessible way to get these issues into the public consciousness. Fantastic!
