Welcome to Getting To The Truth In This Art. This week I have the pleasure of speaking with portrait and lifestyle photographer based out of Baltimore, MD Isaiah Winters.
Isaiah is a documentary photographer and conceptual artist based in Brooklyn, NYC & Baltimore, MD.
Focus on architecture, social landscapes, and analog photography assist in giving his work a nostalgic and romantic feel. I enjoy emphasizing certain aspects or colors within my work; to highlight the effects everyday light and composition have on all of us. He's also a member of TheBmoreCreatives team - they work to connect local artists and creatives with each other, highlight local businesses, and showcase Baltimore’s art scene!
He's gravitated towards documentary photography and portraiture that tells a narrative. Currently working w/ archival and appropriated content from 20th Century.
He's spent the last few years coming to terms with my own identity, and attempting to work through questions of what it means to be a Black male in today’s society. He believes that through more representation in the visual arts and beyond, we can work to empower our next generation of Black leaders.
