Nancy Brophy fills her novels with romantic betrayals and murder. It’s a far cry from her quiet life in the suburbs, where she and her chef husband, Dan, are living out their golden years. But when Dan is shot dead, Nancy finds herself at the center of a murder case that could be ripped from the pages of her novels. From Wondery, this is a story about what happens when the line blurs between fiction and reality. Listen to Happily Never After: Dan & Nancy on the Wondery App or wherever you get your podcasts. This is infuriating. And to quickly shift from the tragic end of this little boy's life to an upbeat 'how I met my husband' story is jarring...the editing is just reckless. Terrible.

I am absolutely sick of hearing story after story of these well-meaning but completely desperate women who are willing to fast-track everything, overlook red flags, and "fix" a man just to have a man in their lives only to later tell their story about how horribly they were victimized by these men. You have a kid, you don't have the luxury of getting swept up in the fairytale and bring him into your kid's life before you even know him. Ugh.

I truly hope nothing terrible happens to this young lady, but I can't finish this episode. Her style of speaking is driving me crazy.

"countless victims" may be an exaggeration. it would suffice to say "several victims", or "many victims", even "many, many known victims so far". but yes, privacy - and safety - are very precious things and Tiffany and her interviewees set a great example as defenders..

She was basically a child when all this started and I'm going to speculate that she was incredibly sheltered based on how she gave this guy complete control of her life. Hard to listen to her continue to put up with his shit and make one stupid decision after the other, it's like hearing how a 12 year old would manage the situation.

This is going to sound awful but I have ZERO sympathy for her. He showed her who he was literally from the start. He stole your credit card and went to a casino and confessed to being a gambling addict (who was not in treatment at that time), yet you decided to work through it. You literally signed up for everything that followed.
