Iconic singer-songwriter Raul Malo, frontman of The Mavericks, passed away at 60 after a battle with cancer. Known for his genre-transcending music and commitment to preserving multilingual American music, Malo earned multiple Grammy, ACM, and CMA awards. He made history in 2020 with the first album to top both Latin Pop and Folk-Americana charts. Malo was also honored with the Americana Music Associations Lifetime Achievement Award and the National Music Councils American Eagle Award.
