My experience in Birmingham City School after desegregation in 1970 was that the white high school teachers retired or fled to the new suburban white school systems or private schools. in my school there were many black teachers, some of whom were not qualified to teach. My chemistry teacher did not have a college degree and was unable to teach chemistry. so I was not able to take physics the next year. My mother was a school secretary for years after that. She witnessed the corruption that followed as black administrators were hired, who in turn hired more incompetent teachers. The Birmingham City school system is now so bad that black parents move to the suburbs to avoid sending their children there.

nice trick by Justice court and education system. whites are often ahead of blacks in policies and it's too late when the deed is investigated.

I may not always agree with what Gladwell has to say, but he is an amazing storyteller
