Anger is a perfectly normal human emotion and, when dealt with appropriately doesn’t warrant a concern. We all get angry at times, even people who are very good-tempered. It is actually good to be angry for the right reason, however, the key element here is that one needs to be able to manage one’s anger and not allow it to control your life.

Life is a potpourri of happy and sad moments, relaxing and stressful situations. Complaining is often considered as an extension of being absolutely normal by many of us. It is important for us to realize that complaining affects our brains and our physical health negatively. Negative stress can also exacerbate chronic health problems, such as diabetes or heart disease. Other ailments may include increased headaches, joint pains, and even depression. One way to combat these symptoms is through learning how to stop useless complaining.
We are what we believe we are. Most of the time, we’re unaware of limiting beliefs. It’s like driving down roads with signs that you’re compelled to follow, but not knowing where you are heading to… or deciding not to move on the road at all because you fear that you cannot reach the destination. The power of self belief can take us up to summits which we have always wanted to reach.
Racing to and fro from one task to another, and one thought to another – we are only adding to stress, aggression and anxiety in our own minds. Impatience is more about our lack of self-control, than a lack of time. You can practice being more patient and being more happy.
Your home can do a lot for you to maintain good mental health. How a warm and comfortable home and domestic harmony can make or break your mental well being is often understated. Not just the walls or the furniture, but the people within those walls define home. Let us see how we can make it work for us and make our lives happier.
Depression amongst the adolescent is very common. One in eight adolescent faces this problem. One of the key barriers to getting the right treatment is acceptance of the problem itself. There is a fine line separating a subdued mood from depression and it is often missed. It is important for us to realize that if we notice any change in behaviour or a noticeable change in the adolescent’s thinking that persists for more than two weeks, take note of it and seek expert's advice.
Very often we unknowingly feed our brains with negative information, pessimistic messages and doomsday thoughts. Not realizing that this takes us down the road of constant brooding and negativity. Our brain recognizes negative signals much more acutely than positive signals. It is thus important for us to reduce negative feedback to our brain and increase positive one.
The tendency to have greater sensitivity to negative rather than positive events is called Negative Bias. This means that negative events affect our mood more than positive ones. Have you ever received feedback on a piece of work which was mostly positive except for one criticism – and that was the comment that stuck with you? That’s the negative bias in action.
Mid-life crises is not a mental disorder or strictly a mental health issue, but it is nearly universal in both men and women and starts around the age of 40. Researchers have clearly demonstrated that happiness reaches a low point at around 40 years of age, before we start recovering and rebounding. Research has also shown that some conscious changes in our habits and life can help in reducing the severity of the problem or preventing it completely.
