This episode was recorded Tuesday, August 19th — just ahead of the Marco Rossi signing. Carts and King head over to Bill Guerin’s home to dive into all the hot-button topics for the upcoming season. From new dress codes to load management, Billy G isn’t holding back with his takes. The Wild may be running it back this year, but his expectations remain sky-high as the young bucks look to make their mark. Stay tuned for our special State Fair show dropping this Friday!
The star of countless Minnesota Wild content pieces over the years, the pride of South St. Paul, Mr. Alex Stalock joins the podcast this week to talk central division rankings, goalie goals, mid-game snacks, his regrets about not starting a pizza blog before Dave Portnoy, and more. Carts is wrapping up sober October, while King tries to reconnect mind and body, for a Zen like show as the Wild wrap up this major road trip to kick off the season.
The living legend, Marc-André Fleury, stops by the pod. The guys break down Kirill’s Gjallahorn debut at the Vikings game, and discuss a Wild team trending toward the top of the Central.
Carts is on the road with the team, and the guys visit with Matt Boldy from his Montreal hotel covering a wide range of topics including nicknames, apartment décor, and the rookie party.
Carts and King discuss the good, bad, and ugly from the Wild’s 0-3 start. Topics include Moose overcoming his fear of seaweed, goaltending woes, and Hartman finding his inner greaser.
Carts and King sit down with Billy G. for a season preview, make a few bold predictions, and discuss the new Wild headshots from media day.
The Wild are off to a sterling 4-0 start in the preseason, the guys chat with “Dewey 1” (Brandon Duhaime) and discuss revamped special teams, kick ball, and Cart’s worst dental week ever.
NHL vet Ryan Carter and hockey hair team creator John King make their big-league debut as the official podcast of the Wild. The guys discuss the top performances at the Wild golf tourney and forward Adam Beckman stops by for a chat.
The Minnesota Wild are kicking off the season with their first long road trip, and they head into Madison Square Garden tonight with high hopes.  Ryan Carter and John King bring you another installment of your favorite hockey podcast. While King is rocking his new shirt from the Lainey Wilson show the other night, Carts gives flowers to Jesper Wallstedt, the guys discuss Daniel Yurov's recent contributions, and King's love of Dallas.  Stick around for some fun with another 25th anniversary trivia segment, and even a college football check-in for the guys to discuss coaching, and PJ Fleck's recent jump for joy.
Minnesota Wild drop their home opener against the Columbus Blue Jackets, but it has been a hot start for Matt Boldy and dolla dolla bill Kirill Kaprizov. Ryan Carter and John King breakdown the first couple games of the season, talk about the home opener, and shut down the nonsense from the critical Minnesota fanbase. If the glass is half full, do as this pod preaches, and break the mold of negative perspectives. The hosts have some fun with another round of 25th anniversary trivia, and an 11-time Stanley Cup Champion, and former Minnesota Wild Head Coach, Jacques Lemaire joins us for a walk down memory lane. We're just getting warmed up, and have a long season ahead, so lace up, foil up, and listen up to one of the 100 greatest hockey players in the history of the NHL.
Wild radio play by play Joe O'Donnell stops by the pod for another season opening edition of BOLD PREDICTIONS. Carts and King keep the banter light, the accusations fresh and the competition fierce as they outline their predictions for what is sure to be an exciting season. Kirill Kaprizov signed his deal, GusBus signed his deal, but now who is buying dinner at Billy's Sushi? Strap in for a long one, because after all the fun and games, a first time guest of the pod, Vladimir Tarasenko stops by for some amazing conversation. Hear what he has to say about life, winning Cups, and what he likes on his chicken, just don't ask him about the science behind kick points. If you make it to the end of this pod, you can do anything!
Buckle up for an EGGcelent show this week. Former Wild goaltender turned "hobby farmer" Alex Stalock stepped out of the chicken coop and into the pod studio for some fun banter about the Ryder Cup, some preseason hockey, and his love of Jelly Roll. Carter and King share some laughs about the trends on the internet, and conclude that sometimes they'd rather not make sense of things. Did you know farm fresh eggs can sit on the counter for weeks and still be good to eat? Don't take nutritional or food safety tips from a hockey podcast...or you may end up with blue egg shell on your face.
Your favorite Minnesota Wild podcast is back for a new season with Ryan Carter and John King! While Huss the producer might still be in preseason form, the true talents are ready for puck drop, but there seems to be one thing on their minds right now. Join Wild on 7th as Carts and King break down their takes on the Kaprizov negotiation, how the first preseason game went in Winnipeg, and what to look forward to before the regular season starts. Wild Assistant General Manager, and Team USA Director of Player Development, Chris Kelleher joins as a first time guest, with some great insight on scouting, and how to effectively disarm a dachshund. It's hockey season again, and Trenny-thing is possible.
Carts and King Wild OFF 7th to the Minnesota State Fair! From deep-fried favorites to sweet treats, they break down all the foods they tried before diving into the latest Wild news — including Marco Rossi’s signing and a look back at Bill Guerin’s one-of-a-kind memorabilia. Special guests Zeev Buium and Lou Nanne join the show to talk about the importance of player signatures and the the current state of USA hockey in the international game. It’s a packed episode you won’t want to miss!
Carts and King swing by the TRIA studio for a marathon summer vibe check in the State of Hockey.  The guys talk about their summer plans so far, the never ending trolling feed from the Stanley Cup Champions, the NHL Draft, shaking up free agency, and obviously the vibe check since some major Wild pieces are currently without signed deals.  Can King get any sleep when the kids are out for the night?  I think he'll feel much better when Rossi and Kaprizov "make it home safely," and he can relax.  Hope you can enjoy a wonderful summer pod to hold you over until the Minnesota State Fair.  Details to be announced in the coming weeks.
"It Felt Different." This was a line that we've heard a lot lately, and hopefully you have also felt this different feeling. Bill Guerin joins the pod to help put a bow on the season, and in classic Billy fashion, he did just that. How else might one wrap a HARD season, but with a quick screening of the cinematic genius that is Strange Brew! Billy talks about his feelings while watching the Stanley Cup Playoffs, how this season felt different, how proud he is of the team for continually battling, and how he is going into the biggest summer of his tenure with the Minnesota Wild. Can we crack the mold of Minnesota sports culture, shift expectations, and build a real winning attitude? We are getting there one podcast at a time. Massive thank you to the Wild on 7th fans who’ve rocked with us all year. Stay tuned for updates, and subscribe to all of our channels so you don't miss anything in the off season.
Ryan Carter and John King are joined by the voice of Wild Radio, Joe O'Donnell to break down game 6. The Minnesota Wild have been beaten by the Vegas Golden Knights in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, but the reality is, this season felt different. Not only did the team battle through adversity through the entire season and seemed to maintain, if not excel in areas without huge pieces of their team missing, but they entered the playoffs and carried themselves with a bit more experience than we are used to seeing. Give it a listen, and head into the off season with more experience than you had last year, and get ready, because next fall will be here faster than you think.  A season finale will drop next week.
After further review, we'd rather not have any more reviews, but the truth is, we still have a game 6. Ryan Carter hot off the team plane from Vegas, burns into the studio to catch up with John King, and our playoff staple Wild Radio Joe O'Donnell joins us for a quick breakdown of game 5, and then all eyes on game 6. Much like the narrative of the last few podcasts, the guys really lean into the fact that the past is the past, even if we're talking about last night. The series is coming back to the State of Hockey, and Wild Joe Radio has a vision. We might have teased the bingo card for these shows, but this is next level. Listen up, break the mold, and change the narrative. Boldy's dog was not kicked...it's a figure of speech folks, but let's hope he still plays like it was.
No Sunday scaries here on the Game 4 Recap! Ryan Carter and John King are joined by Wild Radio host Joe O'Donnell for a recap of Round 1 Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The guys break down the playoff narratives, talk about having the expectation to win, how the Minnesota fan base doesn't know what that means yet, and how WE ALL NEED TO BREAK THE MOLD. They also lean into the truths that are all right in front of us, that history doesn't matter in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, that Marcus Foligno deletes people, that Trenin is stepping up big, Decausemaker is crushing the anthems, and that we need to be done with the Minnesota sports mentality. These guys are going to prove it.
Xcel Energy Center was absolutely rocking last night, in part kickstarted by Lake City royalty, Minnesota Frost Superstar, and recent World Champion, Taylor Heise with a strong "Let's Play Hockey" call. King and Carts are back in studio at TRIA Rink breaking down game 3 alongside Wild Radio host Joe O'Donnell, and are joined late in the show by Taylor. They all share amazing insight on playoff mentality, goaltending, momentum, belief and more. Lot's of hockey left to be played, and a slightly longer than average pod for your enjoyment, because you deserve it. You deserve to feel this way, to believe, and to head into the weekend with a focus and mindset that will help carry the Wild back to the desert
