In this episode, we open the box and take a first look at the brand new Trim Healthy Mama book, The 7 Skills to Lasting Health. We talk about what it feels like to finally hold this little book in our hands, why it is so much shorter and simpler than some of our past books, and how it was created to make the Trim Healthy way easier to understand, live out, and share with others.
We explore the heart behind the seven skills and why lasting health is not built through shame, extremes, or complicated rules. You’ll hear us talk through where to begin, why breakfast, protein, veggies, movement, and grace matter so much, and how these simple skills can become a peaceful rhythm instead of another stressful diet plan.
We also dive into real life struggles like staying consistent when life gets busy, knowing what to eat day to day, breaking old habits, and getting back on track after slipping. Plus, we talk about sugar, sweeteners, easy repeat meals, and why small, doable changes can lead to a more sustainable way of caring for your body.
If you want a first look at the new book, a behind the scenes conversation about why we wrote it, and practical encouragement for building lasting health with more grace and less overwhelm, this episode is full of laughter, honesty, and helpful insight

In this episode, we talk about Skill 5: Unshackle from Sugar and why breaking free from sugar can be such a powerful step toward lasting health, stronger energy, and greater freedom in everyday life. Through honest stories, humor, and real-life examples, we explore how sugar can quietly shape habits, cravings, family traditions, and even the way we think about celebration and comfort.
We also unpack some lesser-known ways sugar can affect the body, including energy crashes, mineral depletion, gut imbalance, skin aging, immune weakness, eye health, hormone detox, and dopamine-driven cravings. You’ll hear why sugar is more than just “empty calories” and how it can become a cycle that keeps people feeling stuck, tired, inflamed, and dependent on the next sweet fix.
Beyond the science, this conversation brings compassion for the generational patterns many families face around sugar, while also offering hope that change is possible. We talk about the importance of replacing sugar wisely, creating healthier traditions, and learning where your personal line needs to be so freedom feels realistic instead of joyless.
Whether you’re just beginning your Trim Healthy journey or have been working on this skill for years, this episode offers practical encouragement, truth, and motivation to help you take another step toward a stronger, freer, and healthier life.

We also move beyond postpartum and talk about PCOS, perimenopause, menopause, hormone therapy, exercise, muscle, metabolism, and blood sugar. This episode brings practical encouragement for women who feel like something has shifted in their body and want real answers instead of being dismissed.
If you’ve ever wondered why your hair is thinning, why your energy feels different, or how to better support your body after birth or during midlife, this episode offers honest insight and helpful perspective for every season of womanhood.

We explain the difference between energizing meals, satisfying meals, and crossover meals, and how each one can fit into a sustainable approach to health.
You’ll hear practical tips on when fuel separation may be helpful, why protein stays at the center of every meal, and how to avoid extreme dieting that can slow metabolism and cost you muscle. We also touch on meal timing, snacks, and how to build meals that support both nourishment and long-term wellness.
Whether you’re working toward fat loss, better energy, or a more balanced way of eating, this episode offers simple, encouraging guidance to help you move forward with confidence.

In this episode, we talk about why postpartum nutrition deserves far more attention, and why the weeks and months after birth are such an important season for healing, rebuilding, and nourishment. We explore the physical demands of postpartum life, from tissue repair and blood loss to milk production, and why so many women feel pressure to “bounce back” before their bodies are truly ready.
You’ll hear a practical conversation about protein, nutrient-dense foods, healthy fats, gentle carbs, and why eating enough in the postpartum season matters so much. We also discuss how lactation can place major demands on the body, why muscle loss and depletion can happen when nourishment is lacking, and how simple, wise choices can support recovery without turning health into something stressful or extreme.
We also dive into postpartum exercise, the cultural pressure to rush back into workouts, and why rest, posture, walking, breathing, and gradual rebuilding may be far more supportive than pushing too hard too soon. Plus, we talk about real postpartum struggles like exhaustion, hunger, mood shifts, recovery challenges, and the importance of giving women practical support instead of unrealistic expectations.
We also touch on collagen, connective tissue repair, brain-supportive nutrients like DHA and vitamin D, and why a simple, balanced approach to food can make such a difference during the postpartum season. If you want encouragement and practical insight for nourishing your body after birth, supporting recovery, and caring for yourself in a more sustainable way, this episode is full of helpful conversation and honest perspective.

We also explore how building a more diverse microbiome through a variety of vegetables, fermented foods like kefir, and even ancient grains can improve insulin sensitivity, reduce inflammation, and support muscle and hormone health. You’ll hear practical ways to add these foods gradually, especially if you have sensitive digestion, metabolic struggles, or are walking through hormonal changes.
Beyond food itself, we talk about the importance of keeping a balanced mindset while learning new nutrition principles and how tools like ChatGPT can be used thoughtfully for personalized health support. This episode offers practical encouragement to help healthy living feel more achievable, gentle, and sustainable.
Whether you’re just getting started or have been on your wellness journey for years, this episode offers simple, life-giving wisdom to help you strengthen your health one step at a time.

In this episode, we explore the powerful connection between stress, the nervous system, and weight loss, and why so many women may feel stuck even when they are trying to do everything right. We talk about how chronic fight or flight responses can raise cortisol, affect digestion, encourage belly fat storage, and make it harder for the body to rest, heal, and release weight.
You’ll learn practical ways to support the vagus nerve and calm the body, including breathwork, movement, laughter, connection, and even simple moments of love and kindness. We also discuss the emotional side of health, self worth, and why community, healthy relationships, and learning to regulate stress can be just as important as food and exercise.
We also dive into brain health, including vitamin D’s connection to long term cognitive support, and talk through how to approach wellness information without getting caught up in hype. Plus, we spotlight greens and reds powders, gut health, beneficial bacteria, and how simple daily habits can support energy, metabolism, and overall health.

In this episode, we talk about Skill 2: Eat Sufficient Protein and the essential role protein plays in supporting muscle maintenance, metabolism, and immune health, especially as you get older. Learn why getting around 25 to 30 grams of protein at each meal, spread across the day, can help protect against muscle loss and support strength, stability, and longevity. We also clear up common myths about protein and bulky muscles, while encouraging a “protein strong” mindset that helps make healthy choices feel simple, steady, and doable.
You’ll hear practical tips for making protein a more consistent part of your everyday life, including the simple question, “Where is my protein?” before each meal. We also talk about growing in awareness, from simply noticing your intake to understanding how to build meals that truly satisfy and nourish your body. Whether you prefer animal proteins, plant-based options, or essential amino acid support, this episode offers helpful guidance for fueling your body well.
We also cover why muscle health matters for so much more than strength alone. Protein supports balanced blood sugar, immune health, better fullness, and stronger bones, making it a key part of overall wellness. This is not about eating more for the sake of it, but about eating wisely with grace and patience along the way.
Whether you’re trying to support your metabolism, preserve muscle, or build a stronger foundation for long-term health, this episode offers warm, practical encouragement to help you grow stronger one meal at a time.

Are you struggling with unpredictable hunger or skipping breakfast because you don’t feel
hungry? In this episode, we explore why balancing your hunger signals is crucial for hormonal
health, muscle preservation, and overall wellness. Skipping breakfast can throw your cortisol
levels off balance, especially for middle-aged women, leading to fat storage, poor metabolism,
and brain fog. We’ll share why protein-rich breakfasts paired with gentle carbs can stabilize
your hormones, improve blood sugar regulation, and set you up for better meals all day long.
You’ll also learn how common "dumb meals," like pasta without enough protein or traditional Mac
and cheese, can cause blood sugar spikes, shakes, and nausea. Discover smart meal swaps using
protein-enriched pastas and a healthier take on mac and cheese that includes cottage cheese and
nutritional yeast. We touch on the importance of strength training to maintain muscle and
appetite and offer compassionate advice for those facing complex hunger issues. Whether you’re
new or experienced with managing hunger and hormones, these practical tips will help you create
lasting, balanced eating habits.

In this insightful conversation, we explore why hunger feels different for everyone and why waiting until you’re starving might signal underlying metabolic issues or muscle loss rather than a healthy appetite. Consistently fueling your body with protein-rich meals every 3 to 4 hours is key to preserving lean muscle, a vital element for metabolism, longevity and overall health as we age. Pearl and Serene emphasize that strength training complements this practice by enhancing hunger cues and motivating better food choices.
They address challenges such as minimal appetite due to lost muscle, confusing hunger with fear from past dieting experiences, and physical symptoms like shakiness or nausea from prolonged fasting. The discussion highlights the importance of balanced meal timing, sufficient proteinintake from whole foods, and regular exercise to avoid metabolic disruption and prevent eating out of anxiety rather than true hunger.
Protein’s role goes beyond satiety-it supports daily tissue repair, skin and hair health, and brain function. While supplements can help occasionally, whole food protein meals are recommended to sustain nourishment.
Personal preferences and lifestyles shape the best approach, but the overall message encourages mindful eating, consistent nutrition, and movementas the foundation of healthy hunger and metabolism.

I listened to.this poddy while getting ready Christmas morning. God already started a gratefulness theme in my life this year but this episode extended my knowledge encouraging me to dig deeper, be more grateful and expect more from this way of living. It has been the best thm poddy I've listened to.
love this podcast, don't know why the most recent ones aren't in here... guess I'm gonna have to find a new podcast player!
I had to learn to be ok and happy with where I was (even though I was unhealthy). I had to learn that I was not a horrible person because I was over weight. however just because I was ok and happy, doesn't mean that I did not better myself... I was just getting rid of the stress and stigma?
😭
This was just what I needed to hear today. Not just in regard to diet, but I needed a reminder about my identity in Christ. Thank you, Pearl, Serene, and Danny!
"my mango poop is better..." HILARIOUS!!!
so what can a man take that has his CDL licence? my husband says hemp stays in the blood stream for 90 days!
This was awesome.
At some point we all die. while I get the importance of positive thinking we can really be giving false hope. God didn't create us to live forever. I'd love to hear the Dr's perspective on this.
my sister and i love the poddy and so do all my freinds on thm. it encourages us greatly
