We get real today with Cameron Rogers, the queen of authenticity on all things motherhood and mental health. No topics are off limits - postpartum depression and anxiety, the “roommate” phase, therapy, sex and intimacy (spoiler alert: she’s having the best sex of her life post-baby), and the identity crisis that comes with motherhood. As three recovering perfectionists, we get into the importance of healing our ‘inner child’ in order to show up best for our children without projecting our past traumas onto them. Cameron shares how she transformed from a high strung, super competitive, fast-phased college athlete turned wall-street professional, and surrendered into the chaos of motherhood. This episode is brought to you by Auggie, the only platform for parents to find community, share recommendations, and shop vetted products. In today’s episode, we talk about taking care of ourselves as a new mom and how we’ve redefined our definition of self-care. Especially as moms, we need to commit to (not detract from) the practices that make us feel good, mentally and physically, in order to show up as the best mom for our children, in addition to the best version of ourselves. We discuss how we make time for ourselves in this new chapter, our favorite practices and rituals and how feeling good >> looking good in our new era. Instagram: @wearemorethanmomsPatreon // Resources & Guides: More than Moms Unfiltered Website + IRL communityJoin the NewsletterProduced by Peoples Media Hosted on Acast. Mom shame

Mom shame

2024-07-0422:49

Shame came on quite strongly for both of us during motherhood - we felt alone and isolated throughout various stages of pregnancy and motherhood. It’s one of those ugly emotions that eat at you, so we’re here to break it down and share our experiences with it. D opens up about the shame that came up on her breastfeeding journey and A shares about the shame she felt surrounding her birth experience. D&A chat through many other instances of shame they’ve experienced in motherhood and how as women, a lot of the expectations we’re ‘supposed’ to meet are impossible and often times conflicting. We’re supposed to be with our kids 24/7 and not have help, yet we’re also supposed to work and make money. We’re shamed if we take a solo trip with our husbands without our kids, yet also shamed if we don’t put our relationship first. Damned if we do, damned if we don’t. Instagram: @wearemorethanmomsPatreon // Resources & Guides: More than Moms Unfiltered Website + IRL communityJoin the NewsletterProduced by Peoples Media Hosted on Acast. There are so many “milestones” for our children that are tracked since the day they’re born. Not just from our doctors, but it seems to be the first question most people ask when asking about your child. In this episode, we dive into the emotional component and get real about the shame, guilt and judgement that can arise if our children don’t hit milestones “on time.” We may wonder if our children are behind or blame ourselves for not “doing enough.” D shares openly about her son’s walking status and how our emotions toward milestones are in fact a huge mirror into our past childhood experiences. We chat through what we can do to heal our inner child and remove the shame we attach to it. Our children will forever be hitting milestones, I mean does it ever end? We have to find ways to protect our peace. This is a must listen for any parent going through it. Instagram: @wearemorethanmomsPatreon // Resources & Guides: More than Moms Unfiltered Website + IRL communityJoin the NewsletterProduced by Peoples Media Hosted on Acast. Megan Roup is a celebrity trainer, founder of The Sculpt Society and most importantly, an incredible and inspiring mom of two. We talk all things identity and chat through the process of re-learning what it means to show up authentically postpartum, working-mom guilt and handling “hustle culture” when you enter motherhood. Megan talks overwhelm and boundaries, while also reminding herself every phase is temporary. We discuss body image, healing unhealthy relationships to food and the mindf*** of body dysmorphia during pregnancy and postpartum. Last but not least, we discuss all things pelvic floor (PSA - it is not normal to pee in your pants postpartum, hear why). Overall, this episode is raw, real and a glimpse into the real rollercoaster ride and balancing act of motherhood. This episode is brought to you by:Sorette: one-stop shop filled with carefully vetted products for every stage of your motherhood journey. One of our most requested topics - relationships. With the new responsibility of a child, our relationship dynamic changes - duh, we just don’t think we realized how extreme the change would be. We speak candidly about falling into defined roles, co-existing / co-parenting vs spending quality time together, the importance of clear communication, intentionality with our time, and how we keep our romantic relationship from turning into a business relationship - a work in progress for us. Is ‘balance” even achievable? Does resentment of carrying the mental load sometimes get in the way of connection? How do we go about prioritizing our partner and not taking our relationship for granted? Tune in to her more…we’ll definitely need a part two.Instagram: @wearemorethanmomsPatreon // Resources & Guides: More than Moms Unfiltered Website + IRL communityJoin the NewsletterProduced by Peoples Media Hosted on Acast. Tune in while D&A catch up in real-time after Dale’s babymoon. We chat about all the pieces that need to fall into place in order to take a trip, toddler separation anxiety and the new phases our children are in. Annabel and Dale share their recent experiences listening to their mom intuition when it comes to doctor visits and being an advocate for their kids. Dale shares a recap of this pregnancy vs her first, as well as some big news about her nanny…she’s on the hunt again! Instagram: @wearemorethanmomsPatreon // Resources & Guides: More than Moms Unfiltered Website + IRL communityJoin the NewsletterProduced by Peoples Media Hosted on Acast. Today’s episode is all about routines. We’re big fans of routines as they keep us sane, but getting on a routine that works well for your family, be it: sleeping, eating, napping, etc is hard. We chat through the first year of schedule and share our day-to-day routines, including our morning and night time routine. We speak about sleep training, starting solids, meal planning and how everything feels daunting the first time around. We chat about how we block out the noise and do what’s best for our families, go at our own pace and do what feels comfortable to us. Instagram: @wearemorethanmomsPatreon // Resources & Guides: More than Moms Unfiltered Website + IRL communityJoin the NewsletterProduced by Peoples Media Hosted on Acast. Let’s chat: identity. Yes we are first and foremost moms, but we’re also so much more than that. Regardless of if you’re a working mom or a stay at home mom, we’re all innately multifaceted as humans, we’re sisters and daughters, friends and partners…the list goes on. In this episode, D&A chat about their previous identities, and how they’ve shifted, how motherhood has forced them to take inventory of their ‘roles’ and make adjustments to ensure alignment. They discuss identity crisis, questioning their purpose, uncovering so much about themselves after becoming a mom, and realizing that it’s okay to have conflicting desires - wanting to have a careers, yet also wanting to spend all day with your kids. Wanting to have alone time, but feel guilty taking it. Wanting to have an active social life, but not want to leave the house. All these different expressions can be true at the same time - the shame and guilt that comes with these desires is societal, not our own. Instagram: @wearemorethanmomsPatreon // Resources & Guides: More than Moms Unfiltered Website + IRL communityJoin the NewsletterProduced by Peoples Media Hosted on Acast. In todays episode, D&A take their instagram series of ‘do I need this’ to the pod. They spill the tea on the most asked about baby products: if they’re worth the money, or if they’re worth skipping. They touch on everything from bouncers vs swings, strollers (is the Doona worth it?), baby monitors, pumps and everything in between. Instagram: @wearemorethanmomsPatreon // Resources & Guides: More than Moms Unfiltered Website + IRL communityJoin the NewsletterProduced by Peoples Media Hosted on Acast. Comparison is innately part of us as and let’s be honest, this construct feels intensified during motherhood. From body image to baby milestones, preschool admissions and so much more, the comparison and fear of ‘falling behind’ is real. How do we ground ourselves? How do we tune inwards and learn to make decisions based on our own intuition? We explore how our ego meddles with our parenting decision and why it’s important to pause, take inventory and sometimes give ourselves a reality check. This episode is brought to you by Aura - beautiful digital picture frames and the perfect Mother’s Day Gift! In today’s episode, D&A chat all things boundaries and our experience with this construct starting in pregnancy and into motherhood. From visitors and family, to work and friendships, boundaries have become integral to keeping our sanity. As moms, time is our biggest commodity, and without boundaries, we’ve found ourselves feeling anxious and spread too thin, especially as recovering people pleasers. We don’t have all the answers, but we do shed light on how boundaries play a role in our lives, as well as discuss some of our personal favorites. This episode is bought to you by Aura - beautiful digital picture frames. Body image will always be one of our most requested topics. Dale and Annabel speak about their relationship with body image during pregnancy and postpartum: their journeys, their triggers, their struggles with resistance and their path to acceptance and gratitude. They discuss the toxicity of comparing themselves to their prior (non-mom) self, the mind fuck of ‘bounce back culture’ and trying to fit into your old jeans, as well as the strategies that helped them come out of this journey with a stronger relationship with their bodies. This episode is brought to you by Motorola Nursery and their incredible PIP1610 Baby Monitor.
