2 - Wil Anderson: The Past Times
Since the first American newspaper was published in 1690, millions more have been printed.
This week Dave Anthony picks a paper from a day in history and reads it to Gareth Reynolds and guest Wil Anderson.
New episodes of The Past Times will be right here every Thursday.
Great stuff, but you need to get used to the idea that old newspapers worked differently. The 'Page One' ads went along with you needing to cut the sheets of newsprint to 'unfold' it like a modern one. All that 'Extra, extra!' shove money at the news boy without getting change because this latest installment of news that's printed is worth so much more than like, asking the first guy that bought a copy what happened... bullsh*t. 🤪 FFS, asking as a Brit, when will 'Merkins stop thinking movies are reality? Is there anything that could be done that might accelerate the process?
