Ever since Judith’s lifelong best friend, Claire Sterback, inherited a house from a biological family she never knew, things have begun to change. Claire has begun to change. It isn’t just that the house is full of cryptic notebooks, ominous scribblings on the wall, and has a basement that is colder than it should be. It isn’t just that Claire abruptly up and left her live-in boyfriend and is now being stalked by a psychopathic realtor. Claire is… off. As she gets closer to a secret at the heart of the old house in the Toronto neighbourhood of Parkdale, she is also getting closer to losing herself. After Claire goes missing - with the help of co-worker-turned-friend-Owen - Judith vies to track her down, even if it means diving into a history that may have been better left untouched.

And as she gets closer to the secret at the heart of the old house in the Toronto neighborhood of Parkdale, she begins to lose herself in it. After Claire goes missing, her best friends begin sifting through the recordings of their unedited podcast attempt, Yes! In My Backyard, to see if there’s any clues as to what happened. But what they find is something better left untouched. Parkdale Haunt is about friendship and identity, trauma, cults, demons, and, most frighteningly, the Toronto real estate market.

Judith Antoni’s friend Claire has gone missing. Well, she’s alive, but she’s taken off and no one can track her down. Judith enlists the help of her friend Owen to start digging through the recordings made when Claire took possession of a house in Parkdale and things started to get… kind of weird.

Judith and Claire start working on the house, which comes with some unexpected issues, such as the endlessly creepy basement or the unsettling writing on the walls. They’re also presented with a difficult choice of which is worse: your ex showing up unannounced or 100 house centipedes in your sink?

What’s that in the basement? Is it a ghost? A demon? A very angry raccoon? Possibly all three? Claire and Judith investigate the downstairs finally and find that it is truly creepy in more ways than they would’ve expected. The recordings are getting freakier though, and one new one starts to shed a little light on what might have precipitated the changes happening to Claire.

Judith is displaced from her apartment and has to crash in Claire’s guestroom. It’s going ok, aside from the sleepwalking. And the sleeptalking. I can't believe Owen and Jude never got together, I definitely thought that's where everything was heading.
