Take a moment to check in,
And let yourself find calm,
So, just breathe in peace,
And let the tension be gone.
PAUSE
It’s no secret that we all,
Sometimes struggle with a substance.
We try to stay away,
And yet, it feels like an injustice.
PAUSE
And sometimes that one substance,
Such as cigarettes, food, or booze,
Can overtake our lives,
And make us feel like fools.
PAUSE
So, breathe in deep,
And open up,
To the truth inside of you.
Accepting the issue
Is the first step,
To healing through and through.
PAUSE
And, as you breathe,
Remember this:
No substance has control.
It’s you who is the shepherd
Of your beautiful soul.
PAUSE
So, take a minute and forgive–
Let go of criticizing yourself.
Regardless of your addiction,
This will help restore your mental health.
For the more we beat ourselves up,
The harder it is to stop,
That addicting substance rears its head,
And keeps us on the run.
PAUSE
So, take back your power,
And give yourself a voice.
And if you decide to use the substance,
Stay strong and make it your choice.
PAUSE
And, remember now,Â
You’re not a failure,
But a fragile, beautiful being,
Who is perfectly imperfect,
And knowing that,
Is truly freeing.

Hey, it’s Katie and I’m here for a mid-month check in. How are you? How’s your month coming along? How’s your mental health?Â
We’re well into Mental Health Awareness Month and I hope you’ve really been enjoying all the bonus and guest meditations we’ve been providing across the network. The team and I have been working hard to make sure you have a wide variety of meditations and voices to support you!Â
I’m sharing honestly today about why we need to “slow down to speed up” and what that’s actually looked like for me this month (single mommying with hubs out of town, end of school extra activities and moving!). It ain’t been pretty y'all.Â
But I’m sharing because we all have these heavy seasons and I’ll walk you through what worked for me to lighten the load and helped me slow down, all in the name of preserving my mental health.Â
I also share a poem/meditation I wrote recently called “A Million Little Reasons” that I hope really speaks to your heart.Â

Gather your thoughts,
and let them fall away,
leaving you with a
peaceful mind
and heart.
PAUSE
Breathe,
and let
your mind
stay soft
and clear.
PAUSE
Sometimes,
we feel bad about ourselves.
worse than makes sense
to our rational mind.
The feelings we haveÂ
are intense and moreÂ
than we can understand.
When that happens,
we’re dealing with shame.
PAUSE
So, scan your body.
and ask yourself,
Are there any parts
of my bodyÂ
that I feel ashamed of?
If the answer is “yes,”
imagine putting a little, red heart
on that body part,
and blowing it a kiss of love.
PAUSE
Now, scan your mind,
that beautiful brain of yours.
and if you come acrossÂ
any thoughts that bring shame,
put a loving heart sticker on them,
and blow them a kiss.
PAUSE
Now, take a minute,
and scan your heart
or any hurts, deep hurts.
And if you find some,
put a red, loving heart sticker
on them,
and blow them a kiss.
PAUSE
Breathe now.
Just breathe.
And imagine
Those painful thoughts
and hurts
being pulled out of you
and formingÂ
a dandelion–
a fluffy, white dandelion.
PAUSE
Now, blow the dandelion.
Blow away the shame.
Let it disappear into the sky.
And remember,
the antidote to shame
is love.
So, keep yourÂ
little, red heart stickers
with you every day, always,
and heal your shame.

Take a slow, filling breath,
Let it sink in deep.
And, allow yourself to focus,
letting the tension release.
PAUSE
Stay with those feelings,
As they dissipate your stress,
And leave you open and aware
Of what you want to express.
PAUSE
There are times in life,
When our grief is like a slide,
It sends mood downward,
And it feels like an endless ride.
PAUSE
It opens a pit in your core,
With pain you want to kill.
You try everything to suppress it,
But the pain comes back still.
PAUSE
Grief is a feelingÂ
That finds you when you hide,
Then sends you spiraling,
Farther down the slide.
PAUSE
So, breathe very deep.
Go ahead and scream and cry.
Let out all the pain
That keeps lurking inside.
PAUSE
For it will pause eventually,
And give you peace,
And you’ll feel a bit better,
When you let these emotions release.
PAUSE
So, when you’re on the grief slide,
Whizzing down fast,
Imagine grabbing hold of the sides,
Until the feelings pass.
Then visualize, if you can,
Inching back up the slide,
Getting to the top,
Where you started the ride.
And give yourself a break,
Or maybe a pat on the back,
No matter where you climb to,
You’ve made progress–that’s a fact.
PAUSE
And the next time your grief,
Pries open your core,
And you’re compelled to fill it
With something more.
Imagine your hands,
Holding onto each side,
And pushing yourself back up
To the top of the slide.
PAUSE
Then breathe.
And breathe.
And breathe.
PAUSE
Just give yourself space and know,
This how you handle your grief,
And that in time, it will pass,
And bring you relief.

And release the remains of the day.
The littles are finally sleeping,
It’s your turn to exhale it away.

With all that’s left to do.

Breathe,
and let the breath
find all the tension
in your body.
Let your float through
the tension,Â
relaxing you.
PAUSE
Keep breathing deeply
and relaxing,
becoming aware
of the stress and tension
easing in your body.
PAUSE
Take a deep breath,
and let your mind acknowledge
that there are times
when you feel anger.
It’s okay.
PAUSE
So, take a moment,
and visualize the color red.
As you see the color,
breathe.
Breathe and become aware
of the color red in you.
Is it in your core?
Your abdomen?
Your head?
Or, somewhere else?
PAUSE
Now, give yourself a moment,
and acknowledge how
those parts of your body feel.
Do they hurt?
Are they tense?
Do they feel numb?
Allow yourself permission
to observe without judgment.
PAUSE
Now, take a deep breath,
and let yourself take in
the idea of red as anger.
Yes, anger can mean mad,
and that can affect
your body, mind, and soul.
Anger can also mean threatened,
and that can affect
your body, mind, and soul.
Anger can mean inflamed,
and can affect your,
your body, mind, and soul.
PAUSE
Now, pause for a minute,
And imagine a glass pitcher
Filled with crystalline water.
Pure, clear, healing water.
Now, imagine that water
pouring over and
bathing the redness.
Cooling it.
Soothing it.
Letting it go.
PAUSE
Now, breathe.
Breathe,
And feel the relaxation and peace
That the cool water brings.
And, as you do,Â
Remember,
anger is an important emotion.
It’s a signal
that you may want to acknowledge
in a healthy way.
It’s also an emotion
you have the power
to control.
Just remember your cool, calming water.

Give yourself permission
To just let go for a few minutes–
To relax and regroup–
To just unwind.
PAUSE
Breathe, and let any distracting thoughts,
Evaporate into the air,Â
Leaving you open and tranquil,
And free from cares.
PAUSE
Anxiety is that emotion
That can throw you off your game.
It’s like a rodeo horse,
That you hold onto,
But that finally kicks you off.
PAUSE
It can knit knot after knot
In your core,
Flush you with heat,
Send your heart racing,
And even make you
Feel sick to your stomach.
PAUSE
So, breathe.
Breathe deep into your core.
Lift your arms,
And expand your chest,
So more calming, relaxing air,
Fills your being.

Now, imagine, if you can,
Visualizing that anxiety.
What color is it?
Does it have a human image,
Or something else.
Whatever form it takes,
Visualize it in front of you.

Take a deep breath,
And look straight at your anxiety.
And, as you do,
Hear the words,
“I accept you”Â
Whispered in your ear.
Let the words repeat.
Then breathe again.
PAUSE
Now, look again at your anxiety.
Has it changed any?
And, as you look at your anxiety,
Hear the words,
“I love myself with or without you,”Â
Whispered in your ear.
Let the words repeat.
Then breathe again.

Now, look again at your anxiety.
Has it changed any?
And, as you look at your anxiety,
Hear the words,
“I trust the Universe to work things out,”Â
Whispered in your ear.
Let the words repeat.
Then breathe again.

Now, breathe in and out,
Until your core is light,
And filled with relaxing air.
And, as you start your day,
Remember this to deal
with your anxiety:
I breathe.
I accept.
I love.
I trust.
They will be with you,
any time you need them.

Let your body ease into
a deep, comfortable relaxation.
Allow yourself to just sit with it.
PAUSE
Now, take a deep breath.
and, as you breathe,
feel the relaxation,
unfold throughout you.
Just enjoy the feeling.

As you go through life,Â
there are times
when you just feel down.
It happens to everyone.
PAUSE
So, take a moment,
and visualize
one of those times
like you were a
distant observer.
Simply observe.
Avoid judging yourself.

As you observe this time,
in your life,
thoughts may arise.
Stay centered,
and again, just acknowledge them
and avoid judgment.

Now, take a deep breath,
and let yourself beÂ
bathed in gratitude.
Gratitude for your strength.
Gratitude for your healing.
Gratitude for where
you are now,
or for the path you're following.
Hold onto the gratitude.

And allow yourself to feel your body.

be healed by gratitude.
How does it feel whenÂ
bathed inÂ
and healed with gratitude?
Capture a snapshotÂ
of that feeling
in your body,
and hold onto it.

open some mental and emotional space
for self-compassion.
Let yourself express some
love and compassion to you!
And, as you feel that love and compassion,
give thanks for them,
for they are yours
anytime you need them,

Take a deep breath,
and in the back of your mind,
hear a gentle drum beating softly.
PAUSE
As you listen to the drum,
let it lull you into relaxation.
let it calm you.
let it find your internal rhythm,
and align with it.

And, now imagine as the drum beats,
a pearl white buffalo appears in the distance.
It’s misty, ethereal, and magical in its beauty.

Take a deep breath,
and as you exhale,
see if you can visualize the buffalo
transforming into a woman.
A woman with dark hair and eyes,
and draped in white buffalo robes.
PAUSE
When she approaches you,
she reaches out and touches your forehead.
As her fingers alight on you,
visions of ancestorsÂ
sweep through your mind.
in a single second,
visions of the most important women
in your life now and before,
are there with you.

Draw in a deep breath of gratitude
as the White Buffalo Calf Woman
connects your past to your present.

The White Buffalo Calf Woman
begins to fade into the distance.
But before she goes,
she gifts you with an ethereal pipe,
a sacred pipe of peace and unity.

And, as she disappears into the mist,
you hold the ethereal pipe and pray,
knowing that forever more,

and all things are connected to you.

Take a moment to connect to yourself,
to feel the seen and unseen parts of you.
to know your consciousness
and simultaneous awareness
of past, present, and future.

And let your breath
bring life to allÂ
parts of you being.

and as you do,
imagine being in the presence
of Mother Mary.

As you draw close,
her aura envelopes you
with pure, unconditional love,
the love of a Universal Mother.

Take a momentÂ
and bask in the love.
Feel her unbounded compassion
for you. For all.
Feel her nurturing your soul.
Feel her healing embrace of you.
Let it infuse you.

As she enfolds you in her essence,
your own Inner Mother is awakened.
That part of you loves you.
That part of you that takes care of you.
That part of you that sometimes,
you ignore.
With Mother Mary’s touch,
it is alive and flowing through you.

So, take a moment and breathe deeply,
and as you do,
let a prayer come to you,
a prayer of gratitude for your Inner mother.
Thank Mother Mary.
Thank your Inner Mother.

And, as your awareness returns to the now,
Remember that the essence of Mother Mary
Is all around and in you.
You are blessed with your own Inner Mother,

settling in your core,
and radiating outward.

As you continue breathing,
allow yourself to see an image
of a beautiful woman
with flowing white robes.
She is seated on a pink lotus,
with an elephant by her side,Â
and you notice a jar of pure water
in one hand,Â
and in the other,
the single branch
of a willow tree.

Her goddess energy looms in the air.
Let yourself connect with it.
Her serenity embraces you.
Let yourself feel that serenity.
Her mercy touches you.
Let yourself feel that mercy.

Without saying a word,
she tells youÂ
she is Kwan Yin.

After a moment,
Kwan Yin reaches out
with her graceful hand and
touches your heart
with the willow branch.
A flash of openness
sweeps through you,
And like the willow branch,
You have been flexible.
In life, you have bent,
and you have not broken,
no matter how hard the challenge.

knowing that this goddess

Allow your mind to quiet
and still the voice in your head.
then let your body relax
Sink deeply into your bed.
LONG PAUSE
Let the stillness take over
as you go deep inside,
with tension dissolving
and peace as your guide.
LONG PAUSE
Follow the peace as it spreads
from head to toe,
relaxing your shoulders and your back,
your body as a whole.
LONG PAUSE
Now, envision a rosebud,
straight and tall,
waiting to blossom
with its red velvet petals.Â
PAUSE
The rosebud travels
deep to your inner garden;
it reaches the heart
where it wants to get started.
PAUSE
Slowly, the petals peek out,
just a little at first,
until the rose opens
with a splendid burst.
PAUSE
Love cascades in your heart,
when the rose bursts forth.
You can feel it growing in your body
all the way through your core.
PAUSE
You notice your skin
takes on the fragrance of rose,
and the feeling of love
supports your repose.
PAUSE
And, intuitively, you know
that if you touch someone’s hand
you’ll transfer the love
and feel it expand.
PAUSE
And then before your eyes,
a purple aster blooms
and journeys to your heart
bringing faith and wisdom.
PAUSE
And from the aster’s center
wisdom and faith are released,
and a sense of trusting yourself more
comes on with some peace.
PAUSE
So, take a few minutes
and dive deeply inward,
you hear “I trust myself”
coming to you as a whisper.
PAUSE
Now, recognize Â
the flowers of love and faith,
and notice a daffodil appearsÂ
gifting you with more traits.
PAUSE
Yellow daffodils shine light
on what is the truth.
They also bring forgiveness
which can be freeing to you.
PAUSE
So the daffodil lights up the heart
with what is honest and real
and cozies up to the rose and aster
creating an inner garden you feel.
PAUSE
So in a moment,
the truth of your life becomes clear,
and with love, you forgive mistakes
and let go with no fear.
PAUSE
Now, white edelweiss joins in,
filling up some heart spaces;Â
it’s a flower of courageÂ
and not found in many places.
PAUSE
As it blooms, you know
you’ve been a tower of courage,
and you thank the edelweiss
and let go of any worry.
PAUSE
You pause for a moment,
gazing at the garden of your heart
feeling the power of the flowers
and what they impart.
PAUSE
Then, a marigold appears
with orange petals in layers
sparking creativity in you
that you want to share.
PAUSE
In your mind’s eye,
there’s a painting you paint,
the colors swirl together
and ignite your creativityÂ
once again.
PAUSE
Then a rose in a yellowÂ
that blossoms quite fair
Fills your heart with joy,
and then some to spare.

And it’s followed by a lily
with peace in its aura
bestowing its calm
which, of course, you adore.

Now, your heart is healing
with a rich flower bouquet
that shares its gifts
to ensureÂ
you’re more than okay.

And with gratitude abounding,

you know it’s there blossoming

Breathe in and let yourself
deeply relax.
Feel yourselfÂ
letting go of stress,
letting go of tension,
and just completely relaxing.
PAUSE
Now, see if you can imagine,
walking along the beach,
in the pre-dawn hours,
with the moon, Mother Luna,
still shining her light
on the waves and sand.
PAUSE
And, as you walk along the shore,
you feel a sense of protection
coming from the moon,
as she lights your way.
PAUSE
You continue on your walk,
and with each step,
you feel more connected
to your emotions.
What are you feeling?
Give yourself permission
to feel the emotions,
knowing that Mother Luna
will protect you.

Now, take a deep breath,
and continue walkingÂ
along the shore.

After a moment,
you feel your third eye opening,
and the light of the moon
entering it.
As the moonlight enters,
visions come to you,
intuitive visions

Center yourself,Â
breathing in deep,
purifying air,
air that opens
and cleanses you.
PAUSE
Keep breathing,
and let your breath
lift you high up
to that place
where creativity and imagination,
spirituality and love
all come together.
PAUSE
And while in this place,
see if you can imagine,
sitting on a bench,
with a diminutive woman
seated next to you–
a woman dressed humbly
with a simple blue and white
head covering a gown.
PAUSE
She turns to you,
looking you in the eyes,
and simply says, “Listen.”
Then, she is silent.
PAUSE
For many moments,
you and the nun
listen to the silence,
the pure, peaceful silence.
And it feels comfortable.
PAUSE
After a moment,
the nun turns toward you.
She reaches out
and takes your hands in hers,
then speaks.
“All children deserve to be cared for.”
“All children deserve to be loved.”
“All children deserve compassion.”
PAUSE
Another long pause ensues,
and then the nun rises from the bench
and begins walking away.
You take a deep breath,
and as you do,
she turns back to you.
“You, Child, deserve to be cared for.
You, Child, deserve to be loved.
You, Child, deserve compassion.
Give those to yourself.”
Then, she is gone.
PAUSE
You draw in another deep breath,
feeling the essence of her words,
touching you from the inside.
You hold onto her words.
PAUSE
And as this day,
and all days going forward begin,
you say those words to yourself,
reminding yourself that
you are a ChildÂ
who is worthy of all.

Breathe,
and let your shoulders sink,
your chest open up,
and your mind let go.
PAUSE
And, as you’re breathing,
see if you can imagine,
finding yourselfÂ
in the heart of a forest–
a lush, green forest,
filled with amazingÂ
sights, sounds, and smells.
PAUSE
You see the canopyÂ
of tall trees above you.
You hear the songs of birds,
and the rustle of leaves,
as rabbits and squirrels scurry.
And you smell the woody mist
of the forest.
PAUSE
Now, imagine if you can,
hearing a deep rustling noise
from a tall, proud tree,Â
And, as you gaze at the tree,
a woman appears from the trunk.
PAUSE
The woman is stunning,
with hair that flowsÂ
in blue-greens like the ocean,
and bright green leaves
trimmed in velvety green moss
draping her.
PAUSE
Now, as the woman approaches,
allow yourselfÂ
to see this woman
in all her natural beauty.
Notice trees bowing to her,
and animals of the forest
following her like a train.
PAUSE
As she draws closer,
you see the imageÂ
of the earth as her belly,
and you realize,
she is Mother Earth.
PAUSE
Mother Earth reaches out
to embrace you,
and as she wraps
her arms around you,
there is an instant
knowledge and connection
to all the natural world.Â
PAUSE
You feel the waves of the ocean
rolling in and around you.
You feel the strength of all trees
taking root in your core.
You feel the power of the mountains
bolstering you.
And, you feel the love of all that’s natural
running through you.
PAUSE
Mother Nature steps back,
and smiles at you.
And with a wave of her hand,
the mighty tree she came from
opens up and enfolds her.
And, as she fadesÂ
back into the natural world,
a part of her lives in you.
You are connectedÂ
to all that is natural,
to all that is Earth
to all born of Mother Earth.

I walk out of their room,
The littles are finally asleep.Â
My day isn’t quite over yet,
I feel a need so deep.Â
PAUSE
I push our door open,
And take a hopeful glance,
I already know what I’ll see,
Still I’m hoping there’s a chance.Â

Locking eyes with mine in need?

Take a moment,
and connect with your body.
Feel it in the present moment.
Prepare it for your meditation time.
PAUSE
Now, breathe,
and gently lift up your arms
to open your chest.
Allow yourself to feel the openness,
the flow of life through you.
PAUSE
Now, breathe in deep,
and imagine tasting something smoky.
Maybe a piece of cheese,
or a nut,
or a glass of fine wine.
Savor the taste.
A little bit of smoky flavor is good.
PAUSE
Now, give yourself a minute,
and think how it might be
if that smokiness was with you
all the time.
It might be uncomfortable after a while,
just like smoke in the air.
It might physically and mentally bother you.
PAUSE
There are times in life
where something just keeps bothering us.
It feels like it won’t let go.
And while it does this,
it takes our attention away
from where it's needed.
PAUSE
Now, draw in a deep breath,
and as you exhale,
visualize those nagging things
in your life
blowing out of you like smoke,
then dissipating.
Breathe in and out again,
as much as you need,
until you feel clear.

Hold the clear space.
Breathe easy.
PAUSE
Now, take one more deep breath,
and as you exhale,
allow yourself to acknowledge
that you have the powerÂ
to shift those things that won’t let go.
Visualize them as a smoky mist,
and just exhaleÂ
until you feel clear.
