Digest

This podcast recounts the fictionalized but thematically grounded story of Operation Wandering Soul, a real US military PSYOP in Vietnam (1968). A six-man team uses "Ghost Tape #10," an audio recording designed to evoke the voices of the dead, to terrorize the Viet Cong. However, their actions inadvertently unleash the *Phi Tai Hong*, vengeful spirits from Thai culture, who are angered by the disrespect shown to the dead. The tape's unsettling effects are immediately apparent, causing unease and skepticism within the team. A Thai man attempts to warn them, but is shot and killed. The team enters a nearby village, where they learn about the *Phi Tai Hong* and its connection to the tape. Throughout the night, the team experiences increasingly terrifying events, culminating in the deaths of all but one soldier, Taylor, who survives to confront the supernatural forces unleashed by their actions. The story explores the ethical implications of psychological warfare and the potential for unintended consequences when manipulating cultural beliefs and potentially supernatural forces.
