Description

Is it on? Is it on?? Honey, is this thing recording?! TS Madison broke the Internet with six seconds and a 22-inch weave. And she didn’t just go viral — she became part of the culture, from "RuPaul's Drag Race" to Beyoncé’s "Renaissance." Her superpower? Her voice. Her kryptonite? Doesn’t exist. Her podcast? The one they never saw coming. Each week on "Outlaws," Madison sits down with living legends and rising stars who shed their armor and own their stories — turning side-eyes into sermons, pain into punchlines, and grief into galaxies. They speak when silence is safer. They dream when told to disappear. And they know what so many are taught to fear: that when you speak your truth, you open a portal. Some episodes will crack you up. Others may crack you open. Keep the tissues nearby, just in case. "Outlaws" is proud to be part of the Outspoken Network from iHeartPodcasts, in partnership with Turtle Run Entertainment.

Margaret Cho: Wet and Woke

Margaret Cho: Wet and Woke

2026-03-1001:08:42

Five-time Grammy and Emmy nominated comedian, actress, and activist — and one of Vogue's Best Female Comedians of All Time, right alongside Joan Rivers and Gilda Radner — Margaret Cho joins TS Madison in the "Outlaws" studio for an unforgettable episode. She's fresh off being cast in "Percy Jackson" Season 2 alongside Sandra Bernhard and Kristen Schaal, starring in Greg Araki's new film "I Want Your Sex" with Olivia Wilde and Charli XCX, and touring her brand new stand-up show "CHOLIGARCHY" — where she's fighting fascism one joke at a time. Madison opens by honoring Margaret as a personal inspiration — and reveals the two already have history: a moment backstage at GLAAD where Margaret didn't need an introduction because she'd been following Madison for years. This episode gets into everything past, present, and future: Margaret unpacks happened when network executives greenlit a show based on her life and then decided she was too fat to play herself — and how Hollywood's playbook still hasn't changed.  Fast forward to today, she talks death threats, Homeland Security, and what it's like to be a loud, queer, Asian American woman with a decades-long target on her back, having built a career on not only making people laugh but also fearlessly speaking truth to power. Also: a state of the union regarding the trans community in America, Dave Chappelle, surviving abuse, comedy as a weapon, the Diddy trial, and Margaret's "wet and woke" vision for the future. In Atlanta? Catch Margaret Cho's new live show "CHOLIGARCHY" coming to you THIS WEEK on March 14th at The Buckhead Theatre. Get your tickets now! The AUNTIE is HERE!!! Willkommen, bienvenue, welcome to the one and only, multihyphenate, international sensation, MC extraordinaire, Billy Porter! Billy Porter is no stranger to shattering glass ceilings, and it took work to get there. A fateful screening of “The Wiz” plus a love for music lead him to find his calling in musical theatre, and a now critically acclaimed career from “Kinky Boots” and “Pose” to making history on London’s West End. It wasn’t always easy– Billy opens up about traumatic childhood experiences, and how those experiences shaped the man he is today.  And he’s still fighting strong! Billy talks making art and living out his dreams despite whatever roadblocks life throws his way– including a near death experience from sepsis last fall. Also: Billy and Maddie get into keeping it real vs. taking the PR route; when kikiing gets taken out of context; why artists need better labor protections; and surviving the political reality of the past 10 years.  Plus…we see you in the comments asking for longer episodes. Grammy-winning songwriter, Broadway star, producer, and the longest-running Real Housewife in franchise history — Kandi Burruss sits down with TS Madison for a deeply personal conversation about building an empire, surviving the villain edit, and coming out of the matrix.  Madison kicks things off by honoring Kandi as the first person to introduce her to mainstream media, and from there, it's all love, all real, and all business. Kandi TALKS HER SHIT like we've NEVER heard before — running down a résumé that stretches from signing with Xscape at 16, to writing "No Scrubs" for TLC, to becoming the first Black woman to win ASCAP's Songwriter of the Year award. Add in 14 straight seasons of "The Real Housewives of Atlanta," a Grammy, a Tony nomination, an Emmy nomination, winning "The Masked Singer," an adult entertainment empire (yes, she has the awards to prove it), and five Broadway productions — including the record-breaking "Othello" with Denzel Washington, currently "& Juliet," and the upcoming "Joe Turner's Come and Gone" starring Taraji P. Henson and directed by Debbie Allen. Then, the conversation goes there. Kandi opens up about her divorce from Todd Tucker, addressing the rumors, the prenup speculation, and the internet lawyers who don't even practice in Georgia. She sets the record straight — and she's not here to confirm or deny anything else. She also gets candid about what it's been like to always be cast as the villain — from middle school, to Xscape, to the Housewives reunion couch — and what it takes to keep pushing when people project their issues onto your success. Also in this episode: Would Kandi ever return to RHOA? (Not right now, honey.) Which Housewives friendships were real? (Kenya and Cynthia made the cut.) What would she ask NeNe Leakes if they sat down together? (Spoiler: "What did I do to you?") And could we see an all-Black reimagining of "Little Shop of Horrors" starring TS Madison as Audrey II? Kandi says she's interested — and we are manifesting this into existence. It's not too late to catch Kandi on Broadway, starring in "& Juliet!" at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre until March 8, 2026. This week's episode deserves a Michelin Star because, baby, these ladies are COOKING! TS Madison welcomes ballroom ICON, internet sensation, and South Philly’s very own Sexy Lexy, a.k.a. Alexis Sno, for an incredible episode of "Outlaws" that's all about Black queer excellence, survival, and motherhood.  In this episode: Lexy and Maddie talk "booster" culture, going viral, and remembering the late Cookie Tookie and their complicated sisterhood. They dive deep into Philly's ballroom scene, where "chosen family" is not just a nice phrase but a stark reality for many, the nuances of gender identity, the "transgender umbrella," what transitioning meant then vs. now, and a hot take on Ms. Caitlyn Jenner. Also: the thrill of "realness" pumps, dating as a trans woman and the life-or-death risks of disclosure and dating safety; Lexy’s role as the Overall Mother of the House of Khan, and why Lexy and Maddie are embracing their gray hair and status as mentors for the next generation. They also discuss visibility as a form of activism, Gay Mamas, ballroom vs. pageant culture, and whether or not Madison has ever tried voguing. Plus: A powerhouse pep talk from Madison to Lexy on branding, manifestation, and affirmations to turn her personal brand into a business empire, and why she should NEVER feel bad about making her money!   Can't get enough of Sexy Lexy? This week, TS Madison is sitting down with the incomparable, Academy Award-nominated actress Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor!  We get into it all: Mississippi Roots: Growing up in the South, the realities outsiders miss, her family’s Civil Rights legacy, and using her platform to help remove the Confederate emblem from the Mississippi flag. Career & Craft: From Undercover Brother to the spiritual force of Lovecraft Country. “Messy” Opinions: Aunjanue offers a perspective on a certain Oscars moment that sparked worldwide debate. 👀 Living Her Truth: Queerness, unlearning shame, and navigating sexuality outside rigid labels. A re-release of one of our most important "Outlaws" episodes. U.S. Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett finds a pocket of time between floor votes at the U.S. House of Representatives to join TS Madison for a powerful, no-nonsense conversation about the pivotal era of American History that we are living through. We are deeply proud to have Representative Crockett as part of the "Outlaws" story. We’ll be back with brand-new episodes on January 20th, 2026, but in the meantime we feel strongly that this one is worth a second listen.  We recorded this conversation on the very day our series premiere with Tina Knowles aired, before the show had even found its footing or audience. Congresswoman Crockett enthusiastically showed up anyway, and that kind of solidarity with TS Madison and her following is something we will never forget. Now, as she runs for the U.S. Senate, and as we face Year 2 of the current administration, her words of wisdom in this episode feel even more urgent and enduring. In this episode, Madison speaks candidly about her fears for democracy and for the safety of not only trans community, but also for leaders such as Rep. Crockett who continue to fearlessly advocate for the most vulnerable among us. Rep. Crockett breaks down how she handles the current President’s constant attacks on her intelligence and why he seems so fixated on her when there is so much else burning. Together, they unpack the “find out” phase the country is living through, Project 2025, and what it means to keep showing up when you are being dismissed not just by the other side, but by people who are supposed to be on yours. They also talk about the dangerous complacency of the “we survived Trump 1.0, we’ll be fine” crowd who are now eating their words; what it's like to live between D.C., Texas, and the sky; Elon Musk; and what it costs to be a Black woman in public life who refuses to shrink. Rep. Crockett reflects on the irony that the constituents in rural communities are the ones most dependent on things she fights for, like SNAP benefits, yet are often represented by politicians actively working to gut it.  As Rep. Crockett now runs for the U.S. Senate, this clear-eyed conversation beautifully exemplifies why voices like hers matter so much right now. “Outlaws” is starting 2026 out strong, with TS Madison’s dear friends, superstar power couple Da Brat-tat-tat and Kaleidoscope Hair Products CEO Jesseca “Judy” Dupart! In the spirit of Capricorn season, we get marketing 101 from Judy and what she taught TS Madison about personal branding. It was a brand deal that brought this couple together– the pair tell us how a rapper and a beauty mogul fell in love out of the public eye, from a business meeting turned date to a “Coming to America” style proposal to launching a reality TV series together. Next, Da Brat gets into her decision to keep her sexuality private during her early fame, why she felt it was an act of protection rather than hiding, and how Judy inspired her to come out publicly. And we’re rewinding even further back, as Judy breaks down her 2007 arrest and what she learned in prison.  Also: Unlearning stereotypes; why Da Brat doesn’t consider herself a Stud; fire sign/air sign romance; how “Brat Loves Judy” came to be; and navigating pregnancy on TV. Plus a sneak peak and Da Brat and Judy’s upcoming memoir, “The Way Love Goes: A Guide to Building a ‘Beaurtiful’ and Everlasting Relationship”, out next month! Pre-order now!  "Outlaws" is hosted by TS Madison, and is part of the Outspoken Network from iHeartPodcasts, co-produced by Turtle Run Entertainment. Is it on? Is it on?? Honey, is this thing recording?! TS Madison broke the Internet with six seconds and a 22-inch weave. And she didn’t just go viral — she became part of the culture, from “RuPaul's Drag Race” to Beyoncé’s “Renaissance.” Her superpower? Her voice. Her kryptonite? Doesn’t exist. Her podcast? The one they never saw coming.  Each week on “Outlaws,” Madison sits down with living legends and rising stars who shed their armor and own their stories — turning side-eyes into sermons, pain into punchlines, and grief into galaxies. They speak when silence is safer. They dream when told to disappear. And they know what so many are taught to fear: that when you speak your truth, you open a portal.Join our Patreon for exclusive content.: https://patreon.com/outlawswithtsmadisonSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
TS Madison is joined by actor, model, songwriter, music producer, trans icon, (and Miss Mary’s celebrity crush), Laith Ashley! On “Outlaws,” we want to open up a space for guests to break their identity and discuss the big issues in the LGBTQ+ community. With a background in social work for queer youth and too many “first trans man to–” labels to count (not to mention, a Taylor Swift music video appearance), Laith is the perfect guest to get into the trans experience. Laith opens up about his early experiences with gender nonconformity, messaging around not being “feminine” enough, and eventually growing into his identity as a trans man. He and Maddie discuss their respective experiences being trans entertainers in the spotlight– including the lessons they’ve learned both from within and outside of the community.  Also: The fluidity of labels; why Laith identifies as “Afro-Caribbean” rather than “Latino”; T4T relationships; how anti-intellectualism and transphobia feed off of each other; the importance of sexual health education; and a brief interlude on the US’s imperial history. And Maddie says this discussion is not over… maybe a part 2 in the New Year? It's the season of GIVING! And so, in the spirit of the holidays, we’re giving you not just one but TWO episodes this week. This special bonus episode is with TS Madison’s longtime manager, the incredible Leggra Colón—and it's available exclusively on our audio platforms.  Leggra is a KEY member of the TS Madison multiverse, the Capricorn energy to Maddie’s Libra brilliance, but today we’re digging into Leggra’s origin story. She’s been a high achiever since childhood. In this episode, Leggra talks the pivotal moments, mistakes, and learning opportunities that led her to where she is today. She also opens up about her cancer diagnosis and recovery, the decision to keep her diagnosis private, and how hearing the “C" Word changed her perspective. We also get a behind the scenes look at Leggra and Maddie’s relationship– both professionally and as close friends– including some insight into what “The TS Madison Experience” had left on the cutting room floor. We’re getting the full story of how Maddie and Leggra met– sometimes you think you need a new car but what you really need is a new manager.  Plus: Lessons Maddie and Leggra learned from their mamas; unconventional career paths; marriage and divorce; the Kama Sutra; fighting the hate between cis and trans Black women; societal disregard for aging women; and fighting back against bigotry coming from the White House. Today, TS Madison sits down with restaurateur, author, and "Real Housewives of Atlanta" star Kelli Ferrell for one of the funniest, realest, and most triumphant conversations of the season. From running Nana’s Chicken & Waffles to rebuilding her life after a divorce that nearly cost her half a million dollars, Kelli keeps it all the way real about what it takes to lose everything — and build it back better. What starts as a kiki about grits and mimosa mixes turns into a masterclass in faith, business, and self-worth. Madison and Kelli swap stories about men who steal (literally and spiritually), the art of leaving with nothing but your kids and your peace, and why every woman deserves a “narcissist moment” to brag on herself without apology. Also: divorce as divine intervention, stolen money and spiritual payback, co-parenting, being a “thick queen” in a skinny world, shared experiences between cis and trans women, "competition" in relationships, what it means to "build the table," the Atlanta dating scene, the stigma around sex on the first date, bad lace-front wigs, and the long road from Nana’s kitchen to "Real Housewives of Atlanta" peach-holding glory.Join our Patreon for exclusive content.: https://patreon.com/outlawswithtsmadisonSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Trailblazing filmmaker, writer, and creator Patrik-Ian Polk — yes, THE Patrik-Ian Polk, the mind behind the groundbreaking series "Noah’s Arc" — joins TS Madison for an inspiring, no-holds-barred conversation about Black queer legacy, representation, and refusing to be erased. For nearly three decades, Patrik has brought authentic Black queer stories to screens large and small. In this episode, he embraces his title as the “Father of Black Gay Cinema,” reflecting on everything from his Sundance-premiering directorial debut "Punks," to building "Noah’s Arc" on his own terms — and how betting on himself proved Black gay stories were never “niche,” just historically denied the space to exist on screen. But Madison and Patrik don’t just retrace credits — they get into the real stuff: how "Punks" made waves but was still ignored by distributors, the exact moment that sparked "Noah’s Arc," the hard deadline Patrik set to make it happen by any means necessary, his decision to skip pitching it to Hollywood altogether, and the industry’s ongoing discomfort with fully romantic Black queer love stories. Patrik even reveals the worst creative experience of his career! Also: Madison goes OFF on pearl-clutching over queer visibility, Patrik calls for transphobia to be banned, a reflection on the success of "Noah’s Arc: The Movie," whether or not Patrik is ready for a full series reboot, his dream of working with Tyler Perry, and why “I don’t know when, I don’t know how… but I KNOW” might as well be the Outlaws mission statement. "Outlaws" is hosted by TS Madison, and is part of the Outspoken Network from iHeartPodcasts, co-produced by Turtle Run Entertainment. - Is it on?
